David D..burns, M..D..put a lot of effort into this book Multiplying it into A workbook that has charts, quizzes , interactive questioning that is personal and relaying the The chapter you just read to see how well you understood it. Definitely jumbo packed source of info. I appreciate it all. It's apparent that he is a very smart man who is emotionally compassionate and understanding. He strikes me as honest in his writing.Level of humbleness that most doctors don't show so comfortably via their writing. He's not afraid to be vulnerable, sharing examples with us. He shares them in order to show how he has been able to combat certain things . The main focus Isn't geared around that but I was impressed and thought that was worth mentioning. If someone was to ask why I rate it for stars instead of 5Beside of the fact that I don't try to Give out 5 stars except over occasions I also Tend to be more interested in a book It has more of a rubber. That is just me.I guarantee that he can carry that over in his personal life. Very much respected for that.Because I'm not able to Be as much of an binary person, especially in my relationships, i tend to enjoy an author that can Throw a little profanity around. Not too much but just enough to have that rough edge..Teach you a little bit of manipulation and not be afraid to admit it. The only reason I point this out is because it was a very professional. well worth Every minute. Over 700 pages with very thorough Contents n index.

Loved it. I had already read his first book and it was great. It was a few years ago, and at the time I might have not realized, but now looking back it really was the start to open my mind to a different mindset to deal with depression (which was my biggest problem) and anxiety.

I highlighted the book with different colours and plan to use it as a guide for various problems I might have. Remember to open the book and search for the sections I highlighted.

But even if I don't, the book was an amazing tool to solidify the ideas and techniques he had present in the first book.


So, since the ideas weren't new, I went into this book already knowing what to expect and chose to read the sections in the order I deemed most priority for me, and skipped the medication section.


I highly recommend this book, maybe the other one first, if someone wants to change their mindset and be able to improve themselves into a version which can better handle different situations, from communication, depression, procrastination, phobias and anxiety

One of those books that deserves to be purchased, marked up, and referred to often. Took me a long time to get to it and finish it, but very well worth the effort.

This is very similar to "Feeling Good" but with a greater focus on anxiety.

It also has some material on improving communication.

The part that I found the most interesting were the chapters at the end with tips for therapists. It was interesting to see the other side of the couch!

Insightful and a fresh, possibly eye-opening way to think about mental health. I’d be lying if I said this book did not help, but I feel as if the book is almost demanding me to think with a specific frame of mind, rather than suggesting a new way to view your emotions. Not for me, possibly for someone else.

In my honest opinion, this book + cognitive behavioral therapy (+medication if applicable) = overcoming anxiety and/or depression most effectively within a given individual’s current abilities.
Please go read this masterpiece with the ugliest cover I have ever seen

It's a classic. This is my go to book for clients in need of strategies to change their mood, or relationship dynamics. Though some may comment the examples are a little dry, they illustrate the point and do their job. I find this reference guide to be succinct and full of relevant applications. The summaries at the end of each chapter are helpful ways to review otherwise unwieldy tips and the strategies for effective communication are priceless. I've been in practice for decades and have not found a book yet that has been used so much. It's definitely a go-to book for your self.
