رغم فجاجة موضوع الرواية، فالبطلة عاهرة، والأحداث كلها تدور في فلك رحلتها، إلا أنّها تدفع بك إلى التفكير في الروح البشرية، والأسباب التي تجعلك تتصرّف أحياناً دون هدى.
كما أن كويلو البارع في سبر الأغوار نجح في رأيي هنا أن يتناول قضية الجنس بصورة مميزة رغم بعض الإغراق، لكنّه في النهاية أوصل قضيته التي أراد التعرّض بها لبر الأمان.
البحث عن هدف، واقتحام المغامرة قد يكون دافع يحرّك أحدهم، لكن عليه ألا ينجرف في التيار الذي لا مرد له، كما أن العيش في تعاسة وجلد الذات في كثير من الأحيان يكون من صنعنا نحن، وباستمتاعنا أيضاً، رغم أن سبل السعادة تكون ذات طريق مفتوح.
راوية قرأتها مشتركاً دفعة واحدة في انسيابية، وقضيت معها وقت أعمل فكري، وأظن أن لو أحداً آخر كتب هذا العمل لكرهت طريقته.

Book Review

Once upon a time, there was a bird. He was adorned with two perfect wings and with glossy, colorful, marvelous feathers. In short, he was a creature made to fly about freely in the sky, bringing joy to everyone who saw him.

One day, a woman saw this bird and fell in love with him. She watched his flight, her mouth wide in amazement, her heart pounding, her eyes shining with excitement. She invited the bird to fly with her, and the two traveled across the sky in perfect harmony. She admired and venerated and celebrated that bird.

But then she thought: He might want to visit far-off mountains! And she was afraid, afraid that she would never feel the same way about any other bird. And she felt envy, envy for the bird's ability to fly.

And she felt alone.

And she thought: "I'm going to set a trap. The next time the bird appears, he will never leave again."

The bird who was also in love, returned the following day, fell into the trap and was put in a cage.

She looked at the bird everyday. There he was, the object of her passion, and she showed him to her friends, who said: "Now you have everything you could possibly want." However, a strange transformation began to take place: now that she had the bird and no longer needed to woo him, she began to lose interest. The bird, unable to fly and express the true meaning of his life, began to waste away and his feathers to lose their gloss; he grew ugly; and the woman no longer paid him any attention, except by feeding him and cleaning out his cage.

One day, the bird died. The woman felt terribly sad and spent all her time thinking about him But she did not remember the cage, she thought only of the day when she had seen him for the first time, flying contentedly amongst the clouds.

If she had looked more deeply into herself, she would have realized that what had thrilled her about the bird was his freedom, the energy of his wings in motion, not his physical body.

Without the bird, her life too lost all meaning, and Death came knocking at her door. "Why have you come?" she asked Death. "So that you can fly once more with him across the sky," Death replied. "If you had allowed him to come and go, you would have loved and admired him even more; alas, you now need me in order to find him again."

So now I think that passage from the book already ate up my review so I'll just add some extra things.

First: As expected from Paulo Coelho this is another philosophical somewhat self-help, inspirational novel. This book was actually dedicated to a fan named Maurice Gravelines and Coelho met this guy unintentionally when he visited the Grotto in Lourdes. When they met the guy was like "You know, you look just like Paulo Coelho." And then Coelho said that yeah it was really him. And then the guy embraced him and he said to Coelho that, "They(Coelho's books) make me dream." I think that pretty sum up what kind of books Coelho's are.

Second: This book actually talks a lot about sex so I really recommend this book to adult readers, 18 years old and above. The novel has some masturbation scenes, BDSM, a blowjob scene etc. It just talks a lot about orgasm and in the other hand it also talks about the sacredness of sex and some history of prostitution blah blah blah. So really, adult readers or if you're sensitive about sex or anything about it maybe this book is not for you.

Third: My only complain about this book is that...there's actually a Filipino character in this book and she's a prostitute in the book and she's Maria's friend. My only problem about her is her name which is Nyah. I just really find her name weird and not very quote and quote Filipino. Maybe the author did not have time to research on it but the common names of Filipinos are similar to Spanish names and American names so I just really find it odd that her name's Nyah since it doesn't sound like a Filipino name. Maybe he could just name that character Juana or Ana or Susan but to name her Nyah, it was just odd. *shoulder shrug*

Thoughts before Reading

Finally this has been available in our library. So many people have been borrowing it, and when I go to the libray its always unavailable. Now it's my time to read it and I'm so excited since one of my classmate really like it and he said that this is his most favorite Coelho book. I'm curious to know why.

The book talks about a girl with simple but complex dreams and her choices, which she think are adventurous, takes us through a hidden perspective even though the events in her and our life are completely different. It's the art of writing that the author has produced in his work.

