This version of Pride and Prejudice is my favorite movie. It was fun to read about how it came to be. It was fascinating to learn more about the process and how many people it takes to put on a big production like this.

If you've ever wondered what goes on to bring a classic novel to life on television, this is the book to get.

I'll admit I fell in love a bit with Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy as I imagine many women did. This book delves into his character along with those of the Bennet sisters and the other major and minor people from Jane Austen's fertile imagination.

This book is loaded with pictures from in front of and behind the cameras. The chapters begin with the script and pre-production. It goes throughout the filming and ends with post-production and the cast and crew list.

The pictures are a bit too small, but very interesting description of how something like P&P comes together. Would especially be useful to a teen looking at a possible career in the field.

I read this in England when the Colin Firth / Jennifer Ehle version of Pride and Prejudice came out.

It was a good book in providing information about the making of this production but did not provide any real information about Jane Austen. At the time this came out I was a huge Colin Firth fan (probably due to him diving into a lake!)and this was the reason I purchased this book.

It reads somwhat choppy at first, the many sections having been written by so many different people - producers, directors, lighting, camera, costume, makeup, script, music, choreography and on and on and on - and the rating was going to be a 4 until I reached the interview with Colin Firth who gave just a masterful tour through his portrayal of Darcy. This chapter alone is worth the price of admission. There are a few areas where more could have been done. They didn't speak to the musician, Melvyn Tan, for example, or explain how they came to cast the principals, but on the other hand there are so many photographs, probably averaging at least a few on every page.

Excellent description of the behind the scenes making of the wonderful Andrew Davies version of "Pride and Prejudice." Especially fascinating was the account of a day's filming with its myriad activities and details.

A fascinating look at how the 1995 BBC performance of Pride and Prejudice was brought to the screen. Such a complex operation with an army of people.
