Cuốn sách được ra đời khá sớm, từ đầu những năm 1900, thời mà những bí kíp làm giàu chỉ được truyền tai nhau giữa những người giàu, thời mà những kinh nghiệm hữu ích về tài chính được giữ kín cho nhau. Và cuốn sách đã mang một phần bí mật ấy ra cho công chúng Mỹ, và gây được một làn sóng mạnh mẽ về nghệ thuật làm giàu.

Quay trở lại hoàn cảnh hiện tại, khi những bí kíp làm giàu nhan nhản mọi nơi. Chỉ cần gõ từ khóa 'làm giàu' trên google, sẽ xuất hiện vô số kết quả, với những tiêu đề chẳng thể nào kêu hơn. Để rồi đi kèm là những quảng cáo về khóa học làm giàu, hay một mô hình đa cấp biến tướng ẩn nấp. Cho nên, nếu hiện tại bạn đọc cuốn sách này, sẽ chả thấy điều gì mới mẻ đâu, toàn những điều mà đến ngay cả ông hàng xóm khó ưu của bạn cũng có thể nói lưu loát.

Điều mình thích cuốn sách này, là tác giả đã mang thời đại Babylon huy hoàng đã tàn lụi trở lại. Ông đã lồng ghép những bí kíp của mình vào những câu chuyện làm giàu vào cái thời xa xưa ấy. Khá là dễ hiểu và dễ hình dung với những đứa khá là cục súc với thể loại sách làm giàu và self help như mình.

Mình từng được một anh tiền bối mình rất quý ở trường giới thiệu khi mới vào đại học. Nhưng hồi ấy mình chả đam mê gì với tài chính lắm, nghe cái tên cũng kêu kêu, mà mình thì lại hổng tin tưởng với các tựa càng kêu. Giờ mới có cơ hội để đọc, mới thấu hiểu tại sao anh lại giới thiệu cuốn này cho mình.

لم أتصوّر يومًا أن اقرأ في مجال المال والثروة، لكن التنويع محمود في كل شيء. هنا عبر العديد من القصص في بابل القديمة، يطرح جورج كلاسون نصائحه المتعلقة بإدارة المال وكسبه والتعامل معه.

رغم أن الغلاف مليء بعبارات "أكثر الكتب تحفيزًا"، "حقق أعلى المبيعات"، "استفادة عدد لا يحصى من القراء" ونعم بهذا الخطأ الإملائي... تلك الجمل التي تعطي انطباع سيء عن الكتاب (بالنسبة لي عالأقل)، إلا أن قراءته كانت ممتعة ومفيدة. ما دفعني حقًا لهذا الكتاب هو اعتماده على سرد القصص لإيصال نصائحه. ذلك يذكرني بأسلوب ديل كارنيجي المحبب إلي.

قد تكون مبادئ الكتاب سهلة وبديهية لكن وضعهم في صياغ الحكاية هو ما يلفت النظر والإدراك لهم.
بعض المبادئ:
- احتفظ بجزء من مدخولك دائمًا، ١٠% منها على الأقل.
- النصيحة شيء من السهل منحه، فتأكد من أنك لا تأخذ إلا ما يستحق منها.
- تحكم في نفقاتك. كل عملة نقدية لابد أن تُنفق فيما يستحق ذلك.
- اعمل على إنماء المال باستثماره.
- أينما وُجِدت العزيمة، وُجِد الطريق.
- علينا أن نسعى لاستغلال الفرص التي تتاح لنا، أو جلبها إن لم تأتي.

أعجبتني كثيرًا المسحة الإنسانية في قصة "الرجل الأكثر حظًا في بابل"، والتي تصوّر حياة العبودية في بابل القديمة.
عاب الكتاب التكرار في طرح بعض الطرق، وبالكاد شفع الأسلوب القصصي لذلك. أيضًا بعض القصص كانت بلا فائدة تُذكر. وهناك بعض النصائح كاللتي في قصة تاجر الجواهر لا توافق قيمنا وأحكامنا الإسلامية.

في المجمل هو كتاب جيد جدًا، ومع أنه كُتب في عشرينيات القرن الماضي إلا أنه قطعًا سيكون مفيد كأساس للمهتمين بموضوعه.

یه کتاب خوب در مورد مدیریت مالی، البته بسیار ابتدایی به نظر میرسه، چون خیلی از تقسیم بندی های مهم رو انجام نداده، شایدم درست باشه

كتاب أغنى رجل في بابل

Babil'in En Zengin Adamı uzun zamandır merak ettiğim ve basımı olmadığı için bulamadığım bir kitaptı. Aklımda Thievery Corporation'ın The Richest Man In Babylon şarkısı döne döne okudum.

