The story is simply brilliant and has a captivating plot that makes it extremely hard to put down. It involves genetic experiments on babies that result in flying children. But when things start to go awry, those with inside knowledge mysteriously vanish one by one.
Patterson holds the award for having the most chapters in a novel, with a whopping one hundred and twenty-seven! I appreciate the short chapters as they make it easy to follow the narrative from one character or scene to another. This showcases the author's writing prowess as he manages to keep numerous perspectives flowing seamlessly without confusing the reader.
Sadly, he chooses to include a significant amount of blasphemy and other very strong language. This really tarnished the book for me and deterred me from re-reading others. Additionally, there were a couple of sex scenes that were a bit too graphic. As far as I know, Patterson doesn't claim to be a Christian, so I can't impose my own standards on his writing. It's just unfortunate that he includes some of these elements because he is such a talented writer that he really doesn't need to rely on them.
Ultimately, it's up to you whether you want to read this book. My rating is solely based on the story itself. I can't give it 5 stars due to the language used.
