I must admit that I am truly growing weary of the seemingly never-ending parade of serial killers in each and every installment of this series. It sometimes feels as if there is an overabundance of such dark and disturbing characters. However, it is the remarkable characterization of the various individuals that keeps me coming back for more...at least for the time being. Alex, with his complex personality and unwavering determination, is a character that I can't help but be drawn to. Jannie, Damon, and Nana Mama add a touch of warmth and humanity to the story, making it more than just a tale of crime and violence. Sampson, too, is a reliable and loyal friend, and his presence in the series is always a welcome one. And then there's Christine, who brings a different kind of dynamic to the narrative. Her relationship with Alex adds an element of romance and emotional depth that helps to balance out the darker aspects of the story. While I may be tired of the serial killers, it is the well-developed characters that continue to hold my interest and keep me turning the pages.
