I truly have an intense love for Gamma! He is simply amazing and awe-inspiring. His character is not only remarkable but also extremely awesome. What makes him even more endearing is his great sense of humor. He always manages to bring a smile to my face with his witty remarks and comical antics.

I find myself completely captivated by his story and can't wait to explore the rest of the series. I'm eager to see what adventures await Gamma and how his character will develop further. Each time I pick up a book from this series, I'm transported into a world full of excitement and wonder.

The author has done an excellent job of creating such a fascinating character in Gamma. I'm sure that as I continue to read, my love for him will only grow stronger. I'm looking forward to many more hours of enjoying this wonderful series and getting to know Gamma even better.

Cool premise, but I found the first volume was pretty repetitive and boring, to be honest.

It's not that it was terrible, but there was just too much of the same thing happening over and over again.

The story seemed to be going in circles, and I didn't feel like there was much progress or development.

I understand that sometimes a slow build is necessary, but in this case, it just felt like a waste of time.

Maybe the later volumes will be better, but based on the first one, I probably won't be continuing on.

I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting reads, and unfortunately, this one just didn't cut it for me.

It's a shame because the premise had a lot of potential, but it just didn't deliver in the execution.

Oh well, there are plenty of other books out there waiting for me to discover.

Zombiepowder. was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from August 1999 to February 2000. However, it was unfortunately cancelled after just 27 chapters (four volumes) due to Taito Kubo's poor mental health.

I have never read or watched his most famous series Bleach, but when I looked at his art style, I was immediately intrigued. Taito Kubo is truly one of the most talented mangakas. His work is of a very high niveau, especially considering he was only 21 years old at the time. It is exciting to think about how his art skills and narrative style will continue to evolve over time.

It is also interesting to note that the initial concept of Gamma was that of a samurai, so it was clearly not set in a western-themed environment. In fact, Zombiepowder. originally would have been titled "Samurai Drive". This shows the creative process and the evolution of ideas that can occur during the development of a manga.

Overall, Taito Kubo is a fascinating mangaka with a unique art style and a lot of potential. I look forward to seeing what he will create in the future.

Tite Kubo, Zombie Powder: The Man with the Black Hand (ViZ, 1999)

Tite Kubo is widely renowned nowadays as the author of Bleach, one of the top-selling manga in history. However, before the creation of Bleach, there was Zombie Powder, Kubo's initial miniseries. It consists of only four volumes, in contrast to Bleach which has now exceeded thirty volumes. For a long time, it was extremely difficult to obtain, but fortunately, ViZ has shown mercy to us Bleach enthusiasts and released it in America. Finally.

In the first installment of Zombie Powder, we are introduced to Elwood, a young boy who has resorted to pickpocketing to earn money for his sister's heart medication. (This plot sounds familiar, doesn't it?) Everything changes when he encounters Gamma, an extraordinary class S thief. Gamma is not only a class S criminal but also hunts bounty hunters in his spare time (and sometimes even collects bounties himself). Elwood becomes attracted to Gamma when he discovers that Gamma is searching for the Rings of Death. These twelve bands, when combined, will produce Zombie Powder, which has the power to raise the dead or make someone immortal. Of course, it turns out that everyone else in Elwood's town is also vying for the Rings of Death, including Elwood's boss...

I must admit that Zombie Powder, at least in the first installment, might be the most violent manga I have ever read. (The main difference between this and manga like Bleach or One Piece is that the injured characters actually die from time to time. You might not think this is a significant change in perspective, but trust me, it is.) And yes, this includes Reiko the Zombie Shop. It is also more talkative and not as polished as Bleach, but you can observe the beginnings of Kubo's later work in these early pages. And the story, as much as we have seen here anyway, is a promising starting point. It is quite likable. *** ½

This is Tite Kubo's work before Bleach.

And it's truly fascinating to observe how it paved the way for Bleach.

There are indeed some vague similarities, and the art style is reminiscent of the first few volumes of Bleach.

