I read one of the best horror manga in my life.

The story about the beauty Tomie, who never dies and drives men crazy has long become my favorite. And I can't hide my obsession with this character

Revenge can be multiplied.

When someone wrongs us, our initial reaction might be to seek revenge. However, what we often fail to realize is that revenge has a way of snowballing and causing more harm than good.

Let's say Person A hurts Person B. In retaliation, Person B decides to get revenge on Person A. This act of revenge might then prompt Person A to seek further revenge, and the cycle continues.

Not only does this cycle of revenge lead to more pain and suffering for both parties involved, but it can also have a negative impact on those around them. Friends, family, and even society as a whole can be affected by the never-ending cycle of revenge.

Instead of succumbing to the temptation of revenge, it is often better to try and find a more peaceful and constructive solution. This could involve forgiveness, communication, or seeking the help of a mediator.

By choosing to break the cycle of revenge, we can avoid multiplying the harm and instead work towards creating a more harmonious and peaceful world.

"Tomie" is a highly concentrated body horror of the highest grade. It's no wonder Junji Ito is called the emperor of horror in manga. His stories are fantastical, godlike, and very detailed. Each narrative has a complete plot, excellent character development, and an ideal balance in the portrayal of images and dialogues.

I would like to emphasize that the illustrations are wonderful - there are so many details, such depth of depiction, clarity of images, and a phenomenal attention to the plausibility of human and other creature anatomies. And it's not surprising, as Ito drew his monsters from anatomical atlases, and he himself has a near-medical education and worked as a dental technician. I have an inexhaustible respect for such an approach.

Both volumes made me feel queasy and uncomfortable. Some of the stories were very disgusting. And this is a sign of quality for the genre, isn't it?

At the same time, as a representative of Western mentality, I wanted to uncover the subtext of the stories about Tomie, because can horrors just be horrors? (Actually, they can, and the Japanese are incredibly masterful in creating them). The result of my thoughts on this topic was the theory that Tomie is the subconscious fear of a man, a representative of an entrenched patriarchal society, whose main fear is a woman's escape from male control, female freedom. And the author depicts this fear in that a woman who is free from constraints kills and poses a mortal danger to a man. Although I may be wrong, and in general, let's leave these theories to the psychoanalysts

It may seem like an exaggerated note, but it's been a long time since I got hooked on a manga like this. And although I've read comments saying that some stories are horrible, what can I tell you!? I liked ALL of them!

The only drawback I would mention is that I confuse all the characters again. Especially with the girls, it's very difficult for me to tell them apart from each other (thank goodness for Tomie's mole).

P.S. Although I have volume two in my hand, I'm going to wait to read it.

P.S. A thousand thanks to Alberto for letting me read his mangas.

It was ok.

Could be much much MUCH better.

Here's my problem, I get it. Junji Ito is the new sensation and everything, he's awesome, his artwork is great (mostly) and his stories from what I've read so far are mostly good, with amazing ideas. However, the execution is what I have a problem with.

See, there's a main theme in his stories. And there are episodes of sorts in each chapter. After chapter, something happens to someone you don't care about in the slightest and it's pretty much insignificant to the main story most of the time. But it happens so you can see some creepy dismemberment or something like that.

There's no character development and that's just what hurts me the most. The characters' reactions and choices are mostly dumb as fuck without reason or logic and that also hurts my intelligence.

Other than that, it's fun to read and you for sure want to see what happens next and at the end. But it was a chore to read some of the stories and that takes it down a star, sadly.

PS. No. It wasn't as good as Uzumaki.

In conclusion, while Junji Ito has great ideas and impressive artwork, the lack of character development and the sometimes pointless and illogical plot elements prevent his stories from reaching their full potential. It's still an interesting read, but it could have been so much better.

Ok. Suddenly things got even weirder than usual around here.

And I loved it.

I had extremely high expectations for this manga because my history with Junji Ito already has a certain time (Uzumaki❤️). And I'm very happy not to have been disappointed. Not only is the story extremely fun (in a morbid way), but this edition of Pipoca & Nanquim looks beautiful (there's something about the fact that there's a cover that really gets to me).

Going on to what matters, the story of "Tomie" is contained in two volumes which, from what I understood of the first volume, are like an anthology of several not necessarily connected short stories. There are some characters who survive more than one story (indicating some connection), but this is not the rule. All of these stories involve the presence of Tomie, a mysterious girl and whose simple presence makes men fall in love with her. The only problem is that this passion soon turns into a murderous instinct directed towards the girl. I'm not going to go into the merit of this premise of an adolescent who seduces boys just by existing and that these guys, then, go crazy with the desire to kill her, because yes, it's very problematic. A talk for another time, but that I would really like to have.

