What the total sh*T!

It's truly outrageous that someone would write a book about a man in black face committing murders and trying to pass it off as black on black crime. I was so extremely upset by this that I really almost stopped reading. In fact, I settled for just throwing my e-reader.

But I digress…

Shafer is actually a diplomat who used to work in the military. However, recently he starts to feel like he no longer has control over his life and there is no more excitement. So, he decides to play this game that puts him back in control. He becomes death. I did sense that he had an air of entitlement about him, even though he was dressing up as someone from the lower class.

Then it gets personal when Christine is kidnapped. I was so heartbroken for Alex. After losing his first wife, he is distraught to find out that Christine has been taken.

This is actually one time that the killer goes free. I wanted Schafer to die immediately. Here's to hoping that he meets his end in the next installment or soon. And slowly!

This piece is not my absolute favorite, but it is still quite decent.

3.5

The narrator of this work truly stands out. Their performance is excellent, adding a certain charm and authenticity to the overall experience.

Although it may not reach the level of being my top choice, it has its own merits. The story or content presented, while perhaps not overly惊艳, manages to hold one's attention and keep them engaged.

The pacing is also relatively good, not too rushed or too slow, allowing the audience to follow along easily.

In conclusion, while it may not be a masterpiece in my eyes, it is a solid piece that has its own appeal, especially due to the outstanding narrator.

3.5

Overall, it is a work that is worth giving a chance and can provide an enjoyable experience.

Not bad at all.

The story moved quickly, which kept me engaged from start to finish. I really enjoyed the concept of the four horsemen for the killers. It added an element of mystery and excitement.

Alex is a great character to read about. The personalism of this installment made for a more edge-of-your-seat read. I found myself really invested in Alex's story and wanted to know what would happen next.

However, I did find the plot a bit predictable. I was able to guess some of the twists and turns before they happened, which took away a bit of the excitement for me. That's why I gave it three stars.

Overall, it was still an interesting read. It's a quick and simple book that you can easily read in one afternoon. If you're looking for a light and entertaining read, this might be a good choice for you.

This is by far the best Alex Cross book that I've read in the series.

It has all the elements required to keep the reader completely engaged from start to finish. It's truly a page-turner!

The characters continue to evolve and develop as the story unfolds. We watch helplessly as Alex and Sampson encounter their worst nightmare yet. The pages seem to fly by as the reader eagerly searches for the much-hoped-for happy ending to this reign of terror, which is like nothing else ever seen before.

This book is flawless. It showcases Alex Cross at his finest in a situation that would defeat even the strongest of individuals. The reader is held captive throughout the entire story.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone who has a passion for a great thriller. It's a must-read for any fan of the genre.

The early Alex Cross books were truly outstanding. However, at present, I am finding it rather difficult to stay engaged with them. The positive aspect is that they are extremely quick reads - once you manage to get started.

This particular installment follows somewhat similar lines to a previous book in the series. There are a number of killers who maintain contact via the internet. They are involved in a so-called "fantasy" game known as the four horsemen, but in reality, it is no game at all as they are killing for real. One of the horsemen, "death," is getting out of control and earns himself the name "the weasel" from the police. Right from the beginning, you are aware of who the weasel is - Geoffrey Shafer, a member of the British secret service. He enjoys diplomatic immunity, has a rather scary mistress, and is dependent on prescription drugs. Additionally, he has a penchant for killing - a great deal.

He predominantly targets the poor areas of Washington and is responsible for a series of killings referred to as the Jane Doe murders. However, he doesn't limit himself to just those areas; he is an equal opportunity killer. Whenever the mood strikes him and the game dice permit it, he will kill.

Alex Cross is investigating various matters and also gets engaged during the course of the story. But shortly after this, his fiancé Christine goes missing in Bermuda. He knows that the weasel is behind it as he had previously warned him off. So, he teams up with another detective who had been ordered to look into the Jane Doe killings and keep Cross out of them. Unfortunately, the weasel kills her as well, which drives Cross to engage in illegal searches. Although the weasel goes to trial, waiving his right to immunity, he is acquitted and believes even more firmly that he is untouchable.

The conclusion of the book sees the weasel manage to escape, but Cross does manage to find Christine - after a year - on Jamaica, accompanied by a baby.

I have one major issue with this book. When Alex assesses Patsy's body in the car, he notices that the radio has been partly dislodged, but he doesn't give it any further thought at the time. He never revisits that point. Didn't he consider the possibility that maybe the weasel had tampered with her car and placed a bug in it? And that the radio was dislodged when he removed it? He could have left prints in the car when he took it out since the murder occurred within such a short time frame. This really annoyed me and is the reason why it receives such a low rating.

A Real Thriller

The Alex Cross plots have always been known for their outrageous nature, but what sets them apart is the author's remarkable skill in making them seem believable. In this particular novel, the story takes on an added layer of tension as it becomes extremely personal to Alex. The author handles this aspect with great finesse, delving deep into Alex's emotions and experiences.

The narrative is filled with twists and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat from start to finish. Every page is a new adventure, with the author constantly raising the stakes and introducing new challenges for Alex to overcome.

Overall, this is a truly compelling read that will satisfy even the most discerning thriller fans. The combination of a thrilling plot, well-developed characters, and the author's masterful writing make this novel a must-read for anyone who loves a good mystery.

Ipak, sve vreme sam razmisljala koliko me nerviraju tako proste recenice.

I haven't read a bad James Patterson book yet.

It was truly a delight to witness an intimate side of Alex in "Pop Goes the Weasel". The portrayal of the family dynamic with his children, Nana Mama, and his relationship with Christine added a layer of depth and warmth to the story.

Amidst this, there was still the chaos of Alex solving the Jane Doe murders and tracking down 4 serial killers. The book was fun, fast-paced, and, as always, had short chapters that made it a breeze to read.

As I finish each of the books in the series, I find myself becoming more and more committed to finishing the series in its entirety. I can't wait to see what other adventures and mysteries Alex Cross will encounter in the remaining books.

The combination of thrilling crime-solving and the exploration of Alex's personal life makes this series a must-read for any mystery lover.

I highly recommend "Pop Goes the Weasel" and the entire Alex Cross series to anyone looking for an exciting and engaging read.
