With concise entries, Thimmesh vividly shares the remarkable stories of how women have come up with ingenious inventions. These inventions span a wide range, from those that are eminently helpful in our daily lives, such as Liquid Paper or the windshield wiper, to those that are technically complex, like the “space bumper” which plays a crucial role in protecting NASA spacecraft and astronauts. The book not only provides inspiration but also ends with practical suggestions and valuable resources. These are designed to assist young women in taking their first steps towards inventing on their own. It encourages them to explore their creativity, think outside the box, and make their own contributions to the world of innovation.

I have just read "Girls Think of Everything" and I think it is a very nice and inspiring book, ideal as a present for a little girl and not only for a little one. Since I saw the cover, I wanted to have it for myself - I think it's great - and the very topic interested me.

Catherine Thimmesh had a clever idea of presenting us with women who have invented something, accomplished something and it's not about any little details, but for example the Apgar scale (everyone was subjected to this assessment), or the cosmic bumper that protects astronauts from space debris, or Kevlar, whose story touched me the most and since then it's my favorite fiber.

The author in this short book decided to show us women, girls, who are more or less known. Sometimes it happens that we use some invention, but we don't know who is behind it, what story is associated with its "birth".

As I mentioned, we have here more or less known heroines of the world of inventions. Of course, one can wonder why exactly these were chosen for this publication, but perhaps that wasn't the point of this book, to show as many women as possible, but to show that women are not weaker or less creative than men. Despite a difficult history and discrimination, they managed and although often these are sad stories, because many of them didn't earn anything from their ideas, these stories have the power to inspire a new generation.

"Girls Think of Everything" is a book that fulfills an educational, cognitive, and also inspiring function. It's also worth mentioning the aesthetic value, because the book was very nicely published and the illustrations by Melissy Sweet fit the topic perfectly. I RECOMMEND

* Remember - You too can change the world!

Great as a present for a little girl

In this article, the author elaborates on how this book can play a significant role in instilling confidence in girls. It provides valuable insights and perspectives on how such literature can have a positive impact on the psychological and personal growth of girls. If you are interested in learning more about it, here's the link. You can click on it and check it out for yourself. We hope that this article will attract more attention to the importance of children's reading and the role that suitable books can play in their development.

From chicken coops to labs, from living rooms to various other places, both expected and unexpected, women have come up with some of the most remarkable inventions of all time. These inventions range from Liquid paper (white-out) to Snuglis and much more.

This book serves as a great source of empowerment, teaching that the field of invention is not exclusive to boys, despite being predominantly male-dominated. It is an excellent read for older girls who are already interested in STEM and invention or for those who need a nudge to get interested in the field. I obtained this book during a field trip to Caterpillar for girls interested in STEM. Even for me, it provided an additional incentive to pursue this direction in the future.

Learning about all these inventions was truly fascinating. We often don't stop to think about who invented something, what motivated them, where it was invented, and how it was created. However, this book answered all these questions for me. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone interested in the world of inventions and the contributions of women.

Fascinating look at some of the most influential and often overlooked female inventors.

Throughout history, there have been numerous female inventors who have made significant contributions to various fields. However, their achievements have often been overshadowed or forgotten.

One such inventor is Josephine Cochrane, who invented the dishwasher in 1886. Tired of her servants breaking her fine china while washing dishes by hand, Cochrane designed a machine that could clean dishes more efficiently and gently. Her invention revolutionized the way households cleaned dishes and is still in use today.

Another important female inventor is Hedy Lamarr. In addition to being a famous Hollywood actress, Lamarr was also a brilliant inventor. During World War II, she developed a frequency-hopping system that was used to prevent enemy forces from jamming radio signals. Her invention laid the foundation for modern wireless communication technology and is still used in many devices today, such as cell phones and Wi-Fi.

These are just a few examples of the many influential female inventors who have been overlooked throughout history. By shining a light on their achievements, we can inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and continue to make important contributions to society.

The book is really cute. I want to give it one more star, haha :))).

Actually, this book is more like a brief description and just a little bit of inspiration transmission. It's not for in-depth professional information reading.

It's a light and easy-to-read book that can bring some joy and inspiration.

Maybe it's not the kind of book that you can rely on to gain a lot of profound knowledge, but it has its own charm.

It's suitable for those moments when you want to relax and just enjoy a simple and cute story.

Overall, although it has its limitations, it still has its own value and can make you feel good.

Everyone would have heard of the popular saying that “Necessity is the mother of all inventions”. After reading this book, I truly appreciated the meaning of the saying. The author has delved deep into history and uncovered some of the crucial inventions made by women inventors that changed the course of history as we know it.

The book vividly depicts the struggles and hardships that women had to endure in their pursuit of a passion for science. It shows how they overcame numerous obstacles and biases to make their mark in the male-dominated field of invention.

We learn about the ingenious ideas and remarkable contributions of these women, whose inventions have had a profound impact on our daily lives. From household appliances to medical breakthroughs, their work has improved the quality of life for countless people.

This book serves as a reminder that innovation knows no gender and that women have played an essential role in shaping the world we live in today. It is an inspiring read that encourages us to look beyond the traditional boundaries and recognize the potential of all individuals, regardless of their gender.

This book presents concise summaries of 10 inventions created by American women and 2 modern-day inventions by girls.

The emphasis is placed on the inventions themselves rather than the women who invented them and the difficulties they had to surmount. Some of the inventions, such as windshield wipers and Liquid Paper, were truly enjoyable to read about.

However, other summaries, like those of the computer compiler and Scotchgard, were not interesting in the slightest. The main focus is on inventions in the fields of science and engineering, which is of great significance for young people to read about and learn from the examples of women achieving success in these areas.

One aspect that really bothered me about each of the summaries was that basic information, such as the year and location of the inventor, was never mentioned. The illustrations in the book are a combination of collage and hand drawings and are very nice and engaging, especially the front cover.

This book would be suitable for browsing and getting inspiration for those who want to conduct more in-depth research for a larger project. However, on its own, it was too brief and, disappointingly, did not offer a great deal of in-depth understanding.

This text is quite light to read.

I would add more illustrations to it and make it more explanatory.

In this way, for the last two stories, I felt very much like "the pages are running out too quickly."

Perhaps with more detailed illustrations, the readers could have a better understanding of the content and immerse themselves more deeply in the stories.

Also, by making the explanations more in-depth, the author could clarify any potential ambiguities and ensure that the readers fully grasp the intended messages.

Overall, these improvements would enhance the reading experience and make the book more engaging and valuable for the readers.
