My sister gave me this book as a birthday gift. It only took me a total of 15 minutes, with pauses for digestion and thought, to finish reading it. To be honest, considering what it is, it's way too expensive and extremely tiny. Personally, I'm not overly fond of poetry, but I have to admit that these poems are rather lovely. However, for the price I paid, I would have preferred to get a real, comprehensive poetry book. I'm not a fan of those overhyped, overpriced "quote books" or "poetry books" that are only 20 pages long, with a 3 cm thick hardcover, a nice cover, and a $15 price tag. That just seems like a rip-off to me. In any case, it should be noted that all the negative comments I've made have absolutely nothing to do with Angelou's confidence, feminine elegance, or profound words. She is still an amazing and talented writer, and this is just my honest opinion about the book itself.
