For those fans of Jimmy the Hand who are eager to explore all the thrilling hints of adventure that he must have experienced as a Squire in Arutha's court, and then as he became a spymaster, hunting down assassins, this book is an absolute must-read for you.

It's truly strange to go back in time to the days following the original Riftwar in this way. However, I have to admit that the story potentials are rather rich. Although it may be small in scale, it is highly focused and detailed.

In some respects, the ending of this novel feels like a slightly more awe-inspiring conclusion compared to Silverthorn. There are no complaints whatsoever. It is filled with lots of action, character development, skullduggery, infiltration, and all-around enjoyable fantasy thievery. It's a book that will surely keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you craving for more.

I have played the Krondor games, and perhaps it is nostalgia that can transform anything ordinary into something amazing. But I have to admit it. I adored this book. I simply couldn't put it down.

It had the power to make me eager to know what would happen next. I'm not completely certain about its literary value, but it is definitely a book that I would recommend to anyone.

The story in the book was so captivating that it held my attention from beginning to end. The characters were well-developed and engaging, and the plot was full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Whether you're a fan of the Krondor games or just looking for a good read, I highly recommend giving this book a try. You won't be disappointed.

I am reading the series in the recommended order.

However, this particular book seems to have jumped back quite a ways.

This was a bit of a jolt at first.

Just like many of the other e-books in the series, there are some errors in page markings and a few typos.

Thankfully, nothing is too drastic.

It doesn't overly detract from the overall reading experience.

Despite these minor issues, I'm still enjoying the story and looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

I'm hoping that future installments will have fewer errors, but for now, I'm willing to overlook them and continue on with the series.

After all, the story itself is what really matters.

And so far, it's been quite engaging.

The Moredhel army's attempt to obtain the Lifestone has been foiled. Back in Krondor, a series of murders and attacks on a visiting dignitary's life have Prince Arutha worried. Jimmy the Hand uses his remarkable skills to discover the reasons and concludes that the Nighthawks are once again at fault. Their pursuit leads him, along with William and Arutha, to an abandoned fortress in the desert, where the situation gets out of control. This is mainly because, in addition to hundreds of assassins, the lair also turns out to be hiding a Demon. It takes all of Jimmy's shrewdness, William's courage, and Arutha's calm leadership to defeat the Demon and most of the Nighthawks. At the end, we get a hint of much greater and darker powers at work behind the Nighthawks' activities.

As expected in the second part of any trilogy, the book sets up the series well for the final installment. Given the number of unresolved questions raised by this book, 'Tear of the Gods' should be an exciting read. The writing is what I have come to expect from Feist. It is uniformly well-written, although at times it seems like he is saving his best material for the finale. This is why the book comes across as just good, rather than spectacular.

Overall, 'Shadow of a Dark Queen' is a solid addition to the Riftwar Cycle trilogy. It builds on the events of the first book and sets the stage for what is sure to be an epic conclusion. Fans of the series will not be disappointed, and those new to Feist's work will find this book an engaging introduction to his world of magic, adventure, and intrigue.

This book, along with the two other parts of the Krondor trilogy, can easily be said to be the three best books I've ever read.

I read these three books within a month's time, not including the time between buying each one of them. This just goes to show how absorbing they are for lovers of fictional adventure stories.

It is almost like "Lord of the Rings," but in my opinion, it is written better than JRR Tolkien wrote "LoTR." No offense to Tolkien, of course. But to my taste, it truly is.

I strongly advise fiction lovers to read them. They will take you on an exciting journey filled with magic, mystery, and unforgettable characters.

The vivid descriptions and engaging plot will keep you hooked from beginning to end. So, don't miss out on this amazing trilogy.

Pick up these books and let your imagination run wild.

This is the second book in the Riftwar Legacy.

Although it is based on the video game created for it, it is an excellent book.

It fills in some gaps about beloved characters and also sets up later series.

The story in this book is engaging and well-written, taking readers on an exciting adventure.

The author does a great job of developing the characters and making them come to life.

I enjoyed this book immensely.

If you are a fan of the Riftwar series, I would highly recommend this book.

It provides more depth and background to the overall story and is a great addition to the series.

Whether you have played the video game or not, this book is sure to capture your attention and keep you entertained from start to finish.

So, if you're looking for a good fantasy book to read, give this one a try.

You won't be disappointed.

Review - Spoilers Contained

After the battle for the Tear of the Gods and the sacrifice of a mage named Patrus which allows a rift to be closed, Prince Arutha returns to the capital only to find it in "ruins". There have been many brutal murders under the leadership of a certain kruiper and the snakes are missing their leader, the Honest Man. Has he been killed? And a wave of more violence is feared.

Feist's books are still packed with action, adventure, and humor. It is especially the latter that makes me a huge fan of his books. Besides Prince Arutha, there are several well-known names such as Robbie the Hand and Princess Anita. Also, William, the son of mage Pug, plays a leading role in this book.

Some fragments from the book:

- Limm walked further, straddling the sides of the round passage, since every ten feet or so a foul outflow came into an enormous channel that ran about six feet lower.

- "If the Honest Man is dead, the price is void."

- Among those three who attacked us, there was at least one, and most likely two, powerful mages of the Lesser Path.

- "Why would Keshi professional assassins kill an Olakese prince?"

- Less than an hour later they were on board and the three ships set sail with full sails at nightfall.... By the time Robert had unpacked, a knock on the door announced the arrival of the admiral.

What an ominous ending!!

I liked this middle book even more than the first book! It was a lot more exciting!

Jimmy the Hand is a wonderful creation. His character is full of charm and wit, and his actions always add an element of excitement to the story. William is quite likable as well. His loyalty and determination make him a great protagonist.

Not to mention the surprise cameo of my favorite character, Amos Trask! His appearance was a pleasant surprise and added an extra layer of depth to the story.

The plot unfolded more creatively and in a much more exciting manner than the first book. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

I am interested to see how everything will be solved in the third part. Though, really, this book did not seem to connect to Krondor, The Betrayal as much as I would have expected. But perhaps the third volume will link everything together and provide a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

Overall, I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy novels. The characters are engaging, the plot is exciting, and the world-building is excellent. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Each time, I can immerse myself in this fictional world, and this time is no exception.

However, at the end, there still remained the feeling that there was a lot of fanfare over very little substance.

The plot felt somewhat meager and lacked the usual depth and twists.

It seemed as if the story was trying to create excitement but failed to truly engage on a deeper level.

The characters also didn't seem to have the complexity and development that would have made the narrative more interesting.

Overall, while the initial immersion was enjoyable, the lack of substance and depth ultimately left me feeling a bit disappointed.

Perhaps in future installments, the author can focus on strengthening these aspects to create a more engaging and fulfilling fictional experience.

The same problem as the first book of the Krondor Trilogy to some extent. It's not extremely remarkable, but it's definitely not a disappointment either.

This book follows a similar pattern as its predecessor. The story unfolds in a familiar world, with characters that we have come to know and expect certain behaviors from.

However, it does offer some new elements and developments that keep the reader engaged. The plot progresses at a steady pace, with enough action and mystery to hold one's interest.

While it may not be a masterpiece, it is still an enjoyable read for fans of the series. It provides a continuation of the story that we have invested in, and leaves us eager to see what will happen next in the Krondor Trilogy.

Overall, it's a solid addition to the series that doesn't break any new ground but doesn't disappoint either.
