I'm not sure if it's an unpopular opinion or not, but I have a special affection for the earlier stories of Tomie.

The art style in those early tales is simpler, and Tomie looks like a real teenage girl with softer lines. It gives her a more relatable and down-to-earth appearance.

However, I also appreciate how in the later stories, the art evolves to make her look even more appealing in a supernatural way. It truly suits the progression of the narrative. With each death and rebirth, she seems to become less human, which is an interesting artistic choice.

It might seem strange to say that Tomie is more grounded compared to some of Junji Ito's other stories, like those involving balloons with people's faces or a chair that someone lives in. But there's just something about Tomie that makes it feel that way to me.

Tomie is probably my favorite work of his that I've read so far. I often find myself wishing that he would create another book with Tomie as the main character. While there are a few scattered stories where she appears, she's not always the central focus.

I still really want to get my hands on those additional stories. In fact, just a few seconds ago, I discovered that there's a third volume! I keep learning about these new installments and then promptly forgetting about them until I reread and check on Goodreads. It's quite humorous really.

I'm excited to explore this new volume and see what new horrors and intrigues Tomie has in store.

Junji Ito is an extremely perturbing and yet fascinating artist. His works have a unique charm that keeps drawing me in.

His detailed and grotesque illustrations are enough to send shivers down your spine. The way he portrays horror and the macabre is truly masterful.

Whether it's the distorted figures, the eerie landscapes, or the spine-tingling storylines, Junji Ito has a way of making you feel both scared and captivated at the same time.

I love how his art challenges our perception of the normal and forces us to confront our deepest fears. It's like he's taking us on a wild and terrifying ride through the darkest corners of our imagination.

Despite the disturbing nature of his work, there's something strangely addictive about it. I can't get enough of Junji Ito's perturbing art, and I'm always eager to see what he comes up with next.

The storylines of these mangas are truly rather repetitive. In fact, I can summarize them in just one sentence! A girl named Tomie, who is supposed to be extremely gorgeous, causes various men to fall deeply in love with her and drives them to the verge of madness. And when they chop her up and kill her, she appears in strange, gory, and terrifying ways.

I made a mistake by reading 2 before 1. 2 has a much higher quality and entertainment factor compared to 1. If I had read 1 first, I would have enjoyed it a great deal more than I actually did. Nevertheless, this is a fairly entertaining manga series! However, it should be noted that since the storylines are quite repetitive, it would probably be a good idea to read them in order and farther apart than I did. This way, the repetitiveness might not feel as overwhelming, and one can better appreciate the unique aspects of each installment.

Overall, despite the repetitiveness, the manga series still has its charm and can provide an entertaining read for those who are interested in this genre.

Body horror is an extremely interesting and captivating genre. It delves into the disturbing and grotesque aspects of the human body, exploring themes such as mutation, transformation, and the breakdown of physical boundaries.

The concept of body horror can be traced back to ancient mythology and folklore, but it has gained significant popularity in modern times through various forms of media, including literature, film, and art.

One of the reasons why body horror is so appealing is its ability to tap into our deepest fears and anxieties. The sight of a distorted or mutilated body can evoke a sense of disgust, fear, and even fascination.

Moreover, body horror often serves as a metaphor for larger social and psychological issues. It can be used to explore themes such as identity, gender, sexuality, and the human condition.

In conclusion, body horror is a unique and exciting genre that offers a fascinating exploration of the human body and the darker aspects of our psyche. Whether you are a fan of horror or simply interested in exploring new and different forms of art, body horror is definitely worth checking out. 4.25/5

Robot, Which Leaves an Ambiguous Impression

Overall, it's not bad. The manga well conveys the atmosphere of fear and tension, and the illustrations beautifully emphasize the thrilling moments. However, sometimes the reading felt a bit dull. Some parts of the story were a bit drawn-out, lacking in tempo, and it was difficult to maintain attention.

If you like scary stories with an unusual plot, this manga can be interesting, although not always dynamic.

Separately, I would like to add that the book's design is excellent.

"da li smo usadili fetus umesto bubrega?" This is a rather strange and thought-provoking question.

It makes us wonder about the possibilities and implications. Could there have been such a mix-up?

Perhaps in a fictional or extremely unlikely scenario, this could occur.

However, in the real world, the process of organ transplantation is highly regulated and precise.

Medical professionals take every precaution to ensure the correct organs are transplanted.

But this question still manages to capture our attention and make us think about the boundaries of medical procedures and the potential for errors.

