A plethora of twists and turns occurred within the pages of this book, maintaining a constant state of excitement. The flock is perpetually on the run, fleeing from "the school" (their creators) who are desperate to reclaim them, as well as from the "erasers" (humans genetically connected to wolves by 5% through DNA). My absolute favorite part of the story transpired when Iggy, the blind character, and Gazzy, one of the younger kids, got carried away and blew up a portion of the school. It was an electrifying moment that had me on the edge of my seat.

My favorite character is Maximum Ride. She assumes the leadership role with such finesse and is incredibly caring towards the rest of the flock. Her loyalty is unwavering, which is a key takeaway from the story. She demonstrates time and again that she will do whatever it takes to protect her family. Maximum Ride is not only a strong and capable leader but also a compassionate and empathetic individual. Her character truly embodies the values of loyalty and caring, making her a truly remarkable and unforgettable protagonist.

My teenager at home was really eager for me to read this series as he had a great love for it.

Now, it's important to note that this is indeed a teen book, and it's written by the renowned author James Patterson. And yes, you can definitely tell just by looking at it that it's targeted towards the younger audience.

Despite being a teen book, it was actually a good and quick read for me as well. The story was engaging enough to keep my attention throughout. It had the right amount of excitement, adventure, and drama that made it a enjoyable read.

I'm glad my teenager recommended this series to me, as it gave me a chance to see what he's interested in and also allowed us to have some great discussions about the book afterwards.

This book was just okay.

To be honest, I did encounter some difficulties in following the storyline.

It became really confusing, especially when it transitioned abruptly from an action scene to them being at school or at Anne's house.

That kind of transition felt rather weird and disrupted the flow of the narrative.

Also, I couldn't help but question the point of Iggy meeting his parents.

If, just 10 - 15 minutes later, he was right back with the flock, what was the significance of that encounter?

And then there's this other Max.

Was she introduced merely to irritate the real Max, or is there some other, more elaborate plan involving her?

I find myself wondering what role she's going to play in the subsequent books.

It makes me curious about how the author will develop her character and how she will fit into the overall story arc.

Overall, while the book had its moments, these aspects left me with some lingering questions and a bit of a sense of dissatisfaction.

I truly have a profound affection for this series.

It is filled with intense action and thrilling adventures that keep the readers on the edge of their seats.

Undoubtedly, it is an outstanding book that has the power to captivate the audience from the very first page.

The only aspect that might seem a bit different is that the chapters are relatively short. However, this is precisely the reason why there are a large number of chapters.

Each short chapter serves as a building block, contributing to the overall narrative and creating a sense of momentum and excitement.

Despite the brevity of the chapters, the story still manages to unfold in a detailed and engaging manner, making it a highly enjoyable read for fans of action and adventure.

Overall, this series is a must-read for anyone who loves to embark on exciting literary journeys.

Book two in the brilliant Maximum Ride series is truly a captivating read.

I am still completely invested and absolutely loving this series. It falls into the YA/Fantasy genre, and I find them to be such easy reads that I just can't get enough of.

I love them, I enjoy them, and I get so lost in their world and lives. It's a refreshingly different read for me at the moment.

In this story, there are plenty more intense fights against flying enemies. They've really upped their game since book one. There are numerous escapes, death-defying dodges, and uncomfortable situations that keep the story tense and fast-paced.

The flock in book two is determined to find their birth families, but they are soon sent back to normal school, or so they thought... dun dun dun. Another cliffhanger leaves me on the edge of my seat, eagerly waiting to see what will happen to the flock in book three.

They're all such a lovely flock/family. I would highly recommend this series and book. It definitely deserves another four stars from me.

Max is still very much the leader/mother of the flock, and she shines when she comes up against a perfect enemy clone of herself. But will the flock believe her? Only time will tell.

DNF @ 41%.

I've been delving into this book since January 2022. From the very beginning, I've been merely attempting to plow through it. It's been a rather arduous task, to be honest.

As I progress further, I find myself increasingly disenchanted with the story and its development. The characters don't seem to have much depth, and the plot lacks the kind of excitement and innovation that would keep me hooked.

At this point, I'm seriously considering giving up on the entire series. It's a tough decision, but I just don't see myself getting much more out of it. Maybe it's time to move on and explore other literary works that can offer a more fulfilling reading experience.

