Suddenly, the Jabberwock appears, with eyes of flame, making strange noises as it comes whiffling through the tulgey wood. The son's moment of truth has arrived.


One, two! One, two! And through and through

The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!

He left it dead, and with its head

He went galumphing back.


The son attacks the Jabberwock with his vorpal sword, and after a fierce battle, he manages to slay it. He then takes the Jabberwock's head and goes galumphing back, filled with joy and pride.


“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?

Come to my arms, my beamish boy!

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”

He chortled in his joy.


The father is overjoyed to see that his son has defeated the Jabberwock. He welcomes his son into his arms and expresses his happiness with exclamations like “O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!” The son chortles in his joy, having achieved a great victory.

The story of the Jabberwocky is presented in an extremely poetic version. It is a story that I found not only very easy to follow but also great fun to read.

As I delved into it, I could clearly see how it seamlessly fits with the story lines of Alice in Wonderland in the numerous films based on it. The Jabberwocky seems to add an extra layer of mystery and excitement to the overall Alice in Wonderland universe.

Definitely, this is a story that I would not hesitate to read more than once. Its unique charm and the way it weaves into the larger narrative of Alice in Wonderland make it a truly captivating piece of literature.

I am eager to explore it further and discover new details and interpretations each time I pick it up.

The array of made-up words in this story truly intrigued me for a while.

I couldn't help but think about all the terms that are still commonly used today, which initially began as nonsensical creations that Shakespeare inserted into his plays.

This association made me develop an even greater liking for the poem.

Anyway, as is my custom, I have organized my thoughts and insights about the poem itself into a haiku.

It emphasizes the importance of the journey and how it shapes our experiences and understanding of life.

Overall, this exercise of creating a haiku based on the poem has allowed me to distill its meaning into a concise and powerful form.

I truly had a great affection for the poem. At first glance, I might have thought it was just a bunch of nonsense, but upon closer inspection, I found it to be really nice and charming.

However, my complaint is specifically targeted at this audiobook that I was listening to. The issue lies with the background effects. Although they seemed to fit well with the overall theme and mood of the poem, they were rather distracting. Given the fact that the poem is actually quite short, I firmly believe that it didn't require those background effects at all.

It felt as if the background effects were overshadowing the beauty and simplicity of the poem itself. They took away my focus and made it a bit difficult for me to fully appreciate the essence of the words.

I think that if the audiobook had just presented the poem in a more straightforward manner, without all the additional distractions, it would have been a much more enjoyable listening experience.

Nonetheless, I still have a soft spot for the poem and will continue to explore and enjoy other works of literature.
