Vampires! Or are they?

Alex Cross, the renowned detective, stumbles upon a truly bizarre case. The bodies of slain joggers are found hung and completely drained of blood. What makes this even more astonishing is that there are not just one or two such cases, but numerous ones with similar circumstances occurring throughout the country.

As if this weren't enough, Cross's arch-nemesis, the Mastermind, persists in taunting and stalking him. The Mastermind's presence looms large over the investigation, adding an extra layer of complexity and danger.

This book is especially captivating for those who have already read Roses Are Red. It delves deeper into the mind of Alex Cross and the twisted world of the crimes he investigates. I can say no more, as I don't want to give away any spoilers. But trust me, it's a thrilling ride from start to finish.

I'm finding James Patterson books a bit samey if I'm honest.

I do like the short chapters, which make the reading process quite smooth and easy.

However, it seems that there isn't much substance to them.

The stories often lack depth and complexity, and the characters may not be fully developed.

Despite this, I still think they are good for easy holiday reading.

They don't require too much mental effort and can be finished quickly.

Overall, I would give James Patterson books four stars.

They are not the best in terms of literary quality, but they do serve their purpose as light entertainment.

I will probably continue to read them when I'm in the mood for something easy and enjoyable.

Hold dear this card from the beginning to the end. It's a terrifying story, well-structured, with beautifully contoured characters, a blend of emotions. There is a sadistic criminal, eager for revenge, and a charming and spiritual detective. It's a psychological war between two powerful minds. The best one wins!

This story takes you on a thrilling journey. You'll be on the edge of your seat as you follow the twists and turns of the plot. The criminal's actions are truly terrifying, while the detective's pursuit is both passionate and intelligent. The contrast between the two characters makes for a captivating read.

As the story unfolds, you'll find yourself drawn into the minds of both the criminal and the detective. You'll understand their motives, their fears, and their desires. The psychological warfare between them is intense, and you'll be rooting for one of them to come out on top. In the end, only one can be the victor, and you'll be left breathless by the outcome.

Age Appropriate For: 13 and up
Best for Ages: 13-18

This summer, while I was working, I bought a few books written by homeschooled authors that had been on my reading list for ages. One of them had been on my list almost since I started Homeschooled Authors, so I decided to get it.

There's always a bit of hesitation when reading a book by someone so young. Elizabeth Rose was only 13 when this book was published, and one might assume that the writing wouldn't be that great. However, Elizabeth Rose did an outstanding job for her age. Younger readers will likely get the most out of it, but older readers might also enjoy it. The story is told well, and the vocabulary is so good that it's easy to forget it was written by a 13-year-old.

Violet is a sweet girl that many readers will be able to relate to. Although she's a good girl, she makes mistakes and has issues, which makes the book feel real and believable. Her struggles and triumphs are easy to identify with and will be very relatable for readers.
The book is also well-researched historically. It introduces readers to the life of American immigrants, the hardships of factories, and the Titanic. I think it would be a great introduction for younger family members to this time in history.
Before giving the book to younger readers, parents should be aware that Violet has thoughts of self-harm at one point in the story. I won't go into details as it would give away part of the plot. However, the situation is handled well, and younger readers might need parental guidance through that section of the book (chapter 25).
I recommend this book to those who enjoy historical fiction, are interested in immigrants or the Titanic, and like a well-told story.

It's a great read that offers both entertainment and education.

I can't believe I actually managed to finish this book.

During the crazy and busy school year, I was in desperate need of an easy, no-brainer read that could simply provide some entertainment without requiring too much mental effort. And in that regard, this book did fulfill its purpose to a certain extent.

However, I have to admit that it was really quite stupid. The entire plot revolved around vampire murders, which seemed rather clichéd and unoriginal. I'm not entirely sure how I was able to get through it.

I've read several other books by Patterson in the past, and I have to say that this one definitely wasn't one of the better ones. It lacked the depth, excitement, and engaging storytelling that I've come to expect from his works.

