"Love never dies" is a profound and touching statement that holds great significance.

Love is a powerful force that has the ability to endure through the toughest of times and overcome all obstacles. It is not bound by time, distance, or circumstance.

When we truly love someone, that love remains in our hearts forever, even if the relationship changes or comes to an end.

Love can bring us joy, comfort, and strength, and it has the power to transform our lives.

It can give us the courage to face our fears, the patience to forgive, and the kindness to show compassion.

No matter what challenges we may encounter in life, the love that we have for others and the love that others have for us will always be there, shining like a bright light in the darkness.

So, let us cherish the love that we have in our lives and never forget that "love never dies."

Yes. I am a die-hard fan of James Patterson. It's not simply because of his renowned crime series or the literary forms he employs. The truth is, no matter how much I strive to be otherwise,

I am still a highly emotional reader. I invest my tears wholeheartedly in a book, especially when it presents a story that is truly worth crying for.

Call it corny, cheesy, or even plain stupid. I couldn't care less. I have cried in various places - in coffee shops, in libraries, in quiet rooms, and most significantly, in my bedroom where the emotions linger the longest.

In this particular work, we witness how special love has the power to transcend from one generation to another.

Let's see if another bucket of tears will be evoked by this novel...

(After 8 hours of reading)

I CRIED. Please allow me to shed a tear as I reflect on the profound life lesson that Sam imparted to Jennifer. :)

After months of seeing this review, I feel that I cannot do full justice to the creation. However, I can make you sense the wonder by looking at this picture: aurora

I read this book as I constantly heard that it is similar to the novels of one of my favorite authors, Nicholas Sparks.

However, after reading it, although I can somewhat understand where that comparison originated, I simply cannot bring myself to place this book in the same category as The Notebook and The Choice.

What I admire about Sparks' work is its poetic and romantic nature, without being pretentious or overly verbose.

This was my first encounter with Patterson's work. While the story is indeed quite romantic (Oh, don't let me deceive you! I shed tears!), I felt that the words themselves didn't always sit well with me.

I hate to seem overly critical or snobbish, but I must be honest. It's something I can't quite pinpoint, but there were moments when I would be reading and think, "Hhmm....I feel like my little brother wrote that sentence."

Again, it wasn't the plot itself that troubled me, but rather the lack of poetic beauty in the way it was sometimes presented.

Then again, some people might find this more relatable. Hopefully, at least one other person can understand what I'm attempting to convey. Hahah!

This is not a book that completely blew me away, but I also have no complaints.

It can be read in one breath as the plot unfolds quickly. It's a light summer book.

"What are we if not the story we are living?"

"When you don't know what you will do, and you hug someone."

"If you will laugh at something that happened to you one day, then it's better to laugh at it right away, at that very moment."

This book offers a simple and engaging read. The fast-paced nature of the story keeps the reader hooked from start to finish. While it may not be a masterpiece that leaves a profound impact, it serves its purpose as a light and enjoyable read, perfect for a summer day. The quotes sprinkled throughout add an extra layer of depth and thought-provoking moments. Overall, it's a book that I would recommend to those looking for a quick and easy read that still manages to offer some interesting insights.

This book was the sole reason I initiated the habit of reading books on a daily basis.

Previously, I used to despise reading until this particular book was presented to me. I devoured it within a single day and wept throughout the entire narrative.

I had the privilege of living with and caring for my Mommom for 4 1/2 years during her illness. Mommom was undoubtedly my best friend in the whole wide world.

This book managed to touch every nook and cranny of my heart and soul. The relationship shared by Sam and Jennifer closely resembled that of my Mommom and me.

I could vividly sense the loss, pain, and heartache that Jennifer endured, as if it were happening to me firsthand. Sadly, a couple of years later, a similar experience befell me.

The power of this book lies in its ability to evoke such intense emotions and create a profound connection with the reader. It has truly transformed my perspective on reading and left an indelible mark on my life.

The story is very cute and heartwarming. It truly touches the heart. I also have a deep love for Sam and Jennifer's relationship. Their connection is so beautiful and endearing.