It also highlights the importance of strict quality control and verification in the field of transplantation.

Overall, while the idea of transplanting a fetus instead of a kidney may seem far-fetched, it serves as a reminder of the need for constant vigilance and improvement in the medical field.

Tomie is a collection of horror stories whose protagonist is a girl of the same name. She is very beautiful, capricious, and a bit strange. She drives men crazy with her beauty and makes them do crazy things. I won't comment more because I think the best thing is to discover the details little by little.

My friend Tomie has died. Pieces of her body have been found in several places.

This is the beginning of the story. It's strange to start with the protagonist dead, but you'll see that there's a reason for this. In total, we have 9 stories, almost all of them conclusive, which allows for reading in small doses. I think this is appropriate because large doses of Junji Ito can be harmful to your mental health.

I'll just say that if you like strange, disturbing, and a bit sick horror, this is for you. Although it's not my favorite genre, I quite enjoyed this volume. One can't deny the display of imagination that Junji Ito has. The stories are mostly very original, although they usually follow a general pattern. But this is due to the characteristics and qualities of the character.

3,5 ⭐️

I absolutely love Junji Ito's manga. They are all extremely strange and unique.

I really enjoyed following the story of Tomie. Although I felt sorry for the victims, I also had a bit of empathy for her. Just imagine that shit, everyone wanting to kill you. I can understand her desire for revenge.

The first story was the most absurd one for me. It was the one that caused me the most outrage and indignation. I must read the continuation next.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what other crazy and disturbing stories Junji Ito has in store for us. His art style is so detailed and creepy that it really adds to the overall atmosphere of the manga.

Overall, I would highly recommend Junji Ito's manga to anyone who enjoys horror and the macabre. It's not for the faint of heart, but if you can handle it, it's definitely worth checking out.

Brutal, como siempre.

This simple phrase holds a world of meaning. It implies a sense of harshness and severity that is unwavering.

It could describe a person's actions, a situation, or even an entire era.

The word "brutal" evokes images of violence, cruelty, and a lack of mercy.

It is a word that strikes fear and awe in equal measure.

And when we say "como siempre," we are emphasizing that this brutality is not something new or unexpected.

It is a constant, a part of the fabric of life.

Whether we are facing a difficult task at work, a challenging relationship, or a global crisis, the reality is often brutal.

But it is in these moments of brutality that we are also given the opportunity to show our strength and resilience.

We can choose to rise above the harshness and find a way to move forward.

We can choose to be kind and compassionate, even in the face of brutality.

For it is only through our actions that we can hope to make a difference in this world.

Is it my impression or does Tomie become more beautiful as the pages turn?

Tomie is basically a femme fatale. She is very beautiful and all men fall in love with her, but for some reason they end up going crazy and killing and/or dismembering her.

I had wanted to read Tomie for a long time to complete my list of Junji Ito mangas that I wanted to read, and although I'm missing the second volume (and Paradox), I think it met my expectations. This is a horror manga, so I don't recommend reading it after or before eating because there are some scenes that are really disgusting.

I'm not going to lie to you. After the first story (I think), Tomie started to piss me off. A real pain in the ass. Like, let's see how many times you're going to regenerate? Besides, sometimes she was really bitchy to other girls. Not very sisterly at all. At first I understood that it was for revenge, but then you realize that she's just a damned monster, haha. And the men are one more idiotic than the other. At a certain point you wonder why none of them think with their upper heads. Jail and psychiatric ward for all of them.

Putting aside the rudimentary art from the first couple of chapters, this was truly incredible.

The story had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The characters were well-developed and the plot was full of twists and turns that kept me guessing.

The art, although simple in the beginning, really came into its own as the story progressed. It added an extra layer of atmosphere and creepiness to the already engaging narrative.

Definitely my favorite Ito work I've read to date. I can't wait to see what else he has in store for us.

Tomie is a work that, while not as terrifying as the cosmic-horror style of Uzumaki, still embodies the unique madness characteristic of Junji Ito.

It combines mystery, horror, and thriller elements in a seamless way.

The story of Tomie is filled with strange and disturbing events that keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

Her beauty is both alluring and deadly, and her presence seems to bring out the worst in those around her.

As the plot unfolds, the reader is drawn deeper into a world of insanity and terror, never quite sure what will happen next.

Overall, Tomie is a captivating and chilling work that showcases Junji Ito's talent for creating truly unique and unforgettable horror.