Bu tarz kitaplardan şu anda yüzlerce var ancak yazıldığı dönem olan 1926 itibariyle oldukça faydalı olduğunu düşünüyorum. Ayrıca Babil'in o büyülü atmosferi hikayeye çok daha tatlı bir keyif katmış. "Satışın 10 Kuralı", "Altın Yumurtlamanın 5 Yolu" gibi bulletpoint kitaplardansa bunu tercih ederim.

Ancak günümüzün dönem, bilgiye erişim ve imkanları dahilinde yeni bir bilgi sunmadığını düşünüyorum. Kitabın 3 anafikri var.

1. Kazandığınız paranın %10'unu kendinize ayırın.
2. Akıllı olun.
3. Yatırım yapın.

Hele günümüz Türkiye'sinde bu enflasyonla %10'unu kendine ayırabilsen bile bu para ne kadar sürede erir bilmek çok zor değil.

Bununla birlikte şimdi farkediyorum da 2011-2013 yılları arasında bilmeden ben de aynı şeyi yapmışım. Önce istifaya niyetlenip elimde avucumda hiçbirşey olmadığı gibi bir de kredi ödediğimi farkedince altının gramının 70-80 lira olduğu dönemde her ay eksiye bile düşsem altın biriktirmeye başlamıştım. Daha sonra da yeterli birikime ulaşınca istifa edip bütün biriktirdiklerimi kendi şirketime sermaye yaptım.

Zaten çok kısa olduğu için okuyun, bir şey kaybetmezsiniz.

Al empezar a leerlo, no tenía muy claro lo que iba a encontrarme. Sabía que el libro trataba de economía, pero no cómo iba a enfocar su mensaje. Y la verdad es que me ha gustado, sobre todo porque está narrado como pequeños cuentos. Es verdad que el mensaje no es nuevo, pero aún así se agradece esta manera de explicar algo que a estas alturas, todos tendríamos que saber. Ahora, la parte histórica de la ciudad de Babilonia es fascinante.

What in the name of crap was that?!

Why does this book have such a high rating on Goodreads? How can a person who's read literally any other book, fiction or otherwise---even a school textbook, really---want to give it a rating any higher than 1?

It has such basic financial advice. Here, let me save you the trouble of reading this book:
1. Control your unnecessary desires
2. Save a portion of your income
3. Protect it from bad investments
4. Invest your money wisely
5. Let your money multiply
6. Don't borrow more than you can repay
7. Don't spend more than you earn (already a repetition of the second idea)
Done

Just these seven basic ideas are repeated over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again throughout this book. Maybe the author didn't want it to be too short; but it still is. It's much shorter than its *epic* 155-page length. As short as an average Goodreads review.

And I don't know what the original reason was to give this financial advice via a story, but thank god for that! Without the story what would have this book even been about?! And the story is just used to make points. Ugh, why oh why.

Don't waste your time reading this book. There's plenty good academic as well as non-academic finance books out there.

I don't know why people like this. No offense ment if you do. Ehhh, maybe a little offense.

This seemed to me a decidedly mediocre set of advice, couched in stupid faux classical language. The result is that you have to work harder to read and understand the nonsense than if they had just come out and said "hey, save money" and "invest in land." A real quote from this is “Where the determination is, the way can be found,” it's not wrong, just generic surface level Instagram hustler shit. Really, the majority of the advice is basic and generic, not really helpful beyond what you might encounter in like a Dave Ramsey podcast or blog post. Someone else here compared it to Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and that seems accurate. Both use fake parables to impart mediocre 'wisdom' and both seem kind of self serving in the process.

There's a specific flavor to this book that I think parallels with a sort of weird hyper-independant "I'm going to get mine" ethos that was romanticized in the late 1900's. I can't quite put my finger on it. But my perception is that it woefully ignores global impacts of our behavior in favor of personal independence and personal gratification.

As such, this book is kind of a whitewashing of greed and avarice, a textual Wall Street "greed is good (if it helps your family)"ethos. And while I think my views are evolving, I'm beginning to see this whole genre as sort of harmful in that way. Not that I think someone reads this and says "oh fuck yea, let's outsource a factory to Indonesia" or "hell yeah brother, lets collatoralize some risky mortgages" but it supports that ecosystem in a way. It brings and personifies a sort of narcissism that allows people to ignore the larger effects of their actions. How what they do on a micro scale perpetuates pain and suffering on a global scale. Head down. Focused on getting mine. Damn the externalities.

So while the book itself is just kind of annoying and obtuse, I think the larger implications of its existence are troubling. I see it as a symptom of a sickness in society.

This book was really good! Loved some of the short stories in it. I hope I can follow whatever mentioned in this book, not just for a week, but a lot longer xD!!!
