I recognize that this book is targeted at children. However, even with that in mind, the oversimplification of trauma within its pages was truly disappointing. Trauma is a complex and deeply profound subject that should not be watered down or presented in a simplistic manner. Children deserve to have a more accurate understanding of the hardships and difficulties that can occur in life. By oversimplifying trauma, the book fails to do justice to the real experiences and emotions that children may encounter. It is important to provide children with age-appropriate but also meaningful and comprehensive information about trauma, so that they can better cope with and make sense of the challenges that come their way. This book, unfortunately, falls short in this regard, leaving readers with a less than satisfactory portrayal of such an important topic. Hopefully, future books for children will take a more nuanced and sensitive approach to addressing trauma.
