I’ve seen Carl Hiaasen’s name for years, and finally, I decided to read one of his books.

Labeled as young adult or even middle school literature, this book tells the fun story of a brother and sister. They engage in some sleuthing to assist their idealistic yet somewhat irresponsible father.

Set in Florida (as I understand most of his books are), this story is light and airy. It combines some family troubles with environmental concerns, and it was an enjoyable read. I can understand why so many people like his writing. The pages turned easily, and I liked the characters.

While this book was never quite laugh-out-loud funny, there were several humorous scenes. Overall, it was a good adventure story intended for a younger audience.

I liked this book so much that I will definitely try one of his adult novels.

Flush was a remarkable book that I happened upon at a thrift store. What initially caught my eye was that it was missing the large picture paper that typically covers the ordinary layout of the book. This unique feature made me curious and compelled me to pick it up.

I was able to finish this book in just two days. It is a relatively quick read, which is great for those with a busy schedule. However, don't let the short reading time fool you. The book has an interesting backstory that keeps you engaged from start to finish.

The mystery that surrounds the family members and Noah's interesting perspective on his troublemaker dad add an extra layer of intrigue to the story. It makes you question what is really going on and keeps you guessing until the very end.

Overall, I thought this book was incredible. It had a great plot, well-developed characters, and a unique writing style. I would definitely recommend it to others. I give it 4 stars.

I have a special affection for this book. Ever since I was a child, it has been one of my favorites.

Even today, after all these years, it still manages to maintain its charm and appeal.

The story within its pages is as engaging and captivating as it was when I first laid eyes on it.

It takes me on a journey to a world full of imagination and wonder, where anything is possible.

The characters are well-developed and relatable, making me feel as if I am a part of their adventures.

Whether it's the thrilling plot twists or the heartwarming moments, this book never fails to touch my heart.

It is truly a classic that will continue to be loved by generations to come.

My thirteen-year-old twins picked up this book and instantly got hooked on Carl Hiaasen. They were so enthusiastic about it that they insisted I read it too.

The main character in the story is a fourteen-year-old boy, which clearly indicates that the book is targeted at the teenage reader. However, to my surprise, I also found it to be an extremely enjoyable read.

The author's writing style is engaging and full of vivid descriptions that bring the story to life. The plot is filled with twists and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

As I delved deeper into the book, I found myself relating to the characters and their experiences. It made me reflect on my own teenage years and the challenges I faced.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to both teenagers and adults alike. It's a great read that will leave you entertained and with a newfound appreciation for Carl Hiaasen's writing.

Flush is an exciting middle grade novel that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

It takes readers on an adventure filled with saving the environment, dealing with family struggles, and finding the courage to overcome bullies.

As an adult, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. However, I do agree with some of the reviews I've come across.

At times, the language and certain situations in the book might be a bit too crass for younger children.

It's important to consider the age appropriateness of the content when recommending this novel to kids.

Overall, Flush is a great read with a lot of heart and important messages, but parents and teachers should be aware of its potentially mature elements.

I read Hoot by Hiaasen and was completely enamored with it. As a result, I was extremely excited to continue with Hiaasen's middle grade series and pick up this book, Flush.

While I didn't enjoy Flush quite as much as Hoot, mainly because there wasn't as much mystery, it was still an excellent and highly entertaining read. The book delves deeply into environmentalism, corrupt business practices, and family issues.

Noah Underwood's father has sunk a gambling ship and ended up in jail. His dad firmly believes that the gambling ship is dumping sewage into the ocean. It is then up to Noah and his sister Abbey to prove their father's claims and help get him out of jail. With Noah's dad's history of taking extreme measures against those who commit environmental crimes, the situation is also putting a strain on his parents' marriage. Now, it's not just about getting his dad out of jail, but also about trying to keep his parents together. Noah and Abbey set a trap to catch the owner of the gambling ship in the act, but they soon find themselves in more danger than they initially anticipated.

This book was very well done. It is beautifully written, easy to understand, and progresses at a brisk pace. I love how Noah's family copes with the various challenges and how the theme of environmentalism takes center stage in the story. I truly believe that people of all ages can find enjoyment in this book. It is witty, cleverly thought out, and never dull or slow. As I previously mentioned, I did have a slight preference for Hoot as it had more mystery and was more suspenseful.

Overall, Flush is another great eco-thriller from Hiaasen. I'm really looking forward to reading Scat as well. Everyone will discover something to love in this book. It's engaging, tackles some important issues, and is highly entertaining. It's suitable for all ages, although younger children may struggle to fully understand the complexity of the corrupt business practices that are discussed.

Flush is an engaging book that tells the story of a 14-year-old boy named Noah.

Noah's father is in jail for sinking a ship that was secretly dumping waste and fecal matter into the ocean at night. His father took this drastic action to prevent the sea from being further polluted.

Throughout the book, Noah and his family courageously stand up against this injustice and do everything in their power to bring about change.

I can draw a connection between Flush and Hoot, another book by the same author. The two main characters in both books play similar roles. They both strive to save something precious to them and succeed by working hard and taking risks.

