B E A U T I F U L is the appropriate word to describe this novel. ;)
A Novel of Forgiveness and Self-Discovery -- what else could you possibly wish for? :p

The story could more easily be described as a story of love, as it strives to show that “true love is an act of total surrender”. At a deeper level, Paulo Coelho also gives the message that there are no rules when it comes to love. :D

The novel also shows how "TRUE-TO-LIFE-SITUATION" of love is ridiculously connected to fairy tales (as quoted from the book):
There's nothing deeper than love. In fairy tales, the princesses kiss the frogs, and the frogs become princes. In real life, the princesses kiss princes, and the princes turn into frogs.
LOL,if I will put this into simpler words, it would be:
There's nothing deeper than MARRIAGE. In fairy tales, when princesses and princes get married, the princes turn into kings but in real life situation, when a man marries a woman, the man will be legally "named" as the husband and get fed up with the married life which (most likely -__-) he got himself with and sooner or later they will turn into FROGS -- JERKS. And the man and woman who were madly in love before would ask for legal help and go for a divorce.

I am absolutely NOT AGAINST marriage, but sadly, divorce has been a recent routine for most of the disrupted couples in the world.
DIVORCE or ANNULMENT have always been an issue and ironically, a solution for an unwanted marriage :(

Lastly, I think the novel calls the attention of all the men, soon-to-be-husbands and BOYFRIENDS in the world. It covertly and indirectly teaches all men to believe in women and to stop discriminating women's effort and strength. (As quoted again from the book):
He thinks I'm weak, cowardly, unable to fight for what I want. Even without a kiss, the princess is transformed into a frog.

@.@

ooooooh~ Before I end my review, I will (again) quote a passage from the book (which I loved <3 hihi):
"Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering."

2.5 stars *

The novel is about the struggle between who we are and who we want to be , surrendering and making concessions to ourselves and the people we love .

I'm a Muslim and we believe that God has no son wife or feminine face, though i enjoy roaming in the thoughts of other people religions, thus this novel has much much details :D
any way i liked the second idea of the novel of crossing the boundaries that we put to ourselves and let the "other" voice inside as control our lives and decisions life is too short , opportunity is given only once .
But i get bored at some points , the idea of novel is really nice but it needed some-things more .

parts i liked most :

We do not recognize that God is wherever we allow Him/Her to enter*

True love is an act of total surrender.*

The wise are wise only because they love. And the foolish are foolish only
because they think they can understand love,"*

Anyone who can conquer her heart can conquer the world.*

Love is a trap. When it appears, we see only its light, not its shadows*

The universe always helps us fight for our dreams, no matter how foolish they may be *

I feel like a spiritual leader! The one thing which hit really hard was the protagonist realising how much time she had wasted stuck in a single place and I couldn't agree more.

“If pain must come, may it come quickly. Because I have a life to live, and I need to live it in the best way possible. If he has to make a choice, may he make it now. Then I will either wait for him or forget him.”

This book wasn't even close to as good as The Alchemist, and it seems as though it was translated really poorly too. If I could read Portugese I would try it, but since I'm limited to English or Spanish, I think I'm done with trying to make this book better than my original reaction deemed it.

It wasn't a very cohesive story, the whole "feminine face of God" thing was cool, but fairly random and not well elaborated, the "love story" was sappy and pathetic.

It is a super short book, especially when considering the size of the font and the margins, and yet I felt like I was creeping through it. I finished it, as other reviewers have mentioned, solely for the sake of finishing it. Why do we do this to ourselves? Why can't I be more like Trish and just let sucky books go without having to finish them?

Anyway, save yourself from the self-flagellation that will come when you don't feel like finishing it, and don't even start it.

We all need like this journey to find love and faith, and to reach the spiritual side of ourlives.

If you're expecting another The Alchemist, just stop right there, turn around, and never look back. Seriously. Trust me and do yourself a favor.

After the success of The Alchemist, I feel like Coelho just threw a bunch of ideas together and called it a new story. Sure, it has the themes of faith, love, and following your dreams, but in my opinion, the story just wasn't concrete enough to really... I don't know, actually teach you anything - if that's what Coelho sought to do. The events just felt disconnected.

It took me a few months to finish this book because I kept getting bored of it. I finally finished it for the sake of finishing it.

The author tried to throw in a few themes from The Alchemist, and there are maybe a few good ideas in here, but nothing good enough to waste your time reading an entire book to glean some tidbits.

Note: A lot of reviewers on Amazon said they didn't like the fact that the book delved so much into religion, but I didn't mind that.
