DNF at page 94/140.

I just can't bring myself to continue reading this story.

I truly hate it with a passion.

It seems really stupid to me.

I'm sorry, but there's no way I can force myself to keep going.

The plot is convoluted and makes no sense.

The characters are unlikable and one-dimensional.

I feel like I'm wasting my time.

Maybe someone else might enjoy this story, but it's just not for me.

I'll have to find something else to read that actually interests me.

Hopefully, the next book will be a better choice.

Until then, I'll be taking a break from this particular story.

Alice in Wonderland is a truly remarkable book that every child should have the opportunity to read.

It offers a wealth of benefits, particularly in the areas of confidence-building and equipping children with the ability to confront their fears.

Rather than instilling a fear of imaginary monsters, it teaches children to value and cherish their relationships with friends and loved ones.

By reading this enchanting story, children can learn important life lessons and develop a stronger sense of self.

I am so convinced of the power of this book that I have made a promise to myself to ensure that my future children will have the pleasure of experiencing it.

I believe that it will be a valuable addition to their literary diet and will help them grow into confident and empathetic individuals.

**A Magical Adventure in a Bizarre World**

On 24 May 2013, as I was surfing the Internet in search of pictures for my commentary, hoping to attract more likes as commentaries with pictures seem to do, I stumbled upon something interesting. There was a woman who had tattoos related to Alice in Wonderland on her body. While I do appreciate tattoo art, I find them too permanent for my taste, and I'm generally not a fan of women with large tattoos, especially those across the chest. But I digress.

These days, when we think of Alice in Wonderland, we often picture Tim Burton's film. I'll admit I loved that film and even own a copy, but it's not the true Alice in Wonderland. It's a different story that combines elements of the two books and has a more Hollywood-style plot. The original story, written in the mid-nineteenth century by Lewis Carroll (whose real name is Charles Dodgson), is essentially nonsense.

I haven't read many commentaries on this book, but one that comes to mind is about the absurdity of modern mathematics. The argument was that since Dodgson was a mathematician at Oxford, he was worried about the direction of mathematics and wrote this book as a warning. However, after reading the book myself, I think that argument is rubbish.

What I see in Alice in Wonderland is the first children's book. Dodgson loved children (albeit in a somewhat disturbing way), and he wrote this book for them. It's the story of a young girl, modelled on his 'friend' Alice Liddell, who goes on a strange adventure in a bizarre world. Although it all turns out to be a dream, it's a very strange one. The main characters are all cards, and the royal court has a unique structure. It's interesting that it's a matriarchal society, perhaps reflecting the fact that England was ruled by a Queen during the Victorian age.
Alice in Wonderland set the stage for many children's books that followed, with its fairy tale worlds, beautiful pictures, and simplified storytelling. While children had been the focus of stories before, like in Charles Dickens' works, I wouldn't consider them children's books. However, 'Tales of Shakespeare' may have been the first children's book as it presents Shakespeare's stories in a way children can understand. The development continued with Mark Twain's stories about boys on the Mississippi, which I also consider children's books, though they may be more aimed at older boys. It's also interesting to note that Disney quickly acquired the rights to this story, and since it's now in the public domain, anyone can adapt it.

In conclusion, Alice in Wonderland is a classic that has had a significant impact on children's literature and continues to capture the imagination of readers of all ages.

"It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then." ♥

This profound statement holds a wealth of truth. We are constantly evolving and changing as individuals. The experiences we have, the people we meet, and the choices we make all shape us into who we are today. Going back in time would not change the fact that we have grown and learned from those past events.

I adore this book. It's a classic. It's a legend. It has stood the test of time and continues to captivate readers of all ages. The story is filled with imagination, adventure, and valuable life lessons. It takes us on a journey through a magical world and introduces us to unforgettable characters. This book is not just a source of entertainment, but also a source of inspiration and wisdom. It reminds us that life is a journey of self-discovery and that we should embrace change and growth.

How long is forever? This is a profound question that has intrigued philosophers, poets, and thinkers throughout the ages. The answer, it seems, can be quite unexpected. Sometimes, forever is just one second. In that fleeting moment, a lifetime of emotions, memories, and experiences can be compressed. A single second can hold the power to change a life forever. It could be the moment when you fall in love, make a crucial decision, or witness a miracle. In that one second, time seems to stand still, and the world around you fades away. Forever is no longer a distant concept but a tangible reality that exists within the briefest of instants. So, the next time you find yourself wondering about the length of forever, remember that it might just be a single second away.

I think I had higher expectations for this book.

Well, actually it's true that I watched the film and cartoon versions when I was a child and even read the illustrated book, but I don't know why I didn't like the original book as much as I should have. Maybe it's because I grew up. I don't know. But overall, it was good! :D

However, upon further reflection, perhaps my initial disappointment stemmed from the fact that my childhood memories had painted a rather idealized picture of the story.

As an adult, my perspective and tastes have changed, and what once seemed enchanting might now appear a bit different.

Nevertheless, I still appreciate the book for its charm and the nostalgia it evokes.

