Once again, a part from the Saga unfolds. I wish I had discovered this series earlier.

Arthura, Robbie, and Gardaan embark on a journey to figure out who is behind the assassination attempt on Arthura.

With the help of Ryath (a dragon), Puc and Tomas travel to unimagined places to find Macros. With his assistance, they aim to destroy the Enemy.

Sometimes, an opponent suddenly turns out to be your ally.

Some people find these books, especially this one, sexist because women play a subservient role. However, let's not forget that this is a book from the 1980s and it's set in a different world.

Oh yes... there are also dragons in this book!

This adventure-filled story takes readers on a thrilling ride through a fantastical world. The characters face numerous challenges and surprises along the way. The presence of dragons adds an extra element of excitement and wonder. Despite the criticism of sexism, the book offers an engaging plot and vividly描绘的场景. It's a must-read for fans of fantasy literature.

I gave this a star rating back before I was adding reviews to every book.

I am truly sad about that because this book is an outstanding and remarkable ending to a truly great saga. It is a work that truly deserves more attention and acclaim. I wholeheartedly hope that this verbal review will manage to draw an even greater number of readers to the captivating and enchanting flame of Feist's fantasy world!

Even though this particular installment brings the Riftwar Saga to a close, it is important to note that there are many, many more books in the overall series. These additional volumes are there to ensure that the rich and engaging story continues to unfold and evolve, captivating readers for years to come.

Thanks a million to Melissa for so kindly reminding me to come back and recommend this amazing series to others. If you consider yourself a die-hard fantasy fan, then you truly owe it to yourself to embark on this literary journey and read this series.

This experience is very much like a rollercoaster ride.

It starts off slowly, and you're completely unsure (unless you've had the previous experience of riding it) about what's going to unfold.

Then, suddenly, you reach the crest of the hill at the top, and from that moment on, it never slows down.

Once the action commences, starting from the moment the squires tip off to the deception being played, all the way to the very end, it just keeps rolling forward with unwavering momentum.

The defense of Armengar, the intense battle to reach Sethanon, and the epic battle that takes place AT Sethanon - it's all a rollicking adventure.

This is the kind of stuff that you don't come across very often.

There is good fantasy, and then there is truly great fantasy.

This particular work falls firmly into the latter category.

It is likely one of the best trilogies ever written and forms a part of an amazing collection of works.

I highly recommend it.

However, make sure to start from the very beginning to fully appreciate the entire journey.

I'm slightly conflicted about the rating I've given this book.

The problem is that any review of this book will inevitably be a review of the entire Riftwar Saga. Perhaps this novel is a better spiritual successor to Magician than Silverthorn was, as it elaborates more closely on the events of the aforementioned. On the other hand, Silverthorn introduced some pivotal characters and bridged the gap between Magician and A Darkness At Sethanon nicely.

On its own, A Darkness At Sethanon probably garners a rating of 4, rather than 5. But as the wrap up to the Riftwar Saga, well, now that's an entirely different story.

Silverthorn lacked the scope and grandeur of Magician, but A Darkness At Sethanon pushes the epic-needle into the red. I have to agree with another reviewer - there are certain elements here that are better suited to Science Fiction and appear slightly out of place in a Fantasy novel. I'm not sure how Feist pulled it off, but he seems to have done so.

Just how vast is the scope of this novel? Very. Those of you who have read the sequences with Pug and Tomas will know what I'm referring to. It gets positively psychedelic. Once again, this might be considered spoiler territory so I'll refrain from going into details.

The strength of the series lies in how Raymond E. Feist is able to juggle different worlds and settings and make them, and the people inhabiting them, believable. This is certainly a unique series. As for the magic system, I'm not sure I even understand half of it. The mysticism adds to the allure, in my opinion, but that is likely where other reviewers will differ from me.

So, the plot: Murmandamus is back, as we all expected, and we find out that there is a lot more to his crusade than was hinted at in Silverthorn. A LOT more. There are some awesome battle sequences and many surprises. The events in this book cast a whole new light on the events portrayed in Magician and a great few unresolved questions are answered. If you have come this far, you're going to read this in any case. You'd be criminally insane not to.

I enjoyed it immensely. I hope you will too.

A satisfying end to an acceptable fantasy series. The Riftwar books, when compared to modern high fantasy series, do have their drawbacks. However, in their era, they were a significant step for those seeking a substitute for LOTR. At least Feist had the creativity to come up with his own version of The Enemy, rather than simply recycling Tolkien's ideas, changing a few names, and calling it good.

