This was an enjoyable in-depth read while rewatching the miniseries with our son. Lots of fun trivia about the filming and the actors. It is like a time capsule from 30 years ago, too, with things like running phone lines for the crew instead of using cell phones and having to worry about anachronistic background objects that can now be taken out in post-production with CGI. I also appreciated all the interviews with the cast members. I received this in a gift set someone was giving away — if you can find a copy I recommend it if you are a fan of the BBC production!

A great companion to the 1995 BBC adaptation of Austen's Pride & Prejudice that gives the reader an intriguing glimpse behind the scenes of this most beloved film.

I love this book. There's a feast here for Austen geeks, film geeks, costume geeks, and probably bunch of other geeks - rich in detail, heavily illustrated, and just huge fun. (And I got mine from Wales, which leaves me chuffed.)

Every aspect of making a film is covered in this slim, spectacular book, from script writing to post production publicity. In addition to riveting text, it is full of gorgeous photographs. Anyone who enjoyed the 1995 BBC/A&E six part series will revel in this masterpiece.

I had particular fun re-reading Pride and Prejudice for the fourth or fifth time, watching the series, and reading this book all at the same time. It pointed out how closely the film followed Jane Austen's classic.

All three are masterful.

What fun to peep behind the scenes of this wonderful production. It's evident great care was taken with the locations, set decorations, costumes, etc., even hair. Did you know Jennifer Ehle died her light eyebrows so the casting directors would take her seriously as a brunette? I try to read a few pages right before I go to sleep, so I can dream about Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.

A fascinating look at an excellent adaptation. It really shows how much work went into making the movie accurate--both historically and to the book--and includes very interesting interviews with the actors about the challenges of acting in a period piece.

This was a fun look at the makings of one of my favorite jane Austen adaptations. This particular Pride and Prejudice has been a huge part of my life and it was a huge part of my childhood so it was a lot of fun to read the bening the scenes details. Absolutely recommend this for fans of the mini series.

This was such a fun look back at the much-loved 1995 BBC series of Pride and Pride and Prejudice. It was so interesting to learn about the whole process, from adapting the novel to a script, to scheduling logistics of filming, to the editing process afterwards. There is so much that goes into a project of this size, and it was very cool to hear from the producers and key players.

One interesting thing to note is that it is formatted, printed, and even feels like a magazine, just longer and with a paperback cover.

Overall, a very fun addition to any Jane Austen aficionado's collection!

If you watch 6 hours of Mr. Darcy, and then decide you want even more...the behind the scenes book is for you. The production is brought to life each step of the way from location selection, to music, to costumes to casting. Now i realize why the credits at the end of a movie go on and on and on and on and on. It really does take a village.

I don't know what I expected, but I suspect that it would have found it much more interesting if I were more interested in becoming involved in making a movie. The processes and elements described would have been more interesting. As it is, I do appreciate more how much work goes into the creation of a movie.