If you already know something about Junji Ito, know that you will find 60% of these things here. "Tomie" was the first manga he made, at 24 years old, so we can notice, especially in the drawings, that all the potential of the author and artist, at the time, had not yet been unlocked. If everything is new to you, think of "The Scream" or "The Call" (in the original versions), only with gore at speed 5. And then be prepared to be scared in the first parts, when you're caught off guard, and then be afraid to turn each page, like I was.

Read it if you like Japanese horror/thriller, stories without a very clear ending and things that happen out of nowhere without much explanation, but that leave you so shocked that you don't even have much time to think straight.

4.5 potongan tubuh berdarah-darah penuh teror. This description seems to suggest a very intense and disturbing scene. It might be related to a horror movie, a violent video game, or a particularly graphic piece of art. The idea of 4.5 severed, bloody body parts is enough to send shivers down one's spine. It makes one wonder what kind of story or experience could lead to such a gruesome sight. Perhaps it's a tale of a deranged killer, a supernatural entity, or a scientific experiment gone wrong. Whatever the case may be, it's clear that this is not for the faint of heart. Those who are brave enough to explore this review or watch the related video will surely be in for a wild and terrifying ride.

If at first I thought that Tomie was herself to blame for what happened to her, then her story unfolded a little more interestingly and mysteriously later on.

What can I say? It was aesthetically pleasing, thrilling, and in some places even terrifying, but not so captivating that I immediately wanted to pick up the second volume.

The story had its moments of intrigue and suspense, with Tomie's strange and alluring nature drawing in those around her.

However, there were also parts that felt a bit drawn out or lacking in depth.

Overall, it was an okay read, but not one that left a lasting impression on me.

Perhaps the second volume will offer more excitement and development to make it a more engaging series.

Only time will tell if I decide to continue exploring Tomie's world.

Tomie, the first work of the famous author, consists of a short section in a weekly magazine. This book is also a compilation of these sections. Since readers read the magazine in the form of "let's see what will happen in Tomie this time", the format of the story is also determined accordingly. There was a similar format in Uzumaki, which we can call the author's masterful work, but when all the numbers came together, it created a unity. Here, however, everything is different and unrelated except for a three-part story. In such a situation, I couldn't hold myself. Instead, I opened it in the middle, read a section and closed it. If you have read Junji Ito before in terms of story and drawing, you know what you will find. The three-part long story was the one I liked the most among the stories. The element of curiosity was present only in that one. In the others, it was too obvious how things would turn out. Once you understand the formula, the pleasure of reading the same incident happening over and over again is gone.

I think by reading the first series, one will know why Tomie is like what she is now. Unfortunately, until the last page, there is no such chapter. I really hope there is an additional story about the beginning of why this and that could happen to Tomie.

I once felt sorry for Tomie, but when I look at her behavior, it really makes me angry.

From the first chapter to the last page, the change in Junji Ito's way of drawing Tomie can be seen. In the first story, Tomie is still a bit strange. But as it progresses, she becomes more and more beautiful, cruel, and of course, annoying.

This evolution of Tomie's character and appearance adds an interesting layer to the overall narrative. It makes the reader both fascinated and repulsed by her. The lack of a clear explanation for her origin only heightens the mystery and makes the reader more eager to know more.

Maybe in future installments, Junji Ito will reveal the secrets behind Tomie's existence and actions. Until then, readers will continue to be captivated by this unique and disturbing character.

This is a disturbing manga, with a beautiful girl as the protagonist.

I liked the story as such, although in each chapter the same situation is repeated with different characters.

Even though it progresses slowly, it doesn't bore you because the drawings are very descriptive and in the middle, you get to know some key situations that have occurred.

It's not as terrifying as I thought, but I still lack part 2, so I hope to finish this one to fully analyze this manga.

I really appreciate the unique style and the way the story unfolds.

The protagonist's charm and the mysterious atmosphere keep me engaged throughout.

Despite the repetition, there are still some details that catch my attention and make me want to know more.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the story continues in part 2 and what new surprises it will bring.

Overall, this manga has its own characteristics and I'm eager to explore it further.

Hanya butuh sekali duduk untuk gue nyelesaiin manga ini. The premise of this manga by Junji Ito focuses on Tomie, a young woman who is incredibly beautiful but carries a deadly curse. Her beauty is so captivating that it attracts everyone, especially men, to the point where they become insanely obsessed. This obsession often leads to acts of violence, murder, and madness. Even though Tomie is frequently killed by those around her, she always returns to life in a terrifying way, including having regeneration and the ability to split herself, which I find quite creepy.
