This book truly makes me want to exclaim "awwwwww"! It is such an outstanding book or story.

It marks the beginning of a remarkable series for me. The introduction of the main character is so engaging that later Patterson initiated an entire series specifically for young adults.

I have distributed numerous copies of this book.

It is an incredibly great story that everyone should read and share with the kids. It has the power to capture the hearts and imaginations of both young and old alike. The vivid descriptions and interesting plot make it a page-turner from start to finish. By sharing this book with the kids, we can inspire their love for reading and introduce them to a world of exciting adventures and valuable life lessons.

Something truly blows, and that's an understatement.

I found myself constantly struggling to make it through this book. Every page seemed like a battle, and by the time I finally managed to finish it, I was left with a profound sense of regret. I wanted those several hours of my life back so badly.

The story was filled with far too many loose ends. It was as if the author didn't bother to tie up any of the plotlines properly, leaving the reader with a feeling of dissatisfaction and confusion.

Moreover, the writing style was extremely lackluster. It read like it was written on autopilot, without any real passion or creativity. The sentences were dull and lifeless, and the characters were one-dimensional and uninteresting.

In conclusion, this book was a major disappointment, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

This is what we call 'fast food fiction.'

Just like a McDonald's burger, it goes down easily. You know precisely what you're going to get. It's pleasant enough while you're consuming it, but it's highly forgettable.

I can clearly understand why James Patterson is a top-selling author. He caters to the mass market.

I discovered that his writing style is breezy and lean. His two or three-page chapters are extremely convenient for those who need to make frequent stops and starts.

No doubt, this is very handy for bored commuters who bring a book along for the ride.

The style is reminiscent of another big-selling author, Michael Crichton. It features fast-action plot twists, along with the usual mix of sexual attraction, mano to mano fisticuffs, gunshots, and a generally happy ending.

The characters, however, were a bit on the cardboard cutout side. But they weren't terrible.

If this were a TV show, it would probably be a mediocre one-season series on the Sci-Fi channel.

The following review was written when I was 12 years old:

When I delved into this book, one of the initial aspects that caught my attention was the rather confusing or erratic flow of the story. This is mainly because it is recounted from four distinct points of view. I believe the author adopted this approach to attempt to narrate various events that were occurring simultaneously. For instance, the telling of the story alternates between Max and the individuals who are trailing her. If I were penning this story, I would strive to minimize the number of narrators as much as possible without detrimentally affecting the story's progression.

I find the part where Max and her (adult) friends discover the location where scientists have been creating animal/human hybrids to be highly unrealistic. This is because it is happening in the middle of a state. With people and equipment likely going in frequently, it seems implausible that no one has noticed. Additionally, one wonders about the source of all their funding. Finally, the experiments themselves do not seem feasible in real life.

While reading "When the Wind Blows", I realized that the character I like the most is Frannie. She is humorous, has a complex life, and has to grapple with as many problems as real people do. I think the author truly endeavored to make Frannie seem realistic and enjoyable. Examples of this can be found throughout the book whenever Frannie is the narrator.

In conclusion, considering it's an average science-fiction thriller, I think "When the Wind Blows" is a reasonably good book, and I had an enjoyable time reading it.

The above is the expanded review.

This book was truly an extraordinary read, being both very interesting and bizzare at the same time.

The concept of doctors conducting experiments on children and infants is not only a source of great scare but also highly thought provoking. One不禁 wonders whether such things actually happen or not.

As ordinary people, we surely hope that it doesn't. However, I have my doubts.

All in all, despite the rather disturbing premise, the book had a happy ending.

Nonetheless, I can't help but think that I would not want to live my life in secret as the characters in the book did.

The love story between the couple was wonderful and added a touch of warmth to the otherwise intense adventure.

It was a great read that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

I have a great affection for Max and her captivating story. However, there is something amiss in this adult spin-off of the series.

The adult characters seem rather off in some way. Both of the main adult characters are supposed to be competent professionals, yet the manner in which they act and talk (as written) just doesn't feel right.

I don't recall having such a feeling when I read the YA series. Perhaps James Patterson is more adept at writing for the YA audience, where all of his characters sound just right.

At least that's how it appears to me.

I'm giving this book only 2 stars solely because I previously adored the characters and the story. Otherwise, in terms of quality writing, this one falls short. It's a bit disappointing to see that the magic that was present in the YA series didn't quite translate well into this adult version. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, they weren't fully met.

When The Wind Blows

I am penning this book report for Ms. Orona’s period 4A class. The book I have perused is ‘When The Wind Blows’ by the renowned James Patterson. Published by Little, Brown and Company, it consists of 432 pages. I was drawn to this book for several reasons. Firstly, my passion for science fiction compelled me to pick it up. Secondly, my fascination with James Patterson and his literary works made it an irresistible choice. This novel has achieved the remarkable feat of being a New York Times #1 Best seller and has sold over 3 million copies.

