I was truly heartbroken, filled with a profound sense of sadness as I believed it would be the end. Little did I know that there were more books to come. So, I tried to prolong the experience as much as I could. I discovered that this particular book was a highly believable and fitting conclusion to the series. It was every bit as excellent as the others.

Despite the earlier victories, Midkemia is far from safe. Just because the commanding warlord has died, the enemy army doesn't simply vanish into thin air. They still have an enormous amount of trouble to deal with and a plethora of questions that demand answers.

The world that he has created is consistent, believable, and utterly enchanting. There is a whole gamut of characters, some of whom I like and others I loathe. For my part, I will obtain the other series as soon as humanly possible. I am eager to explore more of this captivating fictional universe and continue my journey through the adventures that await.

I cannot wait to see what new challenges and mysteries lie ahead in the subsequent books. The anticipation is palpable, and I am confident that they will be just as engaging and thrilling as this final installment in the current series.

Conclusion of the saga, with an ending that is a bit rushed (), but still nice.

It's interesting to see the life choices made by some who survived the war ().

The series as a whole was quite engaging. The storylines were filled with adventure, mystery, and romance. The characters were well-developed and relatable, each with their own unique personalities and flaws. The world-building was also top-notch, creating a vivid and immersive universe that kept me hooked from start to finish.

Overall, I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good adventure story. It's a great read that will leave you wanting more.

This was a fine conclusion to the Snake War.

It was still war, so a great deal of blood was flowing, but there was also a lot of talking and attempts were made in clever ways to prevent worse.

And among all the good-natured people, the positive qualities were not always predominant, sometimes it was nice for a change.

The Snake War had been a long and arduous conflict, with many lives lost and much destruction.

However, in the end, there was a glimmer of hope as the two sides began to communicate and look for solutions.

Although the fighting had not completely ceased, the efforts to find a peaceful resolution were a step in the right direction.

It was a time of great uncertainty, but also a time of possibility.

Everyone was hoping that the end of the war would bring a new era of peace and prosperity.

Only time would tell if these hopes would be realized.

This was a perfectly satisfactory conclusion to a good, but not great fantasy series. The loose ends are all tied off quite nicely, and there is the distinct promise of more to come.

On that note, it seems Feist has expanded Midkemia significantly. When I can't find something else to captivate me, I will likely return to these books. They aren't outstanding, but they are reliably good.

In this series, the character of Erik takes center stage in the first book. However, his character is rather one-dimensional. By this book, he has been pushed to the sidelines and remains rather uninteresting.

The second book focuses on Roo, who is considerably more complex than Erik, at least until he has a change of heart and realizes the value of family. By this book, he too has become something of an afterthought.

I'm not sure who the main focus of the third book is, which might be one of its issues. This one, however, centers around James' grandchildren, Dash and Jimmy. Dash, as it turns out, is a rather engaging character. I liked both of them quite a bit.

However, I'm afraid that they have now grown up and may become too perfect to be interesting in future books. I also enjoyed Pug in this book, as well as Nakor. The magic in this installment was better than it usually is in Feist's works. Pug actually has a meaningful role to play here, rather than just defeating some impossibly powerful threat to all existence (although there is some of that as well).

I'm not sure when or if I will come back to these books. I really need to discover some new writers.

That was by no means a thrilling conclusion to the serpent war saga.

It felt more like a tooth pulling, a painfully drawn-out stretching of a story that could have been significantly condensed.

The first two thirds of the book were filled with awful political war stories. Characters would go here, kill those people, with wars constantly looming and armies being moved around. Oh no, there was some kind of pattern, but the characters weren't smart enough to figure it out. It was enough to make one roll their eyes. Reading it was a painful experience and I simply did not enjoy it. A major reason for this was the lack of character growth. The characters were all ones we'd met before, and the only ones who changed were the ones who died. Without a central character undergoing some sort of development, the repeated tropes, like "make sure you live, damn you!", ran amok. It was truly awful.

Also, Patrick was a pain, and I was actually sad that he survived the poison attempt.

From the last third, Nakor was always an interesting point. I particularly liked the floating priestess, and the dream of the gods storyline was okay.

The only redeeming factor was the return of the Upright Man at the end.

In conclusion, I would not read this again. It was just awful.

In this series, the author returns to his classic formula and takes us back to the time of a great war involving numerous armies and powerful magical forces, creating a particularly interesting result.

