In fact, there is such a great deal of uncertainty that people can't even seem to agree on whether it should be classified as fiction or non-fiction! But in my opinion, this is rather beside the point.

These insights are presented in a charming anecdotal style, through the often frustrating experiences of the novice initiate, Carlos, as he ventures into the mysterious world of the Yaqui Indian naguals or sorcerers.

But I must issue a word of caution. This is not a book that can be casually picked up and read at any time. It requires a certain level of mental and emotional preparedness on the part of the reader.

The text appears to be a bit fragmented and unclear. It seems to be related to some content about Carlos Castaneda and "The Power of Silence" in 1987. It is truly a book that offers very little in terms of originality. It is a collage of stories during Carlos' apprenticeship. However, apart from a few new anecdotes, there are no significant revelations.

In many places, it is a struggle to read due to the boredom that many chapters evoke. We are really far (and not only in terms of time) from the great Castaneda's production.

The writing style seems to have lost its former charm and impact. The once-engaging and thought-provoking narratives have given way to a rather平淡and uninteresting collection of tales.

Perhaps Castaneda was going through a creative slump when he wrote this book. Or maybe he was trying to explore new themes and ideas that didn't quite resonate with the readers.

I am interested in this author because Wayne Dyer often mentioned him as a reference for some of the ideas he develops. So, I decided to do some research on this person.

I found both bad reviews that label him as a charlatan, as well as some followers of what he says. However, I decided to buy one of his books to form my own opinion.

I started the book with high expectations, and in fact, it entertained me quite a bit. If I take it from a fictional point of view, the mere fact that in one of the chapters a jaguar is found in the Chihuahua desert seemed amazing to me.

However, I don't know if this book really has the essence of something mystical and true teachings of naguals. Considering that I did a lot of research before reading it, in fact, the book seemed a bit sectarian to me. For example, the idea of losing the importance of oneself. Although today other people use these concepts to give a personal improvement focus, I think Carlos Castaneda used them to control his followers.

What I can say is that the figure he creates of Don Juan and the stories he tells seemed very good to me. I think that if you take the book from another point of view, you can give it a deeper and more mystical interpretation. However, after reading it, I doubt a bit the truthfulness of this person.

Maybe I need to read a bit more of his works to give a more solid opinion.