Overall, while it served as a quick and easy read during a busy time, it didn't leave a lasting impression and I probably wouldn't recommend it to others.

In this edition, Alex Cross is confronted with a truly disturbing case. There are lunatics who firmly believe they are vampires and actually drink human blood. All the while, he has to endure the taunting of a psychopath who calls himself the mastermind.

I generally enjoy the Alex Cross books that I read. They have a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat, constantly guessing what's going to come next. However, this particular installment left me with a somewhat different impression.

It seemed as though a significant portion of the book was focused more on Alex and his family rather than on solving the case at hand. While it was clear that he was working on the case and that was shown to some extent, it just didn't feel as if the book was truly centered on the murders.

Overall, I would rate this book as 2.5, which I'm rounding up to a 3. It had its moments, but it didn't quite live up to the expectations I had based on previous installments in the series.

In this book, Alex is confronted with a situation that challenges his beliefs. He has always been skeptical about the existence of vampires, but then he discovers a series of murders that bear the hallmarks of vampire attacks. As he delves deeper into the case, he stumbles upon a whole cult of people who firmly believe that they are vampires.

The murders continue to pile up, and Alex finds himself in a race against time to solve the mystery and stop the killers. Along the way, he encounters an old foe from his past, someone who he thought he had left behind. This unexpected encounter adds another layer of complexity to the situation and forces Alex to confront his own demons.

As the story unfolds, Alex must use all of his skills and resources to piece together the puzzle and figure out who is behind the murders. Will he be able to overcome his disbelief and accept the possibility that vampires really exist? Or will he be too late to stop the cult from carrying out their twisted plans? Only time will tell in this thrilling tale of mystery and suspense.

The 7th instalment of the Alex Cross series is a thrilling continuation that follows Alex immediately after the events of "Roses are Red".

He is plunged into a case that is far weirder than any he has ever been involved in before. The Mastermind persists in tormenting him, and secrets start to emerge from the shadows.

This book stands out as being truly great. It is unusual compared to the other cases Alex has dealt with. We witness his intense struggle to balance his work life and personal life, as his work begins to consume him. There is new love on the horizon, new kills that shock, and secrets that are unleashed, adding to the already complex and captivating storyline.

The combination of these elements makes this instalment a must-read for fans of the Alex Cross series and those who enjoy gripping crime thrillers.

This is absolutely atrocious.

I rarely fail to finish a book, but I gave up on this one after several chapters. I was seeking something easy to read, yet this is extremely hard to read due to its poor writing. I have perused a few of James Patterson's 'Alex Cross' series, and I am completely baffled as to how he manages to sell so many books.

The writing is shockingly bland and lacks any inspiration. It is monotonous and dreary, making it a real chore to get through. These books follow a formula, perhaps not as blatantly as Dan Brown's books, for instance, but it is still patently evident.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend steering clear of this particular offering. There are far better books out there that will provide a more engaging and enjoyable reading experience.

I absolutely loved the creepy Vampire hunting Alex Cross in this installment. It was the perfect read for October.

However, I have to admit that I knew it! I had already guessed who the Mastermind was when I read "Roses are Red", and I'm glad that storyline is finally over so we can move on to the next killer.

Of course, Gary is still out there somewhere. I'm certain we haven't seen the last of him.

Overall, it was always a fun read. With Patterson's signature fast pace and short chapters, it was an easy book to devour quickly. It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, and I can't wait to see what's in store for Alex Cross in the next adventure.

Recently, I came across an interesting book. At first, I had certain expectations about it, but as I delved into its pages, I found that it was not exactly what I had anticipated. However, to my pleasant surprise, it turned out to be a really good read.

The story took unexpected turns, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout. The characters were well-developed and had unique personalities that made them easy to relate to. The author's writing style was engaging and descriptive, painting vivid pictures in my mind.

Despite not meeting my initial expectations, this book managed to capture my attention and hold it until the very end. It offered a fresh perspective and introduced me to new ideas and concepts. I would highly recommend this book to others who are looking for an enjoyable and thought-provoking read.