I hope that in the future, I'll come across books that will truly capture my imagination and make me fall in love with reading all over again.

The book is truly good, and you simply have to appreciate the way it is written with Max having a bad attitude.

However, most of the time, you find yourself completely clueless as to where the story is headed. In the first two-thirds of the book, there is a "goal" that emerges, but this makes everything else that has happened up until that point seem rather unnecessary.

Moreover, there are some plot holes, and when combined with all the two-page long chapters, it makes you have a bit of doubt in the author.

Still, I think I'm going to read the next book to finish the first series.

I'm curious to see if the subsequent installment will clear up some of the confusion and address the issues that I've noticed in this one.

Despite the flaws, there is something about the story and the characters that keeps pulling me in and makes me want to know more.

Maybe the next book will be the one that ties everything together and makes the entire series truly shine.

Only time will tell, but for now, I'm willing to give it a chance and see where the journey takes me.

Ari is alive again! The White Coat is patching him up. Meanwhile, the Erasers are on the hunt for Max and the Flock, and they manage to bring Fang to the brink of death once more. He loses a significant amount of blood. When Max attempts to treat him, someone spots them and calls the ambulance. Fang undergoes an operation, and Max and Ig selflessly donate their blood to him. Then there's the FBI, interrogating them about their wings and such. Max and the Flock come up with false names, and they end up getting interviewed. A woman named Anne from the FBI wants to take care of them. Max has no choice but to accept since Fang is still not in the best of health. And now, they're going to a real school! Haha! Gasman and Ig often cause explosions in the toilet. Max is dating someone named Sam, which makes Fang jealous. There's also a red-haired girl who has a crush on Fang. One day, Max witnesses the girl kissing Fang. It's quite amusing to see them jealous of each other. But it doesn't really matter. Max and Fang often take to the sky at midnight, using the codes they obtained from the Institute to try and figure out where their parents live. Fang initially thought the codes were the numbers on a map, but he was wrong. One day, Max and Fang hear about a family named Griffiths who lost their child 14 years ago. It turns out to be Iggy's family name. So, Max and the others take Iggy to his parents' house. Iggy now lives with his family. Max and the others feel a mix of happiness and sadness. They've grown up together for years. One day, a horde of Erasers shows up at the school, and they discover that Anne is part of them. As a result, Max and the Flock seek refuge in a cave. Oh, I almost forgot. Angel has Total, a speaking dog that she found in the Institute. When they were still at Anne's house, Max discovers that there are two Maxes - the real Max and Max the Eraser. Max and the Flock encounter two children, and it turns out they are spying on them. They were also kidnapped by the White Coat. Max is furious and demands that they give her an answer. And they say: Itex. It's a company that owns half the world. They're everywhere - in jeans, technology, computers, and much more. Max has a mission - to save the world first. But she has no idea how. So, they head off to Itex. One day, when they're sleeping in one place, Max wakes up and realizes she's not with the Flock. Instead, it's Max the Eraser who is with them. Read this book to find out what happens next with Max and the others!!!

In this second installment of the series, the web of mysteries and conspiracies thickens. The 6 individuals initially find a semblance of stability when they settle down with an FBI agent. However, this tranquility is short-lived as they soon find themselves on the run once again.

We are also treated to more insights from the voice in Max's head, which serves as a guide as they follow the breadcrumbs of clues to uncover more information about their past. What makes this book a bit more captivating than the first is the gradual revelation of each character's evolving abilities. As they progress, it becomes clear that their powers are not static but continue to develop and expand.

Overall, I am intrigued enough to continue with this series. However, I don't anticipate binge-reading it. I prefer to savor each installment and allow the story to unfold at a more leisurely pace, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the complex world that the author has created.

This was one of my favorite books.

To be honest, the whole series so far has been really good.

In this book, even though it is fiction, I felt a strong connection with Max.

Multiple times in the story, Max exclaims, "I'm so overwhelmed," "This is so overwhelming."

I can completely relate to her because I too often feel like I have a heavy burden on my shoulders.

I have to juggle schoolwork with sports, maintain friendships, and still find time for fun activities.

Also in the story, Max begins to lead a regular life as a teenager.

During this time, she has difficulties with boys.

I can identify with this to some degree.

In the story, Max is confused about who she likes between Fang and another boy she met at school.