However, they also differ in their own distinct ways.

Zombie Powder is yet another one of those so-so manga.

It didn't really stand out much, but at the same time, it wasn't bad either.

The characters were just okay; they didn't have that special something to make them truly memorable.

The plot was interesting, but it lacked uniqueness.

In the beginning, the story flow was smooth, but later on, it became inconsistent and confusing.

It ended abruptly, leaving the readers completely unsatisfied.

Overall, it's a manga that you can use to pass the time, but it's not something that you should specifically go out of your way to look for.

It has its flaws, but it also has some redeeming qualities that might appeal to some readers.

I got a very strong Bleach feel from this book. The story seems to have a similar style and atmosphere, which is quite appealing.

However, I was not as interested in the characters. They didn't really grab my attention or make me feel a strong connection. Maybe it's because I haven't delved deep enough into their backstories and personalities.

It's possible that later books could grow on me. As the story progresses, the characters might develop and become more interesting. But at this point, I'd need someone to really recommend this series for me to bother continuing. I want to know if there are any hidden gems or plot twists that would make it worth my while.

Overall, while the Bleach feel is nice, the lack of character interest is holding me back. I'll have to wait and see if someone can convince me to give this series another chance.

I'm truly bummed that this series is so short.

It's such a pity because I really wish it continued.

The 12 Rings of the Dead have this amazing power to bring people back from the dead and bestow eternal life.

So, it's only natural that people are eager to hunt these rings.

Early on in the story, we are introduced to Elwood.

He is stealing in order to support his ill older sister.

Then enters Gamma Akutabi.

Gamma has been on a quest to hunt the rings so that he can achieve immortality.

Through a series of events, they end up traveling together, in search of the rings.

Along the way, we also meet Gamma's partner, C.T. Smith.

They have to battle various villains such as Spinboy, Kinqro Mujata, Buckley, and Diran.

Their journey is filled with excitement, danger, and mystery.

It's a pity that the series is cut short, as there are still so many possibilities and adventures that could have been explored.

I really hope there will be more to come in the future.

The art style of this work was truly a classic.

It was not only visually appealing but also carried a certain charm that could draw the audience in.

I also greatly enjoyed the design of the villains.

They were presented in a way that was both menacing and interesting, making them stand out in the story.

Among them, Gamma caught my attention.

I think I would have liked to get to know him better.

As of yet, he remains a mysterious cool guy, which adds to his allure.

His protégé, on the other hand, has more personality and a more detailed backstory.

Perhaps this is all part of the author's plan to add intrigue and keep the readers guessing.

Overall, the combination of the classic art style and the well-designed characters makes this work a truly enjoyable one.

I think it was a Banger. There must have been 30 years ago, lol.

Looking back, that moment seems so distant yet still vivid in my mind. It was like a flash of lightning that illuminated a particular era. Maybe it was a song, a movie, or an event that left an indelible mark on me. The memory lingers, and whenever I think of it, a smile不自觉地creeps onto my face. It's those kinds of experiences that make life rich and full of stories. I wonder if others who were there at that time also remember it with the same fondness. Even after all these years, it still holds a special place in my heart.

Although time has passed, the essence of that Banger remains. It serves as a reminder of a bygone era and the emotions and memories associated with it. It's truly a remarkable thing how a single moment can have such a lasting impact.

This manga offers a wonderful combination of elements. There are exciting battles that keep you on the edge of your seat, filled with intense action and strategic moves. The humour injected throughout adds a light-hearted touch, making it enjoyable and entertaining. The challenges that the characters face are not only thrilling but also contribute to their character building. It's truly an easy manga to sink into, as it quickly grabs your attention and draws you into its world. I have a strong feeling that as I continue to read more, I'll become even more invested in the characters and the story. For now, the concept alone is enough to keep me engaged and eager to see what comes next.

It has the potential to be a great read, and I'm looking forward to exploring more of its pages.
