Jannie, Damon, and Nana Mama add a touch of warmth and humanity to the story, making it more than just a tale of crime and violence. Sampson, too, is a reliable and loyal friend, and his presence in the series is always a welcome one.

And then there's Christine, who brings a different kind of dynamic to the narrative. Her relationship with Alex adds an element of romance and emotional depth that helps to balance out the darker aspects of the story. While I may be tired of the serial killers, it is the well-developed characters that continue to hold my interest and keep me turning the pages.
