I feel as if every time I pick up an Alex Cross book, my level of impression diminishes compared to before.

The bank robbing scene in the book is indeed quite exciting and engaging, which provides a certain degree of entertainment.

However, when looking at the book as a whole, there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot to it.

The story may lack depth and complexity in other aspects, perhaps in the character development or the overall plot progression.

It's almost as if the author focused too much on the thrilling bank robbing part and neglected to build a more substantial and well-rounded narrative.

As a result, the book leaves me feeling somewhat disappointed and longing for more substance and substance.

I hope that future installments in the Alex Cross series will offer a more satisfying and engaging reading experience.

You know how in the spring, when your favorite TV series is coming to an end for the year, they often leave you with a cliffhanger. You have to wait till the fall to find out what happens next. Well, Patterson does exactly that in this book.

Just when you think Cross has successfully solved the crime and caught the Mastermind, and perhaps even found a new love, everything suddenly changes. Now, you have no choice but to read the sequel to continue the story.

The book is filled with a lot of action as Cross works tirelessly to solve bank robberies, murders, and hostage-taking situations. It keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Overall, it's a really good read that will leave you eager for more. If you're a fan of mystery and thriller novels, this one is definitely worth checking out.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

The last sentence of this book revealing the mastermind is so batshit crazy that I'm typing this in all caps!

KYLE CRAIG, you sick fuck!

Anyways, the book loses one star for me.

The romance in it is once again rushed, which leads to some sort of a loss.

Alex has been through this kind of shit way too many times, and I'm just over it!

I mean, come on!

The story had so much potential, but the rushed romance really took away from it.

It felt forced and didn't add anything meaningful to the plot.

Maybe if the author had taken more time to develop the relationship between the characters, it would have been a better read.

But as it is, I'm left feeling a bit disappointed.

However, I will say that the rest of the book was quite engaging and kept me on the edge of my seat.

The mystery and suspense were well done, and I was eager to find out who the mastermind was.

Overall, it's still a decent book, but that one flaw really stood out to me.

The ending truly got to me, but I simply couldn't overlook the dated feel. Lol.

I believe that if I were accustomed to reading books from the 2000s, I would rate it higher. However, I'm not used to it at all.

They literally mention Blockbuster, which is quite nostalgic. It makes me think about how much the world has changed since then.

Maybe with more exposure to books from that era, I would develop a better appreciation for the style and content.

For now, though, the dated aspect is a bit of a hurdle for me to fully enjoy this particular book.

But who knows, perhaps in the future, I'll look back on it more fondly.

In this thrilling and romantically touching heart-pounder, Detective Alex Cross finds himself in a pursuit like no other. He is up against the most complex and brilliant killer he has ever encountered - a mysterious criminal who dubs himself the Mastermind.

In a string of crimes that have left Washington, D.C. reeling, bank robbers have been making precise demands upon entering the building. And if those instructions are not followed to the letter, they brutally kill the bank employees and their families.

Alex Cross takes on this case, certain that this is no ordinary bank robber at work. The pathological need for control and perfection is simply too great. Meanwhile, Cross is also dealing with a personal crisis at home. However, as he delves deeper into the case, it becomes all-consuming. He discovers that the Mastermind is planning one enormous, final, and perfect crime.

Tragically, the story has a sad ending. This particular book isn't my favorite among Patterson's works. I got a bit behind and am now making a huge effort to get things in order and catch up. Sadly, my library rarely has the books in the correct sequence, which makes it even more challenging for me to follow the series properly.

Finally, another Alex Cross book that I thoroughly enjoyed!
I had some issues with a few books prior in the series. In fact, I even took a break, despite setting a goal for myself to read all the Alex Cross books in a year. The reason was that things got blown out of proportion. Every book seemed to have the smartest villain and a more dangerous situation yet. Sometimes this approach worked, but other times it didn't.
However, in this book, it's way different. The story unfolds rather fluidly, and the threat feels real to me, contrary to the prior books where the danger felt forced. Also, my most hated character is gone, and I couldn't be happier.

And at the end, I must say. THAT CLIFF IS SO FREAKING RANDOM. I stared at the last sentence in the book for at least a couple of minutes until my mind could process it. I totally didn't expect that. In fact, that sentence alone made this book my second favorite Alex Cross book (after Along Came a Spider, of course).

I can't wait to see what the Muhammad Ali of crime detectives is going to do in the next book. All I know is that it's going to be epic.

The story line of this book was indeed interesting. However, at times, it felt really slow, which made the reading experience a bit less engaging.

I have not read the previous books in this series. As a result, I'm not as deeply invested in the relationships between the characters or the series as a whole. This likely has a significant impact on my enjoyment of this particular book.

Moreover, I managed to guess the identity of the bad guy about halfway through the story. Perhaps this is because I didn't know any of the players, and thus everyone seemed like an equal suspect to me.

This book ends on a cliffhanger, which means that you will need to read at least the next book in order to get a more satisfactory conclusion. I suspect that this is a typical feature of the series, as readers are expected to read along as if it's all one long, continuous story.

I may consider going back and starting from the beginning of the series at some point. However, I'm not in any real hurry to dive in and continue reading right away.
