Of all the books I have ever read by Carl Hiaasen, this particular one stands out as the only one that I have read not once, not twice, but three times. It is truly a masterpiece that showcases the author at his absolute best. Carl Hiaasen has an incredible talent for creating vivid and engaging stories that draw the reader in from the very first page. In this book, his writing is sharp, his characters are fully developed and his plot is both exciting and thought-provoking. I find myself constantly re-reading it, discovering new details and nuances each time. It is a book that I will continue to recommend to others and one that I will cherish for a long time to come.

Another Carl Hiaasen classic,

begins a bit slowly as an environmental do-gooder chases a litterer in a car.

However, it picks up momentum when we discover that the litter bug is a lobbyist,

and he is working on defiling more of Florida's vanishing wilderness by making deals for a developer.

Skink makes another appearance, which ties the story together neatly.

The story takes an unexpected twist to end the project and save the island.

Overall, it is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

The ending is excellent, with the good guys riding into the'sunset', ready to embark on another adventure.

It is a much more satisfying ending than some of the other books by different authors that I've read recently.

Carl Hiaasen has once again proven his talent for creating engaging and thought-provoking stories with memorable characters and unexpected plot turns.

This book is definitely worth a read for fans of mystery, adventure, and environmental fiction.

I am a huge fan of Carl.

I have never read a book by him that didn't manage to make me both laugh out loud and cringe simultaneously.

His writing is truly brilliant.

It has this unique ability to blend humor and discomfort in the most unexpected and engaging ways.

Every time I pick up one of his books, I know I'm in for a wild ride.

The characters he creates are so vivid and the situations they find themselves in are both hilarious and a little bit disturbing.

It's like he has this special talent for tapping into the absurdity and awkwardness of life and presenting it in a way that makes us laugh while also making us think.

I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

Sick Puppy is yet another outstanding literary work from the talented Carl Hiaasen.

The story is filled with wonderful and delightfully quirky characters who are quintessentially from Florida.

The main character is on a mission to save Florida from the menaces of litterbugs and greedy land barons.

In an unexpected turn of events, he kidnaps a dog, but interestingly, he doesn't kidnap someone's wife as one might expect. Instead, she decides to tag along on her own accord.

Moreover, the main character finds himself paired up with an ex-Governor who has gone a bit wild and now resides in the wild swamps of Florida.

The combination of these unique characters and their adventures makes for a truly great and enjoyable read. Carl Hiaasen's writing skills are once again on full display, captivating readers from start to finish.

This book is not only great fun but also a testament to Hiaasen's prowess as a writer. It's a must-read for fans of his work and anyone looking for an entertaining and engaging story set in the vibrant backdrop of Florida.

In this rather奇特的 story, we have an environmentalist who struggles with anger management issues.

His wife, on the other hand, adores a stupid dog that seems to cause more trouble than it's worth.

Adding to the mix are rare toads, which play an unexpected role in the plot.

There's also a hired killer who has a strange fascination for 911 calls, and Barbie look alikes who are addicted to rhinoceros horn.

An ex-governor in a kilt has gone feral, while the current governor is loved by everyone except for one person.

The construction supervisor has a fear of nature, and the lobbyist is a litter bug.

It all sounds like a recipe for disaster, but somehow, it works. This book is probably a 3.5 star for me. I found it quite amusing, although I didn't like the story as much as some of the author's others.

Nevertheless, it was an entertaining read that kept me engaged from start to finish.

Sick Puppy stands as one of the remarkable novels penned by Florida journalist-author Carl Hiaasen. The storyline is no stranger to those who have delved into Hiaasen's works or have resided in Florida. It vividly portrays the greedy developers and corrupt politicians who conspire to wreak havoc on the state's dwindling natural areas. What makes this novel truly unique is Hiaasen's ability to infuse humor into this otherwise grim scenario. He populates the story with a plethora of colorful characters, engages in slapstick antics, and holds out the promise of justice being served. However, my one minor gripe is that Hiaasen has a tendency to go off on tangents. As a result, Sick Puppy might have been an even more engaging read if some of the rambling had been edited out. Despite this small flaw, I wholeheartedly recommend this novel, particularly to the people of Florida.

