Additionally, even after not looking at the book for extended periods, it's not overly difficult to figure out what's happening, as it essentially involves good guy mutant birds attempting to flee from bad guy mutant dogs.

However, I do sense that the short chapters have a somewhat derogatory tone, as if the author is convinced that all young adults don't read and thus must talk down to them. The writing is too choppy, which is why it's only suitable for those quick visits to the bathroom. It's fine in small doses and with long intervals in between.

Overall, while the book has its merits for specific reading situations, the writing style and tone could potentially be improved to make it more engaging and respectful for a wider range of readers.

To be fair, everything else in this story or experience was okay. It had its moments, and I was initially quite engaged. However, when it came to the ending, it was an absolute disaster.

It felt rushed, as if the author or creator just wanted to get it over with. There were loose ends that were left unresolved, and the conclusion didn't make any sense. It completely ruined the whole thing for me.

I had high hopes going into it, but the ending just killed it. It's a real shame because the rest of it had so much potential. Now, whenever I think about it, all I can remember is that terrible ending.

In exchange for Fang's treatment, Max grudgingly agrees for the Flock to stay with Anne Walker, an agent, until Fang recovers.

After a few days, Anne enrolls the Flock in a school run by William Pruitt. Fang and Max start dating people from the school named Lissa and Sam respectively, and Iggy becomes friends with Tess, another girl.

However, Iggy then discovers his parents and the Flock has to bid farewell to him. The very next day, Max enters the teachers' lounge, and Pruitt, along with three other teachers, pull out tasers.

The Flock manages to escape but has to return to Anne's house for Total. At this moment, Iggy rejoins the Flock, stating that his family treated him like a sideshow act.

They then head to Florida. On the way, they uncover that the School is operated by a large corporation named Itex.

In Florida, Max is kidnapped and placed in a sensory deprivation tank, and is replaced by Max II, an evil identical of her.

The new Max leads the Flock into a trap at Itex's main branch, while the original Max eventually manages to get out of the tank.

The original Max makes her way to Itex and engages in a life-or-death battle with Max II. Max emerges victorious but decides not to kill Max II.

The Flock then makes their escape by means of one of Iggy and Gazzy's explosives.

Book 2 is indeed rather good.

I must admit that I would prefer a bit less explicit telling in this installment.

The environmental commentary seems to be detracting from the story to a greater extent than it is enhancing it.

Nonetheless, I did take pleasure in the small measure of normalcy that the characters were able to experience.

Moreover, this is a fast-paced read that keeps the reader engaged.

With a total of 409 pages, it offers a substantial amount of content to explore.

Despite the minor drawbacks, Book 2 still has its merits and is worth the read for those interested in the series.

It will be interesting to see how the story develops further in the subsequent books.

Whoa! This book is full of surprises.

Firstly, Ari survives. Jeb, Ari's father, initially seems neglectful but later shows pride in Ari for his plan to kidnap Max to befriend her.

Ari still has a strange obsession with Max and hangs out with Max II, who is an Eraser.

Max notices the changes in Angel. At only 7 years old, Angel uses her mind control powers to "assist" various people, including the President of the USA, teachers, police officers, and Erasers (for fighting). She even announces that she wouldn't mind leading the group, which scares Max and Fang.

Max still has the chip in her shoulder and is drawn to Fang. After a fight between Fang and Ari, they rush Fang to the hospital and are later met by FBI agents, especially Anne.

It turns out that Anne was Jeb's boss all along. She takes them in, enrolls them in school, and tries to give them a normal life with home-cooked meals. At the Thanksgiving dinner, she announces her intention to adopt them. However, when they discover her connection to Jeb, they flee.

Max is kidnapped by scientists for further experiments, and Max II takes her place with the flock. Max II thinks nobody notices the switch until she offers to cook breakfast.

This is a fast and fun read. I can't wait for the next book.
