Ryuk is a death god who is really going all out. He decides to create some chaos by simply dropping the death note into the human world, not really caring about anything else. He has a great and entertaining sidekick appeal with a "Whatever" attitude, except when it comes to apples. After all, vitamins are important for one's health.

The detectives in the story seem to be better people than the protagonists. They bring the question of how absolute power corrupts back into the spotlight. This is the most important red line of the work, aside from the ethical questions and the investigative fun.

Light's transformation is also a key aspect. As soon as he begins to kill for egoistic rather than altruistic reasons, his morality compass switches to evil. In this case, Light should have continued doing normal business by only killing criminals. However, on the other hand, if he didn't protect himself from the investigators, he wouldn't be able to crush the monsters anymore. So, what is the best ethical solution? There isn't any. Because if Light were arrested, the criminals could kill many more people than he has to exterminate to avoid getting caught. So, what is worth more, the life of one cop or the many lives of civilians?

This manga is not only funny, deep, and entertaining, but its sheer complexity is amazing. It makes the reader stop so often to think about the implications for real justice and life that it's hard to just read without the feeling of missing some sophisticated auto mind penetration. It is truly one of the milestones that all great future works of the subgenre will be compared with.

Volume 2 is truly even better than Volume 1.

Light has clearly drawn a line, and it's debatable whether he was ever an anti-hero to begin with. In this volume, he has committed a plethora of truly terrible things.

Light remains as intelligent as ever. I am truly in awe of how he anticipates and plans for every single eventuality. If he were just a regular person, he would have been caught long ago.

L is equally as intelligent as Light. I highly doubt that anyone else would have been able to make any significant progress in a case as complex as this one.

I find myself on the edge of my seat, eagerly waiting to read the next volume and discover what unfolds next.

I have to say that I adored this volume even more than the first one. Light and L are truly both masterminds. It is truly fascinating to observe how they react to each other's moves and strategies. The way they outwit and counter each other keeps me on the edge of my seat. Their mental battles are so intense and engaging. I find myself completely immersed in their world, eagerly following every step of their conflict. The story is full of twists and turns, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I have a strong desire for a DEATH NOTE. It seems so fascinating and powerful. The idea of being able to control life and death with just a notebook is extremely appealing to me. And having my own Shinigami by my side would make it even more exciting.

Regarding L, I just can't stand his strange behavior. He acts so peculiarly and his monkey-like sitting posture is really off-putting. I firmly believe that Kira is in the right and has a just cause.

Now, I'm really eager to know where I can find the next installment of this story. I can't wait to see what happens next and how the conflict between Kira and L will unfold.

After the nail-biting end to volume one, I launched straight into volume two without hesitation.

The book simply doesn't let up. It maintains a consistently fast pace, with an edgy and smart narrative that is truly captivating. The writing is of such high quality that it is seriously addictive.

Once again, I find myself constantly amazed by the rapid pace at which everything is advancing. L is grasping and understanding things with remarkable speed. Nevertheless, this is truly a wonderful concept, and the plot is being developed and pushed forward in a really excellent manner.

However, I must mention that this volume concluded rather abruptly. It left me with a sense of incompleteness, as if there was more that could have been explored or expanded upon.

Also, although it may seem like a rather insignificant issue, it annoys me greatly when the text within the speech bubbles is randomly pushed close to the edge instead of being centered. This small detail can sometimes disrupt the visual flow and make it a bit more difficult to read and fully engage with the story.

Overall, despite these minor drawbacks, I am still highly enjoying this series and look forward to seeing how the plot continues to unfold in the future volumes.

In this volume, we are treated to a more extensive portrayal of L. Not only do we finally see his face, but we also begin to gain a deeper understanding of his motives and character. His unique personality and brilliant mind add an extra layer of intrigue to the story.

Moreover, a rather cool female character is introduced, which is a welcome addition. Her presence enriches the narrative and brings a new perspective to the unfolding events.
