What a thrilling ride it has been!

This book is filled with so much murder that it keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

I was truly amazed at how quickly I finished it. It was so captivating that I couldn't put it down.

The characters of Jack and Jill were not at all what I expected. They had their own hidden motives and secrets that added an extra layer of mystery to the story.

And the identity of the school killer was a complete shock. The twist was so unexpected that it made me reevaluate everything I thought I knew about the story.

Overall, this is a great book that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery thriller. It has all the elements of a great story - action, suspense, and a memorable cast of characters.

A murderous duo known as Jack and Jill are on a killing spree in Washington, D.C., targeting important individuals. Detective Alex Cross is assigned to the case when they pose a threat to the President. However, Cross has a more personal case on his mind as children are being killed at the school his young son attends. As Cross investigates both cases, the deaths continue to pile up. The question looms: Is anyone in Washington truly safe?

This book, first published in 1996, is filled with intense action and mind-bending suspense. Although it may seem a bit dated in some aspects, the story remains highly enjoyable. In this third installment of the Alex Cross series, the plot is just as action-packed and exciting as the first two books.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. I only started reading it this year because it's part of The Great American Read. I'm not sure why I never picked up a James Patterson book before. Maybe it was due to the overwhelming number of books and limited time. But I'm glad I finally gave the Alex Cross series a chance. It's really quite good. Catching up will take some time as the series has 25 books and Jack & Jill is only the third. Book 26, Target, is set to be released in November 2018. I have a lot of reading and listening ahead!

I listened to the audio version of this book, which is narrated by Ron Butler and Maxwell Hamilton. The audio is just over 12 hours long, and both narrators read at a nice pace. I appreciate the fact that they change when the point of view changes. Even with my hearing loss, I was able to hear and understand the entire book.

I have book 4, Cat and Mouse, on hold at the library. I'm definitely continuing with this series. I like Alex Cross as the main character. He's gritty, intelligent, and hard-hitting. I also like all the side characters, especially Nana Mama and Sampson. However, I have noticed a tendency in this series to kill or victimize any woman that Alex views as a potential love interest. It's happened in every book so far, and it seems repetitive and unrealistic. But since this is only book 3, I'm suspending judgment for now. If this becomes a major repeating plot point as I get further into the series, it might make me stop reading.

I can understand why this series is part of the list of 100 books for The Great American Read. This bestselling series has captivated readers for 25 years. The Great American Read honors 100 books that have inspired the American public to read and talk about books. The list includes a wide variety of titles, from classics to contemporary fiction. Check out the list here: https://www.pbs.org/the-great-america... In my pursuit to read all 100 books/series, I'm currently at 16. (I'm counting series as one, even if I read multiple books.) There's still a lot of reading to do! I love this concept and hope they do something similar again!

Alright! How many murders can there be in a thriller book?

Those who read extremely thrilling or murder mystery novels might get really annoyed when they hear this kind of question. :3 What are these words! A book is just a book and a murder is just a murder. Is there a fixed rule or not? The job of the killers is to commit murders and it's the responsibility of the police or the homicide department to find and catch them. Well... to create the framework of a thrilling and exciting thriller book ;) :P

Let's imagine one thing... A board like a ludo playing board, where the pictures of many famous people (each famous in their respective fields) are placed. Two adults have started spinning... The person whose picture the spinner lands on will be announced dead.

What a terrifying situation!

Following this pattern, several people have already been murdered... What can be called a perfect murder. There are many more on that list. Due to these continuous murders, the detectives, police, and members of the secret service are in a crazy state! They are murdering like a dog in a frenzy and also writing notes with great courage! And from these murders, it's clear that there is not one killer... but a pair.
Jack and Jill. In their language - these are not murders, but a game.

Now another story... One after another, children are being murdered. The method of murder is also very gruesome. Of course, there is no pattern followed in these murders. It's a bit of an unpredictable type... but in each murder, the mark of intelligence is clear. The terrified teachers and parents in the school. What's next?

