The entire book adheres to the "enemies with honor respect each other" trope.

Nevertheless, it is written extremely well, and I derived great pleasure from reading it.

The only drawback is that this book does not belong to a long series.

It would have been wonderful if there were more installments to further explore the characters and their relationships.

Despite this, the author has done an excellent job of creating a captivating story within the confines of a single volume.

The writing is engaging, the plot is interesting, and the characters are well-developed.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story with a touch of honor and respect between enemies.

It's a quick and enjoyable read that will leave you satisfied.

Years after devouring all of Feist's main riftwar books, I have finally managed to pick up the first installment in the Legends series. I'm not entirely certain why I postponed reading these books. Perhaps it was because I was so engrossed in his other works that I simply never found the time. However, now that I have read "Honored Enemy," I can say that it is a truly solid addition to the Riftwar realm.

The story centers around two soldiers who are forced to put aside their differences and learn to work together in order to survive and protect their men. The characters are well-developed and the tale is both engaging and interesting. It's a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

Overall, I would highly recommend "Honored Enemy" to anyone who is a fan of Feist's work or enjoys epic fantasy novels. It's a great read that will transport you to a world of magic, adventure, and danger.

Honored Enemy by Raymond E. Feist and William R. Forstchen is an engaging part of the Legends of the Riftwar series.

The Tsurani, being metal-poor, find themselves in conflict with the residents of Midkemia due to the interplanetary rift that enables their travel. Hartraft’s Marauders, shock troops operating behind enemy lines, aim to demoralize the Tsurani raiders. Their running battle with a troop of Tsurani is unexpectedly interrupted by a third force that stands in contrast to both of them.

Asayaga of the Tsurani and Dennis Hartraft, despite their adversarial relationship, are compelled to discover their similarities. Surrounded by comrades who emphasize both their differences and those commonalities, they face a unique situation. The moredhel or dark elves serve as a counterpoint to the honor shared by Asayaga and Dennis.

The story offers excellent characterizations, revealing both the strengths and weaknesses of men who are made enemies by circumstances. It clearly depicts the toll of hatred and how it can undermine the best of intentions.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to fans of the genre.

This is the first installment of a trilogy titled "Legends of the Riftwar." It delves back in time and zeroes in on a particular event that occurred during the riftwar.

"Honoured Enemy" is a collaborative effort with William R Forstchen. It narrates the story of two distinct groups of soldiers, one from the Kingdom and the other from the Tsurani. They find themselves compelled to join forces in order to vanquish a band of Moredhel.

After reading the underwhelming Riftwar Legacy series, this book was truly a revelation. The characters are simply outstanding, and the authors do an excellent job of allowing the reader to get inside the minds of the vastly different protagonists.

The story departs from traditional fantasy and instead concentrates on the military and social psychology aspects of warfare and its impact on both leaders and troops. Additionally, the book helps to expand on what transpires when elves experience The Returning, and the consequences this has for both the returning elf and his former family and friends.

All things considered, this is an outstanding book. It could be read as a standalone story, and I'm certain it would hold up reasonably well. However, reading it after the Riftwar saga adds an extra layer of comprehension.

This book is an entertaining read, yet it feels like a somewhat frustrating detour when considering the events of the Serpentwar Saga, which is the previous series I delved into within Feist's extensive collection of Midkemia books.

It offers some fun moments, but unfortunately, it is rather predictable. I wouldn't suggest this book to anyone who isn't already deeply involved in the rest of Feist's works. However, for what it is, I did enjoy it.

Nonetheless, I would have much preferred a continuation of the larger overarching story. It would have been more satisfying to see how the events in the Serpentwar Saga progressed and how they intertwined with the broader Midkemia universe.

Despite its flaws, this book still has its charm and can provide some light entertainment for fans of Feist's works.

The story started off rather slowly. There was an excessive amount of military strategy and talk of revenge. It seemed to drag on, making it a bit of a struggle to get through the initial parts.

However, as the narrative progressed, something remarkable happened. The ending turned out to be truly poignant and uplifting. It was as if a ray of hope had suddenly broken through the clouds.

The characters' actions and decisions in the final moments brought a sense of closure and a feeling of inspiration. It made one realize that even in the midst of darkness and turmoil, there is always the possibility of a beautiful and redemptive ending.

Overall, despite the slow start, the story managed to leave a lasting impression with its powerful and moving conclusion. It serves as a reminder that sometimes, we just have to be patient and wait for the good to come.

I started this book without any expectations whatsoever.

It turned out that I more than enjoyed it and once again confirmed to myself why I love reading Faist so much.

I have a certain feeling that the book was written with great ease, that Faist simply sat down and did what he is best at.

He managed, with one excellent story, to at least a little fill the long years of the Riftwar for the Door into the World.

Perhaps it's the way he crafts his characters, making them so real and relatable.

Or maybe it's the intricate and engaging plot that keeps you turning the pages.

Whatever it is, Faist has once again proven himself to be a master storyteller.

This book is a must-read for any fan of fantasy literature.

It will transport you to a world of magic, adventure, and excitement.

So, if you're looking for a great read, look no further than this book by Raymond E. Feist.

It took me a little while to fully understand all the diverse places and races presented in this book.

However, once I did, I found myself enjoying this story.

Admittedly, it had a bit of repetitiveness, but that was outweighed by the excellent character development.

The characters were brought to life in a way that made them truly engaging.

There were several outstanding moments within the book that added to its entertainment value.

These moments kept me hooked and eager to see what would happen next.

Overall, despite its minor flaws, this book was an enjoyable read that offered an interesting exploration of different cultures and characters.

I would recommend it to others who are looking for a story that combines adventure and character-driven narrative.

It's a book that will stay with you long after you've turned the final page.

A weak and boring book...

I have very low expectations for these three books. To be honest, when I first got my hands on them, I didn't have much hope. The covers didn't seem to hold any allure, and the summaries didn't exactly jump out at me.

As I started reading, my initial impressions were unfortunately confirmed. The writing was lackluster, the characters were one-dimensional, and the plots were predictable. There was no excitement, no surprises, and no real depth.

It felt like I was just going through the motions, reading words on a page without really engaging with the story. I found myself constantly looking at the clock, wondering how much longer I had to endure this literary torture.

In conclusion, these three books were a huge disappointment. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for an interesting and engaging read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book many years ago. From what I can vividly recall, it was one of the numerous spin-off novels centered around Feist's original Magician novel. What made this particular one stand out for me was that it presented a distinct viewpoint on the Riftwar saga. As the saying goes, enemies sometimes must 'bury the hatchet'. This novel explored that concept in an interesting way. If you were a fan of Magician, Silverthorn, and A Darkness at Sethanon, there is a high probability that you will also relish this book. It offers a unique perspective and adds another layer to the rich and engaging world that Feist has created.

I have been engaged in Buddy-Reading this remarkable series over the past couple of months with a dear ‘book-club’ friend. She had never delved into the works of Raymond E. Feist before. As for me, I have been a die-hard fan of his literary creations for a long time. I have often compared his works to The Lord of the Rings books, yet I must admit that I have found this series even more enjoyable. When I shared this sentiment with my friend, her interest was immediately piqued, and she was eager to embark on this reading journey. She convinced me to read the series along with her, and it really wasn't a difficult request to fulfill