من اروع ماقرأت ...الفكرة فى الاساس عن الجنس سواء الجنس المعتاد او الجنس المقدس ..فكرة الوصول الى اقصى احساس بالاستمتاع ..ليس الموضوع جسدى فقط ولكن الوسيلة هى الروح ...اختار البطلة لتكون عاهرة ويأكد على لسانها دائما انها لم تشعر بالاستمتاع رغم كل علاقتها ..ليؤكد ان السبيل للوصول الى ذلك هو الحب والحب الحقيقى فقط ...اكثر ماعجبنى هو ان الكاتب تحدث عن موضوع ينأى كبار الكتاب على التركيز علية ...اعجب جدا بالكتاب الاجانب لاقتناعهم الكامل بحرية الفكر والابداع عكس عندنا

رواية جريئة جدا من قبل الكاتب باولو كويلو ورائعة جدا من جميع النواحي, ما كتبه باولو كويلو في هذه الرواية صدمني ليس بشيء سيء ولكن بكمية الابداع الرائع الذي وجدته في هذه الرواية شيء خرافي ولم اتوقع ابداً, وقبل كل شيء هذه الرواية ليست مناسبة لمن هم قبل من 18 عام او لا يحبون الروايات والكتب التي تحتوي على ايجاءات قصص جنسية ولكن سوف تندم جدا لان قراءاتك لهذه الرواية سوف تكتشف شيء داخلك لم يكن في الحسبان.
هذه الرواية تدخلك الى عالم انت تعرف فقط الجزء السطحي منه والتعمق كل شخص يتخيله حسب ما هو يريد وطبعا بصورة سيئة, ولكن بعد قراءتك لهذه الرواية والعمق الذي سوف تصل له سوف يدهشك الكثير من الاشياء وخاصة اذا كنت لم تعلم او لم تحاول ان تتعمق في هذه الموضوع ومهما تعدى الاسباب ولكن يجب عليك ان تعرف كل شيء مهما بلغ بك الامر لان لن تتعلم بدون ان تسال او تكتشف.
الجميل في هذه الرواية لـ باولو كويلو هو قبل ان يكتب هذه الرواية لم يكن في خاطره ان يكتب عنه ولكن الظروف اخذه الى هذه الطريق وطبعا لحسن حظه وحظنا انه اكتشف هذه الشيء واخرج لنا هذه الرواية الرائعة, من الاشياء الذي اخرج هذه الرواية بهذه الابداع هي تعمق باولو كويلو في حياة المومسات والجلوس معهم واخذ عينات من حياتهم وتطبيقه في هذه الرواية واظهار الجانب الانساني لهم لان مهما تكن هن بشر ايظا ولكن طريقة عيشهم والظروف اجبرتهم على هذه العمل او يوجد من هن رغبا بهذه العمل وهذه طبعا يعود لحريتهم الشخصية.
قراءتك لهذه الرواية سوف تكتشف الكثير من الاشياء وتدخلك لقصص وعبر كثيرة جدا وتجعلك تتعاطف مع واقع بطلة الرواية ويكون لديك نظرة تقبلية لهم على رغم تواجد الكثير من كلمات والحوارات الجنسية في الرواية ولكن سوف تعشقها جدا, وايظا اسم الرواية سوف تكتشفها بطريقة مثيرة ..

A very bold novel by the writer Paulo Coelho and very wonderful in all respects, what wrote Paulo Coelho in this novel shocked me not something bad but the amount of wonderful creativity that I found in this novel is legendary and I never expected, and above all of this novel is not suitable for those who are less then 18 years old or do not like novels and books containing sexual abuse stories but you will regret very much because your reading of this novel will discover something inside you was not in mind.
This novel introduces you to a world where you know only the superficial part of it and deepen every person you imagine as you want and of course badly, but after reading this novel and the depth that will reach it you will be surprised with a lot of things especially if you did not learn or did not try to delve into these subjects and whatever the reasons, but you should know everything, no matter how you reach it because you will not learn without asking or discovering.
The beautiful in this novel to Paulo Coelho is before writing this novel was not in his mind to write about it but the circumstances took him to this way and of course for his luck and we noticed that he discovered this thing and brought us this wonderful novel, the things that brought this novel this creativity is deepening Paulo Coelho in the life of prostitutes and sit with them and take samples of their lives and apply in this novel and show the humanitarian aspect to them, no matter how they are human beings, but the way of life and circumstances forced them to work or there are willing to do this work and this is of course for their personal freedom.
Your reading for this novel will reveal a lot of things and your input to the stories and across too many and make you sympathize with the reality of the heroine of the novel and have a receptive view of them despite the presence of many words and sexual dialogues in the novel, but will love her very, and then the name of the novel will be discovered in an exciting way ..

طبعاً ..!

وهل أتوقع من نفسي أن أقيم هذه الرواية بأقل من 11 نجمة ؟
هذه الرواية .. كانت المفتاح .. الباب الذي فتحت عالم كويلو لي ..

