Traduzir é sempre um desafio, mas traduzir comédias gregas tem um nível de dificuldade realmente elevadíssimo. São muitas camadas: piadas que não fazem sentido no século XXI, contexto histórico, transposição da língua e muitos outros…

Isso dito, a tradução excessivamente modernizante não me agradou. Foram camadas demais de contexto perdido, o que dificulta entender os propósitos e críticas de Aristófanes com a peça.

After deciding that I needed to read this play, I changed my mind and decided that I really didn’t want to. There are too many books that I actually want to read to worry about what I “should” read.

This was so very stupid. I felt really embarrassed when I laughed about the vulgar and gross jokes. I didn’t even know I was able to understand that kind of humour.

At the same time I learned, that Aristophanes literally invented the Greek terminus “Ekklesiazousai” for “women of the assembly” because it didn’t exist (there was only the male version), so he was very Avantgarde. But since he only made the comedy up to be funny and win a competition, I doubt he’s in the position to claim praise for that.

This was my first Greek comedy, I usually read tragedies and now I know why.

Sometimes I forget history and think “wow people are entertained by such degenerate humour nowadays.” And then I read an Aristophanes play and remember “lol nah we’ve been laughing at the same things for thousands of years.”

Bawdy as they may be, Aristophanes’ plays are also chock-full of uncomfortable political truths, and this one is no exception. The underlying premise is that democracy inevitably leads to the rule of the inferior over the superior, which degrades both. Tocqueville said the same thing millennia later, and looking at the current state of America, it’s hard to argue with.

An interesting concept that Aristophanes brings up, being one of the oldest representations of a Communist society I've seen. And while it pokes fun at this society where everyone receives a commonwealth, it also inadvertently pokes fun at women ruling this society, which is a big weakness for Ecclesiazusae. The problem I've seen with Aristophanes' comedies involving politics and women is that you could see him supporting women's rights, but just as easily see him making fun of it. And between this play and Lysistrata, I'd have to say Lysistrata is the more clever and comedic of the two plays.

Από τις καλύτερες χιουμοριστικές κοινωνικο-πολιτικες, φεμινιστικες θα ελεγα σατιρες. Είναι πραγματικά απίστευτο πόσο πρωτοποριακή κι επίκαιρη είναι η συγκεκριμένη κωμωδία, ενώ μας χωρίζουν χιλιάδες χρόνια από την εποχή εκείνη, και πόσο δίκαιες οι νομοθετικές αλλαγές ενώ παράλληλα άκρως κωμικές. Απλά τα πράγματα... Η εξουσία στις γυναίκες.

Ενδιαφερον το ότι απορούν οι σχολιαστές πως γίνεται ο Αριστοφάνης να ήξερε την ουσία της πλατωνικης πολιτείας και να την διακωμωδουσε δέκα χρόνια πριν κυκλοφορήσει.

Atina şehri erkeklerin yönetiminde bir şehirdir. Bir gün kadınlar artık bu durumdan sıkılıp yönetimi ele geçirmek için Praksagora'nın önderliğinde birleşirler. Kadınlar kocalarının kıyafetlerini giyip, erkek kılığında meclise giderler ve orada yönetimin kadınlara devredilmesi yasa tasarısını meclise sunarlar. Yasa kabul edilir ve artık Atina kadınlar tarafından yönetilmektedir. Kadınların yönetimi başlayınca Praksagora yönetimini sağlamlaştırmak için bir takım kararlar alır ve biz de kitap boyunca bu kararların toplumdaki yansımalarına tanıklık ederiz.

Oyun kolayca iki bölüme ayrılabilir. İlk bölümde yönetim değişiyor ve bu bölüm fazla politik olduğu için eğlenceli değil. İkinci bölümde ise kadınların aldığı kararları erkeklerin nasıl karşıladığı anlatılmaktadır, bu bölümü okurken gülmekten yere düşüyordum.

Αφου ειδα το καλοκαιρι του 2023 την Λυσιστρατη στο θεατρο το καλοκαίρι του 2024 είπα να συνεχισω με Εκκλησιάζουσες, ακομη ενα φεμινιστικο έργο του Αριστοφάνη. Αλλά πριν γνωριστώ με αυτό το έργο είπα να διαβάσω πρώτα τους Βάτραχους που το είχα δει παλιά.

Γιατί, θα ρωτησει κάποιος, Εκκλησιάζουσες κι όχι Σφήκες, ή Όρνιθες ας πούμε.
Ε για τον απλό και χαζό λόγο διοτι σε αυτο το έργο υπάρχει η μεγαλύτερη ελληνικη λέξη που εφτιαξε ο Αριστοφανης συγκεκριμενα για αυτό το εργο.
Εκτείνεται σε πάνω από 5 στιχους και ειναι συνταγη ψαρικων το οποιο πιατο θα σερβιριστει στο γλέντι του επιλόγου. Είναι επίσης και η τελευταία λέξη του έργου. Ε και ήθελα να την δω γραμμένη, και στ’ αρχαια.

Τώρα πέρασε και τοσος καιρος αλλα θυμαμαι να παρακολουθώ στο γιουτιουμπ την παρασταση με την Αρώνη. Δε θυμαμαι το τελος αλλά θυμαμαι να βλεπω ενα ικανό ποσοστό του εργου.

J'ai lu cette pièce juste après avoir lu Lysistrata. Je retrouve la même vision de la femme mais au lieu d'être ambassadrice de la paix, elle est une meneuse. Elle passe à l'attaque tout simplement. J'ai beaucoup aimé la façon qu'a Aristophane de présenter les mœurs de sa société en mettant en avant la femme. En revanche, il profite aussi pour les rabaisser en conversant son androcentrisme. Donc cette pièce est très ambivalente car elle montre la femme comme l'égale de l'homme mais aussi comme soumise à celui-ci.

Pour conclure, un livre à lire au moins une fois dans sa vie.