Think calmly throughout the city. What a massacre situation! On one hand, the murders of the celebrities and on the other hand, the terrifying deaths of the innocent children.

Family crazy, serial killer and psychiatrist expert and detective doctor Alex Cross. In this revolutionary situation in the country, how can he just sit idle? He is more interested in investigating the murders of children than those of the celebrities. He has also started. But there is an obstacle from the secret service. The security of the famous people is more important than that of the children. So they forcefully took him into their team. Poor Alex. The burden of two complex investigations on his shoulders. One official and the other unofficial.

Will he be able to handle it?
The biggest question is the reason for these cruel murders or what! And is there one killer? More than one? Or many?

An extraordinary psycho + murder mystery thriller book is 'Jack and Jill'. Right from the beginning, it's a warning that this book is not for children. Of course, the translator has translated it a bit carefully for the sake of being held in everyone's hands. ;) (Y)
What can I say about the book? I'm shocked. While reading the book, if you suddenly stand up now, you will immediately shake your head in disappointment. You will be filled with surprise, a huge sigh will come out of your chest. And after the book ends? Stay... that has been left to the readers :D

At the beginning, I asked a question, how many murders can there be in a thriller book. To be honest, in this case, the book has really impressed me. At least a dozen murders -_- The author's style of telling an impossible and beautiful story. Right from the beginning, it forces the reader's attention. Then just enter the depth of the story...

Now coming to another aspect... I have a great aversion to reading books in English. One of the reasons is that the reading speed slows down. But now there is no more such regret. Do you know why? :D There are bold and confident translators among us. And more are being created... (Mashallah! May no evil eye fall) I wouldn't have been able to read this mind-blowing book by James Patterson if Saif Shihab didn't translate it :P Impossible wonderful... It doesn't feel like reading a translation. Since I read the first translated book by Saif Shihab, 'Therapy', I didn't think for a moment when buying the book 'Jack and End Jill'. The expectations from the translator have increased even more. If he keeps translating like this, it's not a fault that the bar of expectations will keep rising. After all, our demands are limitless :P And yeah... I don't like the cover of this murder mystery book to be so simple and calm :/ It could have been more dashing.

And what else? Let's go and meet Jack and Jill in a wild game...

Happy happy victory victory.

Book - Jack and Jill
Author - James Patterson
Translator - Saif Shihab
Publisher - Adi

Surprisingly, considering the extensive library of books that James Patterson has penned, this is merely my sixth. It is also only the third to feature Alex Cross, whom I had previously confused with Amos Decker in the David Baldacci books. Additionally, this is book 3 in the series. The others I have read are all much later, so this is beneficial for further developing his character. He lost his wife, loves his two kids and his Nana, and doesn't possess a photographic memory or a linebacker build.

I had completely forgotten just how much I had relished the first two Alex Cross novels until I delved into this particular one.

The writing within these pages is incredibly smooth, flowing effortlessly from one sentence to the next. Patterson's storytelling prowess is truly top-notch, captivating the reader from the very first page.

There were several nice twists and turns along the way that added an element of excitement and kept me on the edge of my seat. However, I did find that the overall ending was a little bit predictable.

Just because it was predictable doesn't necessarily mean that it was bad, though. In fact, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had its flaws, but the engaging plot and well-developed characters more than made up for it.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery or thriller. It's a great addition to the Alex Cross series and I can't wait to see what Patterson has in store for us next.

This is a captivating murder mystery thriller that features some truly excellent plot twists. It is the third installment in James Patterson's Alex Cross series, following "Along Came a Spider" and "Kiss the Girls". Alex Cross, a psychologist and detective with the DC police, is also a single father striving to raise a family. His wife was brutally murdered some time ago, and his crime interests become intertwined with his romantic interests. His grandmother lives with him and assists in raising his two children.

