Tale follows how naive pair grow up, gain friends, lose innocence. Not my cuppa. Maybe better for greenies, idealists, kids? I dislike feeling lectured to.

Living planet Petaybee responds to treatment, good and bad, talks to those born on her. Girl Murel and boy Ronan have hair in red-brown curls and black straight (p 130), not silver straight and white waves as on the book cover. Like dad, they change into seals when immersed in water, pursued for experiments by bad scientist. Their pal Keola wants a Hawaii-like volcano home for his people, gives authors more research output.

first off you have to be tolerant of the idea of shapechangers. I can be if there is enough else of interest in it. this seems like a disney fairy tale. not realistic enough to be interesting or moving. It seems to me that I would have liked this book when I was undr 12 but by now both my experiences and my reading background make it pedesterian.

A good book for a young Redon or anyone who loves communicating animals and Sci-fi. Sentient plants and an otter eho is exactly like what an otter would be like if an otter could talk. A fun sequel from a favorite author.

The sellers contacted me about the book binding version to make sure that this was what I wanted. They were fantastic and sent the book right away once I was able to respond to their inquiry. The book looks to be in better shape than listed. I have not had a chance to reread the book yet, but this was exactly what I was looking for!!

This takes up where the last powers that be book leaves off.  It is a typical AM book in that it is a book about people in a sifi/fantasy setting.  I have most of AM's books and re-read them about every 5 years (it takes almost that long to get through all of them).  This is the first time I have read this book.  I liked it.  Book 2 was also great; but I thought book 3 was a little overwhelming in the extent of the problems.

I'm a sucker for books by Anne McCaffrey ever since I read the Pern series.  I enjoyed Changelings however it's not up to the quality I enjoyed in the early Pern books.  The characters are a little too "plastic". Not enough character development for me to really get to know them.  They seem to be just caricatures. And the story line was just a little too predictable.  Of course the evil Dr. Mabo would wind up encountering the children. And of course, Sean was conveniently unavailable to warn them.  And of course, the rescue arrives just in the nick of time.  Ah well, I'll probably read the rest of the series anyways but I really do miss the quality of those early Pern books.

Enjoyed the characters. And the scenery very vivid and compelling consistent with the original plotline and intro to new characters and villains looking forward to the next one

I had very much enjoyed the first three books and was pleased to see another come out.  It began strong, but didn't stay that way.  I really liked the beginning, with the culture and focus on Petaybee.  Then it got to the twin's disregard for rules or their own safety, and I really didn't like that very much.  It seemed to me as if the twins' disobedient recklessness was treated with approval--they're strong-minded, and all that, of course, isn't that great--and it was obviously used as the reason to get them off-planet so the rest of the story could commence.  I found that somewhat forced.  I also found their antics more appalling than endearing.  A little forceful discipline would have been more realistic of any parents I know!

And there seemed to be some problems with editing that I hope will be rectified at some point.  I haven't read the paperback version, but let's get the cats' genders straight, please.

I am hoping the next book is better.  I see it has been released, and yes, I will buy it and see how it goes.
