A very interesting shonen, based on the game of go.

It's a bit of a departure from the usual shonen.

Thank goodness!

The story likely follows the adventures of a young protagonist who discovers the world of go and becomes passionate about it.

As he delves deeper into the game, he faces various challenges and opponents, both on and off the go board.

Perhaps he meets other players who become his rivals or friends, and together they form a community of go enthusiasts.

The shonen may explore themes such as determination, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence.

It could also show how the game of go can teach valuable life lessons and help the protagonist grow as a person.

Overall, this shonen seems to offer a unique and engaging take on the genre, with the game of go at its core.

**"Hikaru no Go: A Captivating Manga Series"**

"Hikaru no Go" is an absolute gem of a manga series that has captured my heart. It tells the story of Hikaru Shindō, a boy who discovers the ancient game of Go after finding a haunted board in his grandfather's shed. The spirit of Sai, a Heian period Go master, inhabits the board and guides Hikaru on his journey to becoming a Go player. As Hikaru progresses, he faces numerous challenges and rivals, but with Sai by his side, he grows and matures both as a player and as a person.

The series is not only a great coming-of-age story but also a fascinating exploration of the world of Go. The insei system, the professional Go circuit, and the strategies and techniques of the game are all depicted in great detail. The characterisation is excellent, with each character having their own unique personality and backstory. Hikaru is a relatable and likeable protagonist, while Sai is a kind and wise mentor. The other characters, such as Akira, Isumi, and the various professionals, also add depth and complexity to the story.

What I love most about "Hikaru no Go" is how it makes me feel. As a chess player, I can relate to Hikaru's passion for the game and his desire to improve. The series also touches on themes such as friendship, loss, and the importance of following your dreams. The two lines I mentioned earlier are some of the most powerful and moving in the series, and they never fail to bring a tear to my eye. Overall, "Hikaru no Go" is a must-read for anyone who loves manga, Go, or just a great story.

I think this is a really good book.

One of the main reasons is that it never gets boring. From the very beginning, it grabs your attention and keeps you engaged throughout.

The illustrations in the book are also quite good. They add another dimension to the story and make it even more vivid.

However, there is one thing that I have to complain about. That is, Hikaru is just a little too much about himself. He seems to always be in the spotlight and focus on his own thoughts and feelings.

This can sometimes make it a bit difficult to relate to him or understand his actions.

Overall, though, I still think this is a great book and would recommend it to others.

Well, I decided to read all 23 volumes of Hikaru no Go again.

It is truly a remarkable work. The illustrations are beautifully drawn, and the story is engaging and well-researched, with Yukari Umezawa 5 dan P serving as the supervisor.

The characters in the story develop in interesting ways. Some of them I absolutely adored, while others really got under my skin, which I think is a good sign as it shows the depth of the characters.

And the fact that it's about Go makes it even more special. I have a passion for games, but Hikaru no Go is definitely at the top of my list. Reading it again inspired me to replay Shusaku's games.

Although I'm not a top-notch player, it's incredibly fun and rewarding.

Hikaru no Go is well worth reading as it takes you to a different world, the world of professional Go players, where the action and fighting occur on the board. This action is vividly portrayed in all the drawings.

I encourage you to give it a try. Hopefully, you'll get hooked on this game, which has the potential to change your life or the way you think about life. It's a very inspiring game, and Hikaru no Go confirms this.

So, go ahead and read Hikaru no Go, and don't forget to play Go as well.

Huh... I read this because I've been telling my students for years that I would like to read a graphic novel.

Today, a student put it in my hands and said I really had to read this book. I did not have high expectations, and unfortunately, it was disappointing even then.

Not great at all. While I am curious about the game go, that's about all that was interesting. The character development was extremely limited. They were very flat, and no one even changed. Hikaru started as a twit and ended as a twit.

Seriously, what is a reader supposed to take away from this book? It seems rather lackluster and unfulfilling.

And why on earth do you end a book literally in the middle of a scene? This seems nothing more than a terribly bogus way to sell the next book. It's quite frustrating for the reader who is left hanging without any real resolution.

I'm really not impressed with this graphic novel and would not recommend it to others.

One of my all-time favorite series is truly a gem.

I absolutely adored the anime and was equally captivated by the manga. The matches are not just exciting but truly thrilling, and the rivalry between Hikaru and Akira is simply the best part.