The book is crafted with a fast-paced plot, numerous twists, and short chapters. The writing may not be of the highest literary caliber, but it is by no means bad. There are two concurrent serial killers at large. One targets high-profile DC figures, while the other rampages in the ghetto, both of which draw Cross into their web. Patterson does a remarkable job of interweaving these two storylines.

As a psychologist, Cross attempts to get inside the minds of the killers to understand their motives. Patterson, as the author, employs a similar approach, delving into the psyches of the villains. While I wasn't entirely convinced by the psychological aspects, it doesn't detract from the thrilling nature of the book.

Overall, it offers plenty of entertainment value, although it shouldn't be taken overly seriously.

While reading this one, I couldn't help but think, was "Kiss the Girls" really that good?

Patterson does have a terse writing style, but it didn't seem this bad before. Here, it's truly bad. Throughout the entire reading process, I felt as if Patterson simply hacked this one out of the word processor in a single draft without a second look. For a person who writes so sparingly, he is remarkably repetitive throughout the story.

'Was Jack up ahead? Was Hawkins Jack? Was this Jack up ahead? Could this be Jack up ahead? Had we just been that close to catching Jack?'... This within just 3 pages. Who on earth is this guy's editor?

Another aspect that bothered me was the excessive amount of pop culture references thrown in. It was an obviously contrived attempt to authenticate things (Simpsons, ER, Pulp Fiction, MTV). Now you might be wondering, if I disliked it so much, why did I finish it? Well, I have to admit that the story itself was rather good, and I simply had to see it through to find out how things turned out.

Given the right director and screenplay, this would make an excellent movie. As for future Patterson works, I'll wait for the movies, thank you.

Part of me is reluctant to concede that Patterson has the knack for penning a page-turning thriller. This is because nearly every book of his that I've perused has possessed that quality.

On the flip side, the manner in which he caters to specific audiences in his works constantly makes me scowl. Be it the out-of-date, "trendy" allusions he employs to draw in younger readers, or the cheesy and entirely foreseeable romance elements targeted at middle-aged moms, the Cross series has the potential to be so much greater if it were simply a hard-boiled crime-thriller from start to finish. And to some degree, most of his books are, including Jack and Jill.

Consequently, even though his writing can be embarrassing at times, there's no disputing that there is a certain charm to his series, especially the one about detective Alex Cross.

Love James Paterson. There is no hate towards him from me. I truly love his books, and this one is no exception, perhaps because I'm a bit biased.

However, the only aspect that I didn't quite like was its political nature and the fact that it seemed a little unrealistic. For instance, the casual meetings with the president and the ease with which the characters gained access to all these high-security places. I'm not a fan of that part.

Nevertheless, it's still a good story overall. I'm really excited to continue reading the series and see where the plot takes me. I'm sure there will be more thrilling adventures and interesting developments ahead.

Despite the minor flaws, James Paterson's writing style and his ability to create engaging stories keep me hooked. I'm looking forward to exploring more of his works and enjoying the entertainment they provide.

Alex Cross is back in this, the third installment from top-selling American author, James Patterson.

The action kicks off with the shocking murder of a US Senator. Meanwhile, closer to home, a young girl is also discovered dead. Soon enough, the body count begins to rise, and Homicide Detective Alex Cross emerges as the go-to person. Cross finds himself torn between two seemingly unconnected serial murder cases. The young children being killed attend the same school as Cross's own sons, giving the cases personal significance for him. However, the political crimes are highly publicized, and the nation demands that the killer(s) be caught. Could the deaths be related?

Just like all Patterson books, the writing style is fast-paced and punchy. The chapters are short, with each one captivating the reader and pulling them into the next. The pages seem to fly by rapidly, and this trademark style makes for a quick, yet engrossing read. Patterson enthusiasts will relish this novel as much as any other. And although the Patterson production line isn't yet in full gear, the framework and formula that will give birth to many more books in the future most definitely is. You know exactly what to expect from a James Patterson thriller, and this one is no different. It's an entertaining, yet easy-to-read thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