It serves as a reminder of the simple pleasures of childhood and the power of imagination.

Although it didn't meet my initial expectations, it still holds a special place in my heart.

This book is not for me (=_=)

I read this book almost a year ago. I still vividly remember the feelings that surged within me while reading. The writing style was truly remarkable. However, it was the PLOT that was the whole issue. Alice was masterfully written, yet I simply couldn't establish a connection with her. I didn't have much concern for her. I didn't really care whether she would manage to get out of Wonderland or not. I'm not sure why I couldn't connect with any of the elements in this book, despite everything being great on paper.

My problems were:

The entire plot unfolds within Alice's dream. The whole of Wonderland is a product of Alice's imagination. And the adventures were so dreadfully boring.....so dull that it felt like this:

Aside from my dislikes, Wonderland does hold a certain degree of interest.

You might be curious why I rated this 4 stars if I didn't particularly like this book. Right?

I believe it would be unjust to rate this book that low. One must understand that this book was written in the 1860s, which is approximately 150 years ago. For that era, this book is indeed a masterpiece.

Regarding my issue with the dream aspect, I think the author did that perhaps because he thought nobody would appreciate this book if he presented everything as happening in reality, like modern-day fantasies. In a dream, everything is possible. This is the reason that comes to my mind. If you have any other thoughts, feel free to comment.

Another reason I didn't rate it lower is that this book is one of the very first books ever written in the fantasy genre. It introduced readers to the enchanting world of fantasy. I've heard this, but I'm not sure if it's true or not.

Regardless of my personal feelings, I will most definitely read its next book: Through the Looking Glass

Very soon!

Or if you are looking forward to reading this book, go ahead. Read it! Don't be deterred by my review. This is not my intention.

I liked the humor and sarcasm that the author uses, but for me this book was not the best.

The actions unfold too quickly, without much description, and it makes it difficult to imagine how the setting is. I am aware that it is a children's book, but for me it lacked a lot of substance that other children's books do fulfill.

I think also what put me off the most was the lack of meaning. One can create a chaotic and creative atmosphere in other ways. Most of the dialogues are very empty without any message or theme to explore... The plot does not follow any direction or order.

Also, the characters are very flat and I even found them cruel and ill-mannered. Alice also seemed to me to be of the same style.

In general, this book didn't bring me anything, but it may be liked by another type of audience. I always found this story a bit shady since I was a child and to this day it still seems the same to me. That said, in this case, I think the movies are better.

To read this gem as an adult is truly a special treat.

As one grows older, the allure and depth of this story seem to intensify. It has firmly established itself as one of my absolute favourite stories that I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

Revisiting this literary masterpiece has been an experience that goes beyond mere enjoyment. It is like embarking on a familiar yet全新的 journey, filled with new insights and emotions.

The characters come to life once again, their struggles and triumphs tugging at the heartstrings. The vivid descriptions paint a picture in the mind that is both enchanting and captivating.

Each time I pick up this book, I am transported to a world of magic and wonder, a world that I never want to leave. It is a testament to the power of great literature that it can have such a profound impact on us, even as adults.

This story will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to many more readings in the future.

I didn't get the chance to read this book when I was a child. So, at the age of 23, I decided to fix that. Lol :p

Last week, I watched Alice in Wonderland 2010 and I loved it very much. That's why I wanted to give the book a try, and I'm not regretting it at all. :D

This book is silly, funny, cute, and real in its own way. It allows you to dive into a world of nonsense and unrealistic things and feel completely normal, as if you could encounter the things in that world any day in your life.

I just loved it, and someday in the future, my kids will be forced to read it, enjoy it, and love it! Lol :p :p

As a child, I was deeply in love with Alice.

She was not only curious and witty but also ruthless and incredibly pretty.

I would spend countless hours in front of the TV, completely engrossed in watching the hatter and Alice having their charming tea party.

The vivid images and the enchanting story captured my imagination like no other.

Reading the book later on brought back a flood of memories for sure.

It was as if I was transported back to that magical world once again.

I still hold a special place in my heart for this story.

And I firmly believe that some day, when I have a child of my own, I'm going to read it to them again and again and again and again.

I can't wait to share the wonder and joy of Alice's adventures with the next generation.

It will be a beautiful tradition that I hope will continue for years to come.

This is the kind of mad stuff I like.

It's the sort of thing that makes my heart race and my mind buzz with excitement. It's not the ordinary, the mundane, or the expected. No, this is something completely different, something that defies convention and dares to be bold. It's the kind of stuff that makes you stop and take notice, that makes you question everything you thought you knew. It's the kind of stuff that can change your perspective, open your eyes to new possibilities, and inspire you to reach for the stars. Whether it's a wild adventure, a crazy idea, or a unique piece of art, this is the kind of mad stuff that makes life worth living.

I can't get enough of it. It's like a drug that I keep coming back for, time and time again. It makes me feel alive, vibrant, and full of energy. It's the kind of stuff that makes me believe that anything is possible, that there are no limits to what we can achieve. So bring on the mad stuff, I say! Let's embrace the chaos and see where it takes us.