In the first book, we start rather quietly, getting to know our young heroes and their simple lives, which are quickly turned upside down and their entanglements lead them to the heart of the developments.

In the second book, we take a break from the salvation of the world with a story of an enterprising spirit that I think could have been shorter and just been a subplot of the story.

In the third book, the great war reaches its peak as our heroes realize that they are playing for much more than the control of some lands, with the dark forces of the universe seeking destruction. Here, the author truly excels, describing this entire battle in the most engaging way, making us unable to tear ourselves away from reading.

In the fourth book, however, the situation is not so good as after the peak there is not much to say, resulting in it looking like a huge epilogue that, although it has a peak, ultimately the author disappoints us a little. Overall, though, I can say that while it may not reach the first series, it is definitely an excellent example of the genre that I believe will satisfy the fans. There is, of course, action, there is a description of the fantastic world that reaches great depth with the detailed description of its metaphysical dimension, there are many emotional situations - although I believe that in many cases they are written hastily - and generally everything is in its place. So in the end, the first one dedicated to reading is definitely not in vain.

This one just feels... off.

I've never experienced "meh!" with a Feist novel before, but that's precisely how I feel regarding this instalment.

Firstly, it's a grammatical mess. I simply can't be bothered to go back and search for examples, but there are sentences that make no sense at all.

Secondly, any dull-brained half-wit knows that after war, politics follow. However, this is just too political. It borders on being boring at certain points.

After the last instalment, which was truly epic, this one pales in comparison devastatingly. I am actually convinced that a ghost writer was given a much bigger role than they should have been.

You get to know an author's style after reading a number of their books, and this is not Feist's usual delivery. It makes no sense to me that this could be anyone's favourite in the series because of its mediocrity.

All in all, I would rate this book 2.5 stars.

Najbolja knjiga u Serpentwar serijalu!

This book has been sitting on my shelf, half read, for nearly a decade.

I recently decided to re-start it, only to find that it was quite difficult to remember the events and details of the previous books in the series. However, as I delved deeper, I was able to quickly catch up and get back up to speed.

The story in this particular installment had a good blend of action and intrigue. While it might have seemed like a bit of a side-note in the overall plot, it actually served as an excellent stepping stone to re-immerse myself in the series.

One of the亮点 of this story was the significant character development that took place. It was great to get reacquainted with the characters and see how they had grown and changed.

Although the story could be considered a bit of a filler or afterthought, it did a nice job of setting the stage for the future books in the series.

In conclusion, this book is worth reading, but it's not necessarily an amazing or outstanding work. It serves its purpose well and provides an enjoyable read for fans of the series.

I really enjoyed this one. However, there were some aspects that felt a bit unnecessary.

We are mostly following James and Dash, the grandsons of good old Jimmy the Hand. Roo and even Erik have almost completely faded into the background. Erik still gets a bit of attention, but Roo only makes a few cameo appearances here and there. This is a shame because he was easily the most interesting character, and he supposedly underwent a great character change or growth, but we're not really shown much of it.

That being said, James and Dash are very enjoyable and interesting characters, and the plot keeps you hooked. The majority of the plotlines were quite exciting, and as usual in this series, Feist manages to make you like new characters with just a few chapters. The political intrigues were well-developed and made sense.

My only complaint about the book was the supernatural aspect. It didn't offer anything new and it detracted from what could have been a great power struggle between King Fadawah and the Army of the West.

Well, what an amazing ride I had with this book!

I was completely hooked from the very first page. So much so that I actually lost an entire day being engrossed in its pages!

I believe what I cherish the most about every book I've read by Raymond E Feist is their authenticity. Yes, they are fantasy novels, filled with magic, elves, and the occasional dragon. However, what truly sets his books apart for me is the realism he employs in his world-building and his character development.

No matter how powerful or ordinary they may seem, the people in his books possess all the abilities and flaws of real people. You encounter heroes with unappealing habits or bad men who exhibit something that reveals their humanity. This blend makes the story we are reading all the more believable.

It was definitely the case in Shards of a Broken Crown. I was heartbroken at times due to the death of my favorite characters. Yet, I loved that the next generation maintained the same spirit of adventure and heroism as the previous one. After all, true heroism lies in doing something despite the fear of failure, doesn't it?
