I can clearly see that Howard Roughan is an amazing writer. I'm quite certain that this is his writing, not Patterson's.

I took the time to check Roughan's other books, and, to my surprise, he's allegedly co-written many books with Patterson. What a shame!

Howard Roughan could most definitely and proudly put just his name on any book, and it would undoubtedly be a bestseller.

Sometimes, in life, we are simply too afraid to take that bold leap and showcase our true talents independently.

We get caught up in the safety of collaboration or the fear of not being able to succeed on our own.

But in the case of Howard Roughan, it's evident that he has the skills and the ability to shine on his own without the need to share the credit with others.

It makes one wonder what other great works he could have produced if he had been more confident in his own abilities and taken more risks.

Maybe this serves as a lesson for all of us to believe in ourselves and not be afraid to step out of our comfort zones and pursue our dreams independently.

Despite his growing suspicions about Nora, he finds himself gradually getting entangled in her web. Patterson and his team truly excel at churning out these fast-paced suspense/thrillers. The action unfolds at a breakneck speed, and the target is constantly on the move. The writing style might be simplistic, but don't let that fool you. The plot is so engaging that it effortlessly holds the reader's attention. And of course, there are one or two twists thrown in for good measure. These twists keep our protagonist, John O’Hara, just slightly off balance, and in turn, keep the reader eagerly turning the pages. It's the perfect beach or vacation read. I was truly glad that the producers had the foresight to choose two such talented voice artists to bring this story to life in the audio version. Campbell Scott does an excellent job of narrating those chapters from John O’Hara’s point of view, giving the character depth and authenticity. Meanwhile, Hope Davis is simply chilling as the cunning and twisted Nora Sinclair. Her performance really brings the character to life and adds an extra layer of menace to the story.