However, I find myself in a bit of a predicament. I need to stop reading books on my Kindle because I'm reading them at an alarmingly fast pace. It's almost as if I can't put them down. I really need some help to slow down and savor each book properly. Maybe I should set a specific reading time each day or limit the number of pages I read at a time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't want to rush through these wonderful stories and miss out on all the details and emotions that the authors have so carefully crafted. I want to be able to fully immerse myself in each book and enjoy the journey.

Patterson is almost certain to deliver 4 - 5 stars. There are thrills, chills, laughs, and yes, even tears. However, this particular work was not to my taste.

It reminds me of the film and Sparks' book Walk to Remember, which made many people reach for the tissues.

My own experiences with fatal diseases, the fight for survival, learning to walk and live again, facing death, dealing with secrets, and experiencing love - may, just may - have influenced my views at that time. Or perhaps not.

"Love never dies".

If the loved one is dying, have affairs, make them happen quickly, and the fatal illness will be cured. Also, all too often, a baby equals a happy ever after.

Her grandmother Sam, for Samantha, is in a coma. She left letters for Jen about a secret affair with Doc (a nickname). I don't like secrets, affairs, and even more, I dislike fiction that glorifies such betrayal and dishonesty.

When Sam falls into a coma, Jen, who is telling us the story, reads the letters. Meanwhile, she gets involved with a childhood friend from summer, Brendan Kellar, who has moved nearby. He's handsome, kind, and funny. Guess what's next? It's sickly sweet. I skipped through the pages faster and faster to get to the main points.

[12 years later I hid the next 2 paragraphs. But please do read them to help fix. Otherwise, they are for the bin.]

Comparisons came to mind after I reread Lord of the Rings. [How so? Asks me.] There, Sam was a very faithful friend. Brendan's father (uncle) is Arthur p66 [In this edition only? Again, me.] Andrew p277; Jen's cousin Eric p74 is Bobby p311. [They repeat dialog?]

Maybe I'll pay more attention to the fine print [On back or front or flaps of book?]. Also, learn that a [quoted?] review on a book flap is just that, flap. [Here be no spoiler, but still a tad confused, so hides for now.]

Spoilers:

The lovers have a weekend on Lake Superior and see an Aurora Borealis. Their visit to the Observatory sends her back to her sweetheart. After Doc's last child leaves home, they marry secretly because their small town would gossip. (I have a personal negative bias against secret marriages due to a bad experience.)

Sam wakes from the coma. Brendan survives brain tumor surgery that he declined until Jen came along. When he recovers, the younger couple meet Doc - the local Reverend. Surprise!

Three weeks later, Sam dies. At Sam's funeral, Jen, who is telling the story, announces that a baby Sam is on the way. The epilogue is a video of a 14-day-old girl in their new home. Oddly, there is no mention of marriage.

I found this book while doing something you're not supposed to do with books - I was judging it by the cover.

I was craving a shameless, tear-jerking romance novel. The story line seemed right up my alley, the writer was well-known and celebrated for being talented, and the cover art was pleasant. As a big fan of Nicholas Sparks, I'm a seasoned veteran in wading through cliché girly mush that would make normal people vomit (and yet I love every minute of it). Sparks' novels have reduced me to sobbing quietly in my room over the last pages by the glow of the lamp on my nightstand, and always led to a little bit of emotional devastation at the hands of a paperback for a few weeks afterwards. But this book actually hurt me, and not in the good heartache way you want a novel like this to. It hurt me because of the many brain cells I lost to this mind-numbing horrible novel.

I bought this book used on Amazon for a penny, and I want my penny back.

ATTENTION SPOILERS WILL TAKE PLACE FROM HERE FORWARD:

First of all, the story about a girl rushing to the side of her sick grandmother who raised her is a little cheap in my mind, but whatever, I can roll with it. What made me laugh throughout the story was that after Jennifer meets her little boyfriend, notice how many times she goes and sees her grandmother? Like, a handful. Maybe. That's fine. Granny, the ill woman who raised you, is just rotting on her death bed in a hospital. By all means, go have some fun with your boyfriend. She'll wait. DUMB.

