In fact, it was more than just good. It was an experience that left a lasting impression. The moment I encountered it, I knew there was something special about it.

And then, there was the twist. Oh my goodness, it was completely insane! I never saw it coming. It completely changed the direction of the story and added a whole new layer of excitement and mystery. It was one of those twists that makes you go back and re-read certain parts, realizing that there were all these little hints and clues that you missed the first time around.

Overall, this was an amazing read. The author did a fantastic job of creating a story that was both engaging and full of surprises. I can't wait to see what else they have in store for us.

I absolutely adored this book!

The very first day I embarked on reading it, I got so engrossed that I read for a solid 2 hours straight. It had an immediate hold on me.

One of the things I truly loved about it was the fact that it had lovely short chapters. This feature actually made me read at a much faster pace.

Moreover, I was really impressed with the way it was written. There wasn't an overabundance of description for everything. Instead, it had just the right amount to allow me to vividly picture what was happening.

The writing style was such that it kept me eagerly turning the pages from one chapter to the next, desperate to find out what was coming up next.

I simply couldn't put the book down. In fact, I managed to finish this book in 7 sittings, with each sitting lasting around an hour to an hour and a half. And mind you, I'm normally a slow reader.

This was by far the fastest I've ever read a book, and it was an absolute delight!

Meh….

It seems that this particular thing didn't quite hit the mark. Maybe it was lacking in some key aspect, or perhaps it just didn't resonate with me in the way I had hoped.

So, what now? Well, it's time to try something else. There are countless other options out there waiting to be explored.

Maybe it's a new hobby, a different type of food, or a new place to visit. The possibilities are endless.

By being open to new experiences and willing to step out of our comfort zones, we can discover new passions and expand our horizons.

So, let's not be deterred by this initial disappointment. Instead, let's embrace the opportunity to try something else and see where it takes us.

Who knows, maybe the next thing we try will be exactly what we've been looking for.

If I've not seen the name of the author, after the first dozens of pages I've put all my money on Jeffrey Archer. However, as I've delved deeper and read more, the gap between Mr. Patterson and the Englishman has become glaringly obvious. There is less brightness, less flair, and a distinct lack of drama at the end of the chapters.

Nonetheless, the novel appears to be a decent one up until the final part, which is set in the seventeenth century. There is no DNA in the identification of "Will", no gynecologist for Jennie, and no evidence of the second shot. The trial lasts almost seven weeks for what seems like very little.

So, three stars are surely more than enough to rate this novel. It has its flaws and不足之处 that prevent it from reaching a higher level of excellence.

Unfortunately, she doesn't benefit from the presumption of innocence because her past hides another crime committed against her former husband in self-defense.

The two narrators, Maggie Bradford and Will Sherman, both had emotionally challenging childhoods that have left them with deep scars, which in turn shape their lives in different ways.

Maggie has found success in the music industry, while Will has become an elite athlete. However, both of them have a murder in their past. Was it intentional or self-defense? The reader will find out as the story unfolds.

Maggie seeks love through connections, while Will discards people, especially women, at will. Their lives are told separately until they intersect with each other. By that time, the reader may be screaming in their head, "No Maggie, don't be seduced by this horrible, sadistic, egotistical man!" But if she didn't, there wouldn't have been the action that drives the story from the beginning.

The novel has a nice twist towards the end, which keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. However, there is one big question mark for the reader, and they may have to re-read a section to see if they can resolve it or if there was really a goof in the story. Overall, it's a thrilling and engaging read that will keep you hooked until the very end.

I was immediately drawn into the story from the very beginning.

James Patterson has this remarkable ability to make you feel as if you are right there with the main character (MC) in this book.

It's as if an invisible force pulls you into her tragic life, making you experience every emotion she goes through.

The ending, on the other hand, was a complete surprise and totally unexpected.

Just when you think you have it all figured out, Patterson throws in a curveball that leaves you stunned.

It's yet another hit from the talented Mr. Patterson, who continues to prove why he is one of the most popular and successful authors in the world.

His ability to create engaging stories with complex characters and unpredictable plots is truly second to none.

This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good mystery or thriller.

I've recently delved into several of Patterson's works.

There were a couple from the Womens' Murder Club series, a few Alex Cross novels, and some stand-alone ones like Hide & Seek.

These books are extremely easy to read. The chapters, on their own, are far too brief for what one would expect in adult novels. I find them to be rather superficial, with many characters lacking depth.

Occasionally, they are so predictable that the ending fails to be truly engaging.

I believe I've given Patterson a reasonable chance, but I've decided to relegate his books to holiday reading only. Something that I can enjoy while lounging on a beach and then perhaps, accidentally on purpose, leave behind. They simply aren't for me.

It seems that while Patterson's books offer quick entertainment, they lack the substance and complexity that I seek in my reading.

Maybe for some, this simplicity is appealing, but for me, I prefer a more challenging and thought-provoking read.

Nevertheless, I can see why Patterson has such a large following, and I'll continue to explore other authors in search of that perfect literary gem.

Sconvolgente e seducente!

STREPITOSO! This is the only word that comes to my mind to start this review. This thriller, with a capital T, had me in its grip from the very first pages and never let go. James Patterson's writing enchanted me, and the short and incisive chapters made me literally hungry for more. Every time I would say to myself, "Just one more chapter," only to continue and continue, in the grip of a growing frenzy.

It is a desire fueled by Will Shepherd. He, the second husband. He, the absolute protagonist of this story. He, the Madness.

Just as Tyrion Lannister was obsessed with finding out why his cousin crushed insects with such ferocity, so I, page after page, wanted to understand this boy. I needed to understand him. Will is a siren, and I, like Maggie, found myself trapped in the web that he masterfully began to weave from his very first appearance. What a cunning manipulator! What a sinister actor! Will Shepherd is all this and much, MUCH more. He is a deeply disturbed mind that yearns desperately to be loved and truly understood. And he is absolutely divine in his madness.

I don't want to tell you anything else or continue to rave like a fangirl for the villain of this story, which must be savored line by line. I can only say that The Second Husband is a crescendo of adrenaline and anxiety that will make your heart fibrillate. A Must Read, absolutely. You will fight with Maggie for your life, succumb to the dark charm of Will... and remain open-mouthed in the incredible and disturbing finale!

It was truly a pleasure to come across a novel that was penned by Patterson himself. This was before he began the practice of publishing works by his underlings, which often seemed to follow a cookie-cutter pattern. In fact, I had almost forgotten that the man had the ability to craft a captivating tale.

Hide and Seek is a thrilling murder/mystery story. It progresses at a brisk pace, filled with numerous twists and turns that constantly keep the reader engaged.

The use of different points of view is a clever device. It not only brings the reader closer to the characters but also allows them to step inside the characters' stories.

I found myself quite fond of the main character. It was easy to cheer for her throughout the book, regardless of whether she was ultimately proven guilty or innocent.

Overall, Hide and Seek is a very good book. It is an easy read that manages to hold the reader's attention from start to finish. It serves as a reminder of Patterson's original talent as a storyteller.