The story features three main characters. Frannie O’Neill, a young veterinarian, whose husband was entangled with a secret organization conducting illegal experiments on children. Max, an 11-year-old girl who managed to escape from the clutches of an illegal organization after being experimented on. And Kit Harrison, an FBI agent who is undercover, determined to crack the case of the illegal experiments.

‘When The Wind Blows’ is a science fiction novel set in the 1990s in Bear Bluff, Colorado. The narrative is fast-paced, violent, and yet充满悬念 (suspenseful), keeping the reader on the edge of their seat, eagerly anticipating what lies ahead. Max is striving to flee from her evil uncle Thomas while simultaneously attempting to rescue her brother Matthew. Dr. Frannie O’Neill is grappling with the mystery of how her husband David met his demise and how it is intertwined with Max. Meanwhile, Kit Harrison is endeavoring to solve the murder case of Frannie’s husband and uncover the truth about what is transpiring in Bear Bluff, Colorado and the reasons behind it.

My overall impression of “When The Wind Blows” is that it is an extraordinary book. However, I feel that I did not fully grasp the background of some of the main characters. I truly relished this book as it appealed to my senses and encompassed all the elements I adore in a novel, ranging from comedy to romance, thrillers, and mysteries. I only wish the author had provided a more detailed account of Max and her past, such as how they were created and so on. This novel has taught me that family is not always defined by blood and that in certain circumstances, it is beneficial to have a vivid imagination. For if something similar were to occur to you, you might initially think you were going crazy. This is an amazing book, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with a penchant for science fiction.

The concept of the story was indeed quite good. However, Patterson's writing style failed to impress me. At times, it seemed extremely hokey, lacking in authenticity and finesse. The characters, Frannie and Kit, appeared rather flat and one-dimensional. The romance that was weaved into the plot seemed lame and unconvincing. I really could have done without it. I had wanted to like Frannie and Kit, but unfortunately, they didn't contribute anything meaningful to the story. Instead, they became a distraction that was not executed well at all. The writing also seemed choppy, making it difficult to fully engage with the narrative.

I'm now starting to question why Patterson is such a highly regarded and popular author. I'm beginning to think that perhaps his earlier works were of a higher quality. Maybe I should give one of those older books a try. His new releases have been a disappointment to me. Although I do enjoy reading a lighter book on occasion, I found this particular one to be completely unengaging. Someday in the future, I will definitely make an effort to pick up one of his earlier novels and see if it can change my perception of his writing.

I have a great passion for reading, and this particular book has truly captured my heart.

Unlike Patterson's typical murderous books, this one offers a refreshing and enjoyable reading experience.

If you have an interest in mystery and a touch of science, I would highly recommend this book without hesitation.

It is filled with numerous surprises that keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire reading process.

After finishing this book, I am firmly determined to read the next one in the series.

I can't wait to explore more of the mysteries and adventures that await me.

Overall, this book has been a wonderful addition to my reading collection, and I believe it will also bring joy and excitement to other readers.

Spoiler Alert - the little girl found in the woods has wings.

No wait, you're told that in the first chapter.

Spoiler Alert - Kit Harrison is actually an FBI agent.... ah, no sorry, we're told that up front too.

Spoiler Alert - there's a secret lab in the forest experimenting on humans. No, wait that's near the beginning.....

As you can probably guess, I wasn't too impressed with this book to start with. Everything that could have been a massive revelation, a huge plot twist, even a small 'wow' moment for the reader, was kind of spelled out in black and white by, to be perfectly honest, quite one-dimensional characters. Having read a lot of hard sci-fi that deals with the same sort of topics, I was kind of left disappointed. And every so often, one of the ridiculously short chapters was a scene totally unconnected to the story and seemingly only there to pad it out.

BUUUUUUTTTTTT.... the last third of the book grabbed my interest and bumped up my overall rating by a star. Once the pace picked up and the gang were on the run, the story did at least become exciting. The scenes in the lab were suitably horrifying and I actually felt a bit of emotion reading it - not something the rest of the book evoked.

So not a total waste of time reading it - it kept me largely entertained for 48 hours. But although I might read the sequel and the 'Maximum' series (which are supposed to be similar), it hasn't really done much to change my 'ho-hum' opinion of this author.

Overall, the book had its flaws in the beginning with too many early revelations and uninteresting characters. However, the last third managed to salvage some excitement and emotion. It's not a great book, but it's also not a complete disaster. I'll give it a cautious recommendation, especially for those who are interested in the sci-fi genre and don't mind a bit of a slow start.

This is the one that started it all!

It was the very first time we met Max, a truly wonderful mutant with wings. Patterson chose such a great name that he simply couldn't give it up for the YA series. The story is filled with great suspense from the very beginning. We are immediately drawn into Max's world and are eager to know what will happen next.

The adults in the story are also very compelling. They add another layer of depth and complexity to the plot. Their actions and decisions have a significant impact on Max and the other mutants.

Overall, this is a great introduction to a fascinating series. It leaves us wanting more and eager to follow Max on his adventures.
