I used to be an avid reader of James Patterson's books. However, after I became a Christian, I distanced myself from them. But this particular book was once a favorite, and re-reading it as a Christian was truly an eye-opening experience.

The story is simply brilliant and has a captivating plot that makes it extremely hard to put down. It involves genetic experiments on babies that result in flying children. But when things start to go awry, those with inside knowledge mysteriously vanish one by one.

Patterson holds the award for having the most chapters in a novel, with a whopping one hundred and twenty-seven! I appreciate the short chapters as they make it easy to follow the narrative from one character or scene to another. This showcases the author's writing prowess as he manages to keep numerous perspectives flowing seamlessly without confusing the reader.

Sadly, he chooses to include a significant amount of blasphemy and other very strong language. This really tarnished the book for me and deterred me from re-reading others. Additionally, there were a couple of sex scenes that were a bit too graphic. As far as I know, Patterson doesn't claim to be a Christian, so I can't impose my own standards on his writing. It's just unfortunate that he includes some of these elements because he is such a talented writer that he really doesn't need to rely on them.

Ultimately, it's up to you whether you want to read this book. My rating is solely based on the story itself. I can't give it 5 stars due to the language used.

Maybe the worst book I ever read: formulaic, mass-marketed garbage. It was so unoriginal and lacked any real depth or creativity. I only finished reading it as a form of penance, and to feel confident in my right to give a review. (I hate when people have opinions of things they have not read or seen.)

This is trash-ertainment. It's like the "Jersey Shore" of literature. The book is to writing what the brass-framed, pastel-matted, cheap reproduction of a cat portrait hanging on a first-floor room at a Motel6 in Lancaster is to art. It's just a cheap imitation that fails to capture the essence of what it's supposed to be.

I am not a snob. I enjoy my guilty pleasures too. I just don't pretend they are good, and they do not deserve good reviews. (For example, my review of the movie "Shoot Em Up" (2007): Terrible acting, predictable, cliche', incoherent, and patronizing. Also, tons of action, great soundtrack, and multiple Monica Bellucci sex-scenes. I loved it. 1-of-5 stars.) But even by guilty-pleasure standards, "When the Wind Blows" was terrible.

Imagine a guy on a football scholarship who has to take a writing class. So he signs up for "Introduction to Creative Writing". He is given a vague topic--say, sci-fi with genetic-engineering and throw in some rogue government agents--and has to write a 100 page story for his final. The end product would be "When the Wind Blows", only better, if for no other reason than its being mercifully shorter. The book just felt like a rushed and half-hearted attempt at writing, and it failed to engage me in any meaningful way.

Strange but enjoyable and entertaining!

This book is truly a departure from the likes of Alex Cross, Michael Bennett, or the Women's Murder Club that you are accustomed to reading.

It leans more towards the realm of fantasy rather than being a typical mystery or thriller.

Nevertheless, I found myself completely captivated by it.

The unique storyline and the vividly imagined world within the pages made it a truly engaging read.

I couldn't put it down and was constantly eager to see what would happen next.

Now, I am eagerly looking forward to the second book in the series - THE LAKE HOUSE!

I have a feeling that it will continue to take me on an exciting and unexpected journey.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something different and exciting to read.

It might just surprise you and become one of your new favorites.

Romanzo d'intrattenimento ma invecchiato malissimo. The story is good, but it progresses through stereotypes and plot twists that are far too predictable. It's a reading recommended for those who are looking for something not too deep but very engaging.

This entertainment novel has really aged poorly. Despite having a decent storyline, it follows the same old patterns and the surprises are all too easy to anticipate. It might be a suitable choice for someone who just wants a light read that can keep them hooked, without requiring too much mental effort or deep thinking.

However, for those who are more discerning readers and expect something more original and thought-provoking, this novel may not meet their expectations. It lacks the freshness and innovation that would make it stand out in today's literary landscape. Nevertheless, it can still provide some entertainment value for a short period of time.

Listened to the unabridged audio book with my husband and we both loved it. The story was a captivating blend of mystery and thriller elements, enhanced by a touch of science fiction. It kept us on the edge of our seats from start to finish. The characters were well-developed and the plot was full of twists and turns that we never saw coming.

We found ourselves completely immersed in the audio book, as the narrator did an excellent job of bringing the story to life. The sound effects and music added an extra layer of atmosphere, making it a truly engaging listening experience.

Highly recommended to those whom enjoy a little Sci-Fi mixed into their mystery/thriller. This audio book is sure to satisfy fans of both genres and keep them entertained for hours on end. Whether you're looking for a thrilling escape or a thought-provoking listen, this audio book has something for everyone.

This is the second book I've read by James Patterson, and I'm completely in love with his works.