On a recent reread, I found that it was still just as good as ever. I have a particular fondness for Akira and Hikaru's first battles. That moment when Hikaru stylishly places the stone down is truly unforgettable. This series has managed to make the act of placing stones in Go seem so incredibly cool.

However, I have a query. Is this book censored? In book 2, it was clearly depicted that he was putting out a cigarette on the board. But in this volume, it has been changed to a piece of gum. Was this scene redrawn? It makes me wonder if there were some editorial decisions made to alter the content.

Overall, despite this small疑惑, I still highly recommend this series to all fans of engaging and exciting stories.

I have an absolute passion for the premise of this series.

We have a bratty yet happy-go-lucky middle school boy named Shindo Hikaru. One day, he encounters a childlike, Go-obsessed, thousand-year-old ghost named Fujiwara-no-Sai through a haunted goban (Go Board). In order to placate the ghost, Hikaru makes the decision to let Sai play Go through him from time to time.

However, what they don't know is that one of the very first people they play against is Toya Akira, a Go prodigy who is the same age as Hikaru. This leads to the emergence of conflict.

The story up until now is progressing extremely well, and the art is truly wonderful. The cast of characters is both plentiful and endearing. My personal favorite among them is Fujiwara-no-Sai.

One complaint that I have, which is a pet peeve of mine, is that the translator chose not to use Japanese honorifics. They also introduced the characters in the Western convention and had people call others by their given names when they just met.

All in all, it's a great start to the series, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the rest.

A ne'er-do-well kid stumbles upon a Go board while rummaging through his grandfather's basement. Little does he know that this seemingly ordinary board is haunted by the ghost of one of the greatest Go players in history. As soon as he touches the board, he gets possessed by the spirit.

The ghost, who has only one thing on his mind - playing Go - takes over the kid's body. The kid is now forced to enter the world of Go, a world he knew nothing about before.

To his surprise, the kid starts to find some direction in this new world. He discovers a rival who challenges him at every turn. But along with the excitement of the game, he also gets into trouble.

It's truly amazing how much drama and excitement can be created by a game like Go, where two people sit still for the entire duration. The kid's journey in the world of Go is filled with challenges, rivalries, and unexpected twists and turns.

Will he be able to break free from the ghost's possession and find his own path in life? Only time will tell.

If not for my memory of reading the first volume in English and watching the whole anime, I would've been completely lost when it came to the Go parts.

Reading it in Japanese is currently a bit beyond my level. There are an abundance of technical terms related to Go that I only have a limited understanding of in English, let alone in Japanese.

Nonetheless, aside from that, I was able to follow the story to some extent, and I did manage to understand the simpler parts where Sai was pointing at the board. I didn't have to rely solely on my memory for that.

It's quite a challenge to fully comprehend the text in its original language, especially when it involves such a complex game with its own set of jargon. But I'm still determined to improve my language skills and gain a better understanding of the story and the game of Go.

Perhaps with more practice and study, I'll be able to read and understand the Japanese text without too much difficulty in the future. For now, I'll continue to enjoy the story and learn as much as I can from it.

I have a growing curiosity about the game GO at present.

The plot of it is rather interesting.

I typically have strong feelings towards manga and graphic novels, either loving them deeply or hating them with a passion. However, I found this one to be quite compelling, albeit not to an extremely high degree.

I can clearly envision the appeal it holds for young readers. In fact, I have decided that I am going to obtain the entire series for my summer school class.

I believe it will not only provide an engaging reading experience for the students but also potentially spark their interest in the game of GO itself.

This could open up a whole new world of exploration and learning for them during the summer months.

I am looking forward to seeing how they respond to this unique and captivating series.

What a throwback indeed!

As a teenager, I had an intense love for manga, and now, revisiting these classics brings back a flood of wonderful memories.

Take "Hikaru no Go" for example. It's such a captivating story. A sixth grader, Hikaru, unknowingly gets possessed by the spirit of an ancient go master.

Under the influence of this spirit, Hikaru gradually discovers his talent for go and begins to transform into a highly skilled and even wicked go player.

The way the story unfolds, with Hikaru's growth and the various challenges he faces, is truly engaging.

I find myself completely immersed in this world of go and the unique relationship between Hikaru and the spirit.

It's no wonder that I still love this manga so much even after all these years.

Revisiting these classics allows me to relive the excitement and joy that manga brought to my teenage years.

It's like taking a trip down memory lane and rediscovering the magic that made me fall in love with manga in the first place.