كنتُ في جلسة خفيفة مع أبي سلمان .. قال باقتضاب .. قرأت لكويلو ؟ .. لا .. اقرأ له 11 دقيقة !
بحثتُ عنها لأني أعلم أن وصايا عبد اللطيف لا كل الوصايا ..
وجدتها في دبي عام 2005 .. اقتنيتها .. قرأتها في تلك الأيام .. ولم أستطع أن أنسى أية تفاصيل فيها ولا طريقة الحبكة وصياغة العبارات ..

هذه الرواية .. وهذا الأمر شخصي بحت .. أعتبرها باقتدار أفضل رواية قرأتها في حياتي .. وقد قرأت لثلة ليست كبيرة من كتاب الروايات .. وللكاتب نفسه جميع رواياته ..

تبقى 11 دقيقة رواية النفس .. رواية الشعور والإحساس .. رواية الحزن والألم والبحث عن الحب والوجد واللقاء والاكتشاف ... رواية السفر والترحال واليقين بوجود الهدف وتحققه ..

لا أنصح بقرائتها بشدة .. بل أقول أن من لم يقرأها فإنه لم يقرأ رواية بعد !

هي جرئية أو بمعنى أصح صريحة
" الحقيقه العارية "

Brazilian Maria intended to work in Switzerland as a club dancer but got herself caught up in the sex industry when she rationalised about the potential earnings. Maria reckons that '11 minutes' is the average length of time for conventional penetrative paid-for sex. Coelho paints a very whitewashed (no pun intended) look at Maria's working girl life in which she, despite having given up on love because of her first heartbreak, finds herself at a crossroads between using sex for emotionless wealth generation or finding sacred sex (=love).

Mystical realist guru Coelho talked/hints about looking at white slavery and people trafficking in the forewords and pre publication interviews for this book, but in reality this felt a lot more like the protagonist Maria uncovering some core truths of the human condition in her 'journey'! The second person telling, view of, and approach to her reality didn't feel genuine, and very much felt like it was all Coelho's voice and views. Still on this reread I have managed to bump up my rating to a stronger Three Star, 5 out of 12, so some improvement?

بعد عدة سنوات من قراءة الخيميائي والتي اعتبرها من أكثر الروايات المبالغ في تقديرها في تاريخ الأدب، نظرا لأنها تبدو كرواية من رحم تفاهة عالم التنمية البشرية. قررت إعطاء كويلهو فرصة أخرى واخترت روايته هذه.
كويلهو الآن وليس رواية الخيميائي هو اللغز، كيف يحقق رجل بهذا المستوى من السطحية والتفاهة وضعف وبداءة الأسلوب الروائي كل هذه الشهرة. الرواية تشبه لحد كبير فيلما عربيا ساذجا بثوب عصري، حتى حديثه عن الجنس الذي أراد له أن يكون عميقا جاء سخيفا للغاية ولم يضف جديد كما لو كان ينقل من قراءاته وليس مما عايشه أو تخيله.

ما قيمة الجنس في حياة الفرد والمجتمع؟ ثمة نظرية تقول بأن الوقت القصير المستغرق في العملية الجنسية هي ما يشكل معظم دوافع البشر ومخاوفهم. هي ما يبنى ثقتهم أو يحطمها. يقول التيار الآخر بأن معكوس هذه النظرية هو الصواب. أي أن مخاوفنا وتناقضاتنا وعقدنا تظهر في العملية الجنسية. تلك هي إحدى الثيمات الرئيسية التي تناقشها هذه الرواية إلى جانب مفاهيم أخرى مثل إمكانية العودة عن طريق الخطيئة أو أنه طريق لا رجعة منه. هل الغاية تبرر الوسيلة؟ وهل تتعلق خيرية الشخص بما يفعله أم بما هي حقيقته من الداخل؟

الشخصيات

رواية إحدى عشرة دقيقة إحدى عشرة دقيقة تقدم مجموعة من الشخصيات المتنوعة. رجال كانوا أو نساءً، فالضوء المسلط على الغالبية هو علاقتهم بتجارة الجنس ما بين مستغل ومضطر، متلذذ ومتضرر، حاذق وساذج. هذا العالم المتقوقع على نفسه مثله مثل العالم الخارجي، لا يتشابه فيه اثنان وليست الدوافع فيه متطابقة. لدينا المثقف والبسيط، الغني ومنتوف الريش، المتزن والمختل.

الحبكة والنبرة

حبكة الرواية تسير بطريقة خطية، وإن كان ثمة تنويع طفيف في إدراج صفحات من مفكرة الشخصية الرئيسية، وهي لم تحدث فرقاً كبيراً بالنسبة لي. نبرة الرواية عموماً ليست تراجيدية ولم تصور عالم بيع الهوى كعالم سفلي بالضرورة. ليست قصة وعظية فيها الجزاء من جنس العمل بل هو نص أقرب إلى الواقعية مع لفتات رومانسية لطيفة.