I initially thought it was going to be a typical FBI investigation book, but it turned out to be far from it.

Just reading about the amazing children in this book made me long for their existence to be real.

When they described the wings, I was in awe. They sounded so incredibly cool that it made me wish I had them too.

I was satisfied with the ending, but I couldn't help but wonder if the kids moved in with their parents on the base.

Also, I was curious whether Frannie and Kit/Tom ended up living on the base or if they went on to live their own lives and only came back for visits.

The story left me with a sense of wonder and a desire to know more about what happened to the characters after the book ended.

James Patterson has truly crafted a captivating tale that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.

I can't wait to pick up another one of his books and see where the next adventure takes me.

This was a rather enjoyable read, yet it wasn't exactly what I had anticipated.

I suppose I would classify it as more of a science fiction piece rather than a thriller or mystery.

The characters were likeable, and that's what really pulled me into the story.

Although some aspects were rather disturbing, I still found myself reluctant to put the book down.

At times, the narrative seemed to shift abruptly from the first person to the third person, which made it a bit challenging to immediately figure out who was telling the story.

Overall, considering the fun factor, I would rate it at 3.5 stars.

It had its flaws, but it also had enough engaging elements to keep me entertained throughout the reading experience.

I'm curious to see if the author will explore more of these themes and develop the characters even further in future works.

Despite not being a perfect read, it still managed to leave a lasting impression on me.

The beginning of the story was rather interesting.

However, as the story progressed with the changing of various topics and the author jumping from one short chapter to another, it almost made me dizzy.

Until a point where I really couldn't see any connection to the chapters that were changing in just a few lines! Most likely, this book might have suffered a lot of flaws, which is what caused me to get dizzy and bored with the book. And I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't waste my time on this book. The main purpose for me to read this novel by this author was to get familiar with his writing style because I had never read any book by this Peterson before and perhaps the translation of the book was also a plus.

And I was even surprised at how this book had achieved such remarkable sales that it was named as an internationally best-selling book.

Although I am interested in fictional books, this book might have become so confusing and incomprehensible for me because of the reasons I mentioned in the above lines.

I would like to know the opinions of those friends who have read this book. Please, if you have read and studied the book, express your opinions in the comments. Thank you.

The scientists are the bad guys, the really bad guys.

Don't worry, that doesn't give away much of this exciting plot which features both a female and male protagonist. There are some good plot twists and several charming young characters, along with the two adult protagonists. Fortunately, they are on the same side of an epic battle that is heating up in the verdant Colorado mountains.

G-men, doctors, newspeople, the pharmaceutical industry, the military, greedy capitalists - all are enlisted by Patterson in this fast-paced cross-genre adventure-mystery-sci-fi story that is not too far from the future.

And if an action-packed plot isn't enough, there's a steamy romance brewing as well. It's an engaging read during this COVID-19 self-isolation period. People interested in the biotech industry and conspiracy theorists will enjoy this read too.

I am searching for the sequel as soon as I finish this review. It's a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, with its unique blend of different genres and interesting characters. You won't be able to put it down once you start reading.

This wasn't definitely different for a James Patterson book.

James Patterson is a highly renowned and prolific author, known for his distinct writing style and the ability to create engaging stories. His books often follow a certain formula that has proven successful over the years.

However, it's important to note that while there may be some commonalities in his works, each book also has its own unique elements. Patterson has the talent to bring different characters to life and develop plots that keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Even though this particular book might not seem drastically different at first glance, upon closer inspection, there are likely to be subtleties and twists that set it apart from his other works.

Overall, whether it's a new release or an older title, a James Patterson book is always worth exploring for those who enjoy thrilling and entertaining reads.

I would have relished this book to a greater extent if I hadn't delved into the Maximum Ride series beforehand.

This particular book, along with its sequel, The Lake House, was penned for adults prior to the MR series.

Some of the concepts are identical, and certain characters bear resemblances, yet they aren't truly the same individuals as those in the MR series.

Primarily narrated by one of the adult main characters, a veterinarian, it delves into more intricate details regarding the physiology of bird kids compared to the MR series.

Nonetheless, there was an abundance of action and an intriguing exploration of the issues associated with the genetic engineering of humans - both the bird kids and others.

I believe that the MR books do a superior job of examining what it truly means to be "different".

They offer a more in-depth and thought-provoking perspective on this aspect, which is perhaps why I found them to be more engaging overall.

However, this book still has its own merits and is worth reading for those interested in the subject matter.

It provides a unique take on the concept of genetic engineering and the challenges that come with it.

Despite my initial comparison to the MR series, I was able to appreciate this book for what it is and enjoy the story it had to tell.