Gotta love a book with a dog as a central character.

It's truly a delight to come across such a literary gem. The story not only features an endearing canine protagonist but also manages to incorporate elements that make it highly amusing.

What sets this book apart is its unique take on Florida's politics. It weaves an interesting narrative that provides readers with a fresh perspective on the political landscape of the state.

The author's vivid descriptions and engaging writing style bring the story to life, making it a captivating read from start to finish. Whether you're a dog lover or simply interested in a good story with a touch of political satire, this book is sure to please.

So, if you're looking for a book that combines humor, politics, and a lovable dog, look no further. This one is definitely worth adding to your reading list.

This is a truly fantastic read that had me completely engrossed from start to finish.

It's a strange and yet highly entertaining story, filled with a sense of bizarreness and humor that keeps you engaged throughout.

Twilly, the protagonist, is an incredibly unique and funny character. You just can't help but root for him as you follow his adventures. In fact, he had me actually chuckling out loud while reading.

The other characters in the book are also extremely vibrant and distinct. It was effortless for me to differentiate between them and picture them clearly in my mind.

The so-called "antagonists" of the book, a group of Florida scumbags, are written in a hilariously over-the-top way.

Not a single chapter in this book feels wasted. It starts off with a quirky and fun tone and just continues to go off the rails in the most enjoyable way.

Skink is perhaps one of my all-time favorite book characters.

The ending of the book is absolutely perfect. I wouldn't change a single thing about it. It ties up all the loose ends in a satisfying and unexpected way, leaving you with a sense of fulfillment and a desire to read more.

Overall, this is a must-read book for anyone who loves a good laugh and an engaging story.

Florida novels present a captivating and chaotic world.

When young ecoterrorist Twilly Spree decides to launch a campaign of sabotage against a litterbug named Palmer Stoat, he soon realizes he has bitten off more than he can chew. Stoat, a political fixer, is entangled with a host of shady characters. There's Dick Artemus, the ex-car salesman who is now the governor, and Robert Clapley, a crooked land developer with a rather odd interest in Barbie dolls. Then there's Mr. Gash, Clapley's business expediter, a permed reptilian thug with truly ghastly musical tastes.

After a series of preemptive strikes involving a garbage truck and a swarm of dung beetles, Twilly takes things up a notch and kidnaps both Palmer's dog and his wife, Desie. Surprisingly, Desie finds Twilly far more interesting than her slovenly husband. In the process, Twilly stumbles upon a conspiracy to push through a bill in the Florida legislature to develop Toad Island, a precious wildlife sanctuary, in a deal that will line the pockets of all the politicians involved.

Chapley wants Twilly silenced and sends Mr. Gash after him. Meanwhile, Palmer, desperate to get his wife and dog back, asks Dick Artemus to assist in the rescue without scuttling the bill. And who better to call upon than the unlikely duo of Trooper Jim Tile and ex-Governor Clinton Tyree, also known as Skink or the Captain, whose repeated appearances throughout Hiaasen's novels have added a touch of hysterical farce to the stories.

Hysterical, as is his usual style. I kind of wish that Skink had remained the governor of Florida. This is especially true when considering who the actual governor is today. Hiaasen has a mind that is twisted in the very best sense of the word. His writing is filled with unique and unexpected ideas that keep the reader engaged from start to finish. One day, I fully intend to read all of his books. I'm sure that each one will offer a new and exciting adventure. I can't wait to see what other crazy and wonderful stories he has to tell.

It is filled with a series of more or less improbable events that take off at breakneck speed, all starting from a simple act of egoistic and thoughtless littering.