Yes, there are elves, goblins, trolls, and the like. Although they share some characteristics with their counterparts in other fantasy literature, Feist does attempt to make his versions distinct and赋予 them some new and interesting traits. Pug/Milamber (both rather unappealing names for the same man) is a Gary Stu, seemingly capable of learning everything and only rarely making mistakes, and those few mistakes often work out in his favor. Enough familiar faces meet their end to make the story more believable, as not everyone can survive such momentous battles. And some less familiar faces reappear and make a much better impression the second time around.

The siege and battle at Armengar were impressive, only vaguely similar to the siege of Minas Tirith (mostly in the timing of the battle). I was glad to learn about the rather mysterious creation of the city before the book concluded.

This final installment in the series was extremely lacking in what was happening with the female characters we got to know in earlier installments. They seem to have been relegated to household and maternal duties and no longer truly participate in the action. I thought that some scenes from Anita's or Carline's points of view might have been interesting or at least provided a good contrast to the battle zone.

All the major characters seem to be suitably paired off by the end of the book, leaving us to assume that things will proceed happily ever after. However, Feist doesn't linger to examine the aftermath. The story ends when it is clear that all will be well—there is no "Scouring of the Shire" type follow-up.

Overall, the Riftwar series was very good for its day and is probably still a good choice for young readers in search of another story of noble quests and fierce battles.

This particular installment

felt more like a continuation of the second part of Silverthorn rather than a completely distinct book. However, it was still very good.

It managed to bring the Rift War to a rather satisfactory conclusion. The characters, like real people, have the potential to continue their stories.

What I truly appreciated was that so many loose ends were neatly tied up for me. It gave a sense of closure and completeness to the overall narrative.

The author did a great job in weaving together the various plotlines and resolving the conflicts that had been building up throughout the series.

Overall, it was a worthy addition to the Riftwar Saga and left me eager to see what else the author has in store for these characters and this world.

A fitting end to the Riftwar Saga indeed.

However, I do have a couple of gripes. The romantic relationships of Martin and Locklear seem to be overly emphasized in an attempt to draw an emotional response from the reader. But in reality, they come across as rather ridiculous.

The chronic issue that has been plaguing the series as a whole persists. Once again, there are no well-developed women characters. It feels as if Feist made an effort with the creation of an egalitarian warrior society where women are regarded as equal to men. But unfortunately, the three women we encounter only serve as romantic interests for our cast of characters.

Nevertheless, despite its shortcomings, I would still recommend the series to those who have a penchant for fantasy. It has its flaws, but it also has its charms and engaging storylines that can keep readers hooked.

Overall, it's a mixed bag, but for fantasy enthusiasts, it's worth a read.

It is truly very good. This simple phrase holds a great deal of meaning. It can express approval, satisfaction, or a sense of admiration. This is a very solid story indeed.

The author has done an excellent job of world building, creating a vivid and engaging fictional world that draws the reader in and makes them eager to explore more.

The details and descriptions are so rich and well-crafted that it feels as if the world truly exists.

It's not often that a story has such a powerful impact on me, but this one certainly did.

It made me want to read more of the author's work without hesitation.

I'm excited to see what other amazing stories and worlds he has in store for us.

Overall, this is a great piece of writing that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good story with a well-developed world.

I can't wait to see what the future holds for this talented author.

Possibly the most epic novel ever penned, it stands as a resounding triumph within the fantasy genre.

The magician Pug and the warrior-cum-Dragon Lord Tomas embark on a perilous journey through time and space. Their mission? To save the world from an enemy of mysterious and malevolent nature, despite facing seemingly insurmountable odds.

Simultaneously, the noble Prince Arutha confronts a vast horde of unstoppable evil. The story is filled with non-stop action, an abundance of magic and mystery, and extremely likable characters.

All these elements combine to make this book one of the finest fantasy tales ever told. Feist, without a doubt, is one of the greatest fantasy authors, and this novel is truly his personal masterpiece.

It has the power to transport readers to a world of wonder and adventure, captivating their imaginations from start to finish.

Whether you're a die-hard fantasy fan or new to the genre, this book is sure to leave a lasting impression.

I found this to be an extremely satisfying last book in a series (within a series). The Riftwar Saga is truly a haven for some of my all-time favorite characters. Even those characters that I just kind of liked rather than adored all had their proper place and significantly contributed to my enjoyment of this book.

I'm overjoyed not to be suffering from the series hangover that I often experience at the conclusion of a great trilogy. This is because there are still numerous series within a series waiting to be explored and devoured. I've heard nothing but rave reviews about The Empire Trilogy, so I'm incredibly excited to embark on that reading journey soon.

I absolutely loved The Riftwar Saga and would highly recommend it to any avid reader. It's a captivating and engaging series that will keep you hooked from start to finish. So, don't hesitate to give it a try and immerse yourself in this wonderful world of adventure and fantasy.
