There was an abundance of potential within this work. However, the plot was executed in a rather lackluster manner.

The timelines seemed to be all over the place, jumping around haphazardly and making it difficult for the reader to follow.

Similarly, the locations were not presented in a coherent or engaging way.

Overall, the story was just generally boring, failing to capture the reader's attention or imagination.

It seems that this concept might have fared much better if it were adapted into a movie.

With the visual medium, the disjointed timelines and locations could potentially be presented in a more dynamic and understandable way, and the story could be brought to life in a more engaging manner.

Perhaps with the right director and cast, this could be transformed into a truly captivating cinematic experience.

This book is not one of my favorite Patterson books.

I have read several of Patterson's works before, and some of them really impressed me with their engaging plots and well-developed characters. However, this particular one just didn't quite hit the mark for me.

The story seemed a bit flat and lacked the excitement and twists that I have come to expect from Patterson. The characters also didn't seem as vivid or interesting as in his other books.

Perhaps it was just a matter of personal taste, but I found myself not as invested in this book as I have been in others. I still appreciate Patterson's writing skills and his ability to tell a story, but this one will not be among my top favorites.

Overall, while it may not be a bad book, it just didn't live up to my expectations based on my previous experiences with Patterson's work.

Terror and a major financial tragedy may descend as attacks occur in New York. The enemies manage to remain hidden easily and are always one step ahead of those who are tracking them. One of the leaders of the counterterrorism group is a man who lives as if he has nothing left to lose.

Can he uncover the truth or will he sacrifice his life and everything he loves in the process?

I had a plethora of complex thoughts regarding this group. Primarily, I believe the premise of this story is rather heavy-handed. The plot of terrorists violently striking New York sounds distressingly close to an event that actually took place a couple of decades later (9/11). The individuals making this pact are also strange. Most of the time, I couldn't believe in their motive. Too much of it seemed anti-American to me ().

Sure, the ending parts of this book were thrilling in terms of action, but in my opinion, it was too little, too late.

There were certain aspects of the story that I did enjoy.

However, I often found myself in a state of confusion. Many of the problems seemed to be resolved rather conveniently within just a few pages or words.

I had the sense that some parts were lacking. For instance, as you were reading about the characters being in one location, and then in the very next chapter, they would magically be back in the main setting of the book.

Or like at the end, where in just a single line (not even after a break in the chapter), the book appeared to leap forward by a few years. This was extremely confusing and disrupted the flow of the story for me.

Overall, while there were some redeeming qualities, the numerous instances of confusion and lack of连贯性 made it a less than satisfying read.