Two: The idea of a childhood friend who she rekindles a love with is again a cheap story line that is way overdone, but okay, I can deal with it. But the idea that through this love they share, he would just get up and leave in the middle of the night to never be found again, only to learn that he has a rare brain cancer that is taking his life and that he doesn't want the even rarer brain surgery that could save him, and he vanishes out of thin air because he loves her too much to hurt her, made me want to hurl this book out my bedroom window like that scene from Silver Linings Playbook because it's so dumb. This is the same twisted logic men have been using on women to abandon them and still look like the good guy. "I left you high and dry because I was afraid of what I was feeling." No, you're a self-centered jerk. Please ladies, don't buy this crap. If a man really wants to be with you, he'll be with you, hell or high water. Noah wrote Ali 365 letters. This dude can't even stick a post-it on the door saying bye? The fact that Jennifer went rushing to his side, let alone even gave this douche the time of day after that makes her a doormat of a girlfriend, and if there is one thing I cannot stand it's weak, spineless women in a story. Ugh.

And the Cancer card is overplayed. Did James Patterson have even one half original thought while writing this book? Cause I wasn't able to locate a single one.

Three: Possibly my biggest problem with the entire book, DID ANYONE ELSE READ THE PART ABOUT HIM GIVING HER CAT CPR?! Did anyone else laugh actually audibly out loud like I did?

"Oh, your cat electrocuted itself by chewing on some wires and has been lying here dead for only God knows how long, but let me wrap my mouth around his nose and blow and press on his side and BAM magic, cat is alive."

SMDH.

Just bad writing, as bad and awful as I've ever seen. The publishing company should be ashamed that they allowed that in print.

Blah Blah Blah, she talks him into getting the surgery (surprise). He lives (Damn it). They go on to happy ever after. Granny dies (probably cause you left her high and dry in the hospital you selfish person you) and whaddya know at the end of it all she announces she's pregnant and they're naming it after the Grandma (who had an affair on her husband, btw, best role model ever) and everyone cheers and happy days ensue.

But you know, out of all the awful that this book is, I am thankful for it for one thing. I now have something to stoke my fireplace with on snowy winter days.

I sincerely hope Mr. Patterson's thriller/mystery stories are better than his love stories, because if they're not I'm quitting my job today, running off to New York and becoming a writer, because any half-baked idea I write in my sleep will be better than this.

I still want my penny back.

This book truly came as a surprise to me.

I found myself completely engrossed in its pages from the very beginning.

The story was so captivating that I couldn't put it down.

It had a unique charm and a depth that I wasn't expecting.

The characters were well-developed and relatable, which made it easy for me to connect with them on an emotional level.

The plot was full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, something unexpected would occur.

I really enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend it to others.

It's one of those rare books that leave a lasting impression and stay with you long after you've finished reading.

I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next.

This book came as a bit of a surprise after reading numerous books by Christian authors who maintained a very clean style. There were a few swear words scattered throughout, and some of the subject matter was dealt with in such a lighthearted manner that it was rather disturbing.

It was a remarkably quick read. The story revolves around a 30-something newspaper columnist who leads a rather lonely life. Her husband drowned during a vacation in Hawaii, and she blames herself as she made some alterations to their initial plans. She has an extremely close relationship with her grandmother, Sam. Early in the story, she receives a phone call informing her that Sam is in the hospital in a coma. She rushes to the lakeside town and discovers a stack of letters addressed to her from her grandma. She had been asking for years to hear her grandma's story, and these letters finally reveal Sam's tale. Throughout Jennifer's stay, she reads these letters. To her shock, in the very first one, she learns that her grandma never loved her grandpa.

As Jennifer delves deeper into the letters, she uncovers more secrets and mysteries about her family's past. The story takes unexpected twists and turns, keeping the reader engaged from start to finish. Despite the flaws in the book's treatment of certain aspects, it still manages to tell a compelling and emotional story about love, loss, and family.