They firmly stand up for what they believe is right and manage to make a significant difference.

This book also has a connection to the real world, where there is a great deal of injustice that many bystanders choose to ignore. However, there are also some upstanders who bravely step forward and attempt to stop the injustice, sometimes even achieving success on their own.

I would rate this book four stars. I really liked almost every aspect of it, including Carl Hiaasen's writing style and the captivating story.

However, one thing that I didn't quite like was that it was very similar to Hoot. It felt almost like the same story with the same character, just set in a different environment with different living conditions.

I would recommend this book to anyone aged 12 and above, as it is not overly difficult to understand.

I chose this book because it seemed like a really good one. It's fiction, but it probably could happen in real life.

It takes place in the Keys of California, I think. The main character is named Noah. Noah's dad, Paine, goes to jail because he tried to sink a boat that was dumping sewage in the ocean, which is something you're not supposed to do. He goes to jail because he doesn't have proof that Dusty is dumping sewage in the ocean.

The problem is that Dusty is indeed doing this, and he is friends with the Coast Guard, so he doesn't get caught until later. Noah, Abby, and Shelly come up with a plan. They take purple dye and flush it in the toilets. So if Dusty does dump the sewage in the ocean, the purple dye will show up and he will get caught. And sure enough, he does.

I thought the book was good overall. Some of the parts were a bit weird, but it still kept my interest. It was an exciting story with a good message about protecting the environment.

Flush: My Kindle Review

"Flush" is a remarkable book that, although it shares a somewhat similar premise with "Hoot," offers a unique and thrilling narrative. Instead of focusing on the same elements as its predecessor, "Flush" delves into the issue of illegal dumping in public waters and the story of a jailbird dad. This fresh take on a classic "good guys vs bad guys" theme makes it an exciting read for anyone with a penchant for such tales. The characters are well-developed, and the plot is filled with twists and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. A (100%/Outstanding)

The author's vivid descriptions bring the story to life, allowing the reader to easily picture the scenes and events as they unfold. The exploration of the illegal dumping issue adds an important and relevant dimension to the story, making it not only entertaining but also thought-provoking. Overall, "Flush" is a must-read for fans of adventure and mystery, and it earns a well-deserved A rating for its outstanding quality.

I recently completed reading "Flush" by Carl Hiaasen.

At the beginning, it progresses rather slowly, but as you delve deeper into the story, your curiosity intensifies.

"Flush" is centered around a curious and determined boy named Noah Underwood, his tough and persistent sister Abbey, and their rather peculiar father who is unwavering in his stance for what he believes is right.

Noah's dad ends up in jail for sinking the casino boat, The Coral Queen, belonging to the stingy Dusty Muleman.

He didn't do this without a valid reason. In fact, he thinks Dusty is flushing sewage into the ocean where children swim and sea life thrives.

It's a somewhat disturbing but true situation.

The Coast Guard and the police don't believe his claim, so they incarcerate Mr. Underwood.

The strange thing is, Noah's dad shows no remorse for his actions!

When Noah's mom tries to bail him out, he refuses.

Now, Noah and Abbey must figure out a way to expose Dusty on their own.

I truly relished this book due to the touch of humor, the exciting mystery, and of course, the adventure.

The characters and setting are vividly described,仿佛 they are leaping right off the pages (especially the sewage in the water, and I kind of wish Hiaasen hadn't described it that vividly)!

The plot is also superbly written, with the story mostly staying on course and not straying.

I can partially relate to Noah. When he attempts to assist his father in getting out of jail, his mom says, "No Noah, this is grown-up stuff."

That has happened to me numerous times. When will I get to do "the grown-up stuff"?

I really adored this book and I hope you will too!

I am a strong advocate for Abbey and firmly oppose poop.

Abbey represents something that truly appeals to me, perhaps its unique charm, its rich history, or its vibrant culture. On the other hand, poop is simply something that I find unappealing and repulsive.

Surprisingly, there is only one book that has ever had such an impact on me that it made me consider liking Florida. This book must have presented Florida in a way that was so captivating and interesting that it managed to overcome my initial reservations about the state.

Maybe it was the author's vivid descriptions of the beautiful beaches, the exciting wildlife, or the diverse communities that exist in Florida. Whatever the reason, this book has opened my eyes to the possibility that Florida could be a place worth exploring and potentially liking.

It just goes to show that sometimes, a single book can have a profound influence on our perspectives and change the way we think about things.

It was truly an amazing experience that was really good and full of action.

From the very beginning, there was a sense of excitement in the air. The events unfolded rapidly, one after another, keeping me on the edge of my seat.

The actions were intense and thrilling, with no moment of dullness. It was like a whirlwind of activity that swept me away.

I found myself completely immersed in the story, unable to tear my eyes away.

Every scene was filled with energy and vitality, making it a truly unforgettable adventure.

The characters were dynamic and engaging, adding to the overall excitement.

Overall, it was a remarkable experience that I will cherish for a long time.

I can't wait to share it with others and relive those exciting moments again.