In my own life, I also get confused about boys, but in a different way.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a bit of "family" drama, action, and fantasy.

I would also suggest reading the entire series for a more comprehensive and enjoyable experience.

Ok, so here is my detailed thought on the book. It was an absolute bore! Seriously, every single event that took place in that book seemed so ordinary and could have happened to anyone. It was driving me completely crazy as I was constantly thinking, "That sounds precisely like what happened to my sister Luciana!"

My next point and major issue with the book is the name "Max". I mean, it's not too bad for a boy, but for a girl? What is she supposed to be, some kind of half-girl half-boy creature? And she has wings too, which makes her even more of a strange creature. I truly think that Smeagol or Siddartha could have written a better book than this. At least Siddartha has achieved total enlightenment.

I found this book incredibly immature, just like eating a bowl of soggy Captain Crunch. Also, what kind of name is "Total" for a dog? I initially thought it was a special type of cereal for old ladies to regulate their digestion! Apparently, it's the name of some lame dog. And the author really could have chosen better names for his characters. "Fang" is straight out of Harry Potter, so I consider that copy-catting. "Nudge" is also a strange name. Honestly, the name "Grover" would have been better. "Angel" isn't too bad, but it's more like a pet's name. And "Gas Man" is a cheap remake of the Boogie Man from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I wonder what he's made of? Maybe gas? But if he's made of gas, how can he be a character in the book?

The problem with this book is that it has so many errors and holes that are left unfilled. It makes me want to scream like this: RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I hate it a super mega lot. You may be wondering why I rated the book a 4. Well, that's solely because I think it's inhumane to rate any book below a 4. Even as bad as this book is, it still has self-esteem and deserves to be at least a little bit loved. Peace be unto thy soul... NOT! Thank you, and audeiu.

I'm not lying but for a while here I thought that Max must have gotten lost somewhere in the air and I missed her. So you can imagine my joy when I saw that she was back with her amazing rhythm and her breath-taking adventures.

James Patterson has a natural way of writing for young people. I'm talking about short sentences, few descriptions, and a lot, really a lot of action. I'm also talking about one of the few books I know that has an older sister as the main character and one with whom I can relate. And perhaps for this reason, this opinion leans more towards a 4 than a 3.5. But we have to admit that the character of the older sister is very mistreated and it's quite nice to see one doing "well in life".

Max has a unique and fun personality. Although she is only fourteen years old, she acts as if she is older due to a life of abuse and the mutations her DNA has been exposed to. She is a character who sounds real because of her mini-jealousy crises, her need to protect the younger ones, her having a favorite sister, and her not having a clue that she is in love with one of the members of her gang.

She is a teenager with her problems and existential crises, and let's be honest, being half a bird doesn't help. And that's the image Patterson passes on to his readers. A certain image of fragility but also of strength because Max always ends up getting up to face her enemies. It's no wonder Patterson is a best-selling author. If there is a magic formula for fast and captivating books, he has found it.

The chapters can be as short as a few lines or as long as a few pages but they are never very long. The characters are fun, although they also have their flaws, and this saga seems to me to be among the best for teenagers due to the plot, which is a little more complex than it first appears, the fast-paced action scenes, the mid-air battles, and the slight touch of science fiction.

Although sometimes I have the feeling that Max's life is made easier through certain powers and situations that arise, the reality is that this is a book for teenagers and Max is also a teenager. As such, there are situations where help is necessary and has to be given for the characters to be able to evolve and for the story to follow its course.

That being said, the only flaws to point out in the book are the translation, which is not the best with sentences translated literally instead of being adapted to Portuguese, and the proofreading that let a few spelling errors slip through. Although the spelling errors don't cause me much confusion, the literal translation does because it's easy to see what the English sentence was and what its meaning was. Still, these are isolated cases that don't systematically interfere with the reading.

Before finishing, I would like to say that I loved the idea of the Bestseller putting the opinions of national blogs next to the comments of international newspapers. I was very satisfied to see your work highlighted, not only because I know some of the blogs mentioned but also because it helps to create the idea that Max is a story that appeals to the Portuguese.

I'm now eagerly waiting for the third volume of the series. Personally, I think the English title of the next volume promises (Maximum Ride - Saving the world and other extreme sports) and I'm already saving a place for it on my bookshelf. A book full of adventure and action that will delight young people. - Catarina
