This is my very first Murphy "cat" book.

At the beginning, I was truly uncertain. Cats having conversations with one another and even with their humans? It was quite a novel concept.

I'm not entirely sure why I felt a bit uncomfortable. After all, I did grow up surrounded by cartoons and books that had talking animal characters.

I suppose it just seemed odd to be reading this kind of writing as an adult.

However, despite my initial misgivings, I quickly fell in love with the cats and Ms. Murphy's writing style.

The characters in the book are well-developed and engaging. The mystery at the heart of the story is solid and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

And of course, the cats themselves are simply delightful and full of fun.

Overall, this has been a wonderful reading experience, and I can't wait to explore more of Ms. Murphy's work.

This Joe Grey really sucked me in right from the start.

I was given this title in audio book format by AudioGO through AudioBook Jukebox to review. Initially, I had no idea what the story was about other than it was related to cats. Then I listened to a particular part that I had to play two or three times. It wasn't just because it demonstrated the author's sense of humor but also because it showed how this series takes a completely different approach to strange events in stories.

The cat Joe and the human Clyde are actually having a conversation! As the story progresses, we discover that Joe and his female companion Dulcie can talk and read as they are descendants of ancient Celtic cats. They have helped solve crimes in a small town in California and are about to embark on a new adventure involving another of their kind, a series of burglaries, and three murders.

There are sufficient clues to assist the reader in figuring out who is behind the events and what is happening. Although there isn't a truly huge mystery, the story is enjoyable with several sub-plots that keep the reader entertained.

As an English teacher, I often think of my students when listening to audio books as it is a great way to help them enhance their understanding of the language and develop their listening skills. This story is definitely one that I would recommend. The vocabulary used creates vivid images and is easy to follow. The narrator's accent is rather neutral, not overly American or British, which is always beneficial, especially for non-native speakers. The tone also contributes to the sense of a small town.

The only aspect that I found a bit distracting was the number of characters in the story. I did have to think about who was who, at least in the first half of the story (or until some characters were murdered, reducing the cast!).

Overall, despite being the fourth book in the series, the story can be easily read independently.

Lucky Molina Police are truly fortunate to have Joe and Dulcie on the job.

Joe and Dulcie observe as Azreal and his human partner Greeley burglarize several stores. They come to realize that Azreal can speak just like them.

It is only later learned that Greeley is Mavity's brother.

Once again, it's another captivating and super story that keeps readers on the edge of their seats, filled with mystery, adventure, and the charming antics of these feline characters.

The addition of Azreal and the revelation about Greeley add new layers of complexity and excitement to the already engaging Joe Grey tales.

Readers will be eager to follow the further adventures of Dulcie, Joe, and Mavity as they continue to navigate this strange and wonderful world.

I wonder if the author has a certain aversion towards fat people. This is because a couple of semi-important characters from Georgia or 'bouts are presented to us as being rather portly. And then, in practically every single other scene from that point on, we are constantly reminded that they are fat, gluttonous individuals. The author seems to go out of their way to frame each description in the most negative light possible. We are given very little else to feel about them, despite the fact that they do have actual agendas aside from just being fat. However, at the end of the book, the only thing that really sticks with us is that they were fat people.

The actual mystery itself was also quite mediocre. There are definitely more interesting books within this series that could have been explored instead. It seems that this particular installment may have fallen a bit short in terms of both character development and the overall intrigue of the mystery.

Perhaps the author could have focused more on other aspects of the characters and the story to make it a more engaging and satisfying read.

I have a profound affection for these mystery books. Especially those that involve cats. It's truly amusing how the cats in these stories can communicate, yet only their owners are privy to this secret.

When the police receive clues from Dulcie, they are completely baffled. Just imagine their reaction if they knew it was actually a cat talking to them! They would probably be astonished to the point of falling over backward.

This particular story revolves around another male who encroaches upon Joe's territory. He has the ability to open doors and steal things. He makes numerous attempts to win over Dulcie, but she remains loyal to Joe.

However, a murder occurs, and it turns out that the culprit is that strange cat and the person he is associated with. It makes for a great mystery that is sure to delight cat lovers.

This whole series is truly amazing.

If you have a deep love for cats, then this series is definitely a must-read.

The audio version of it is extremely good as well. The reader's performance is outstanding, bringing the story to life in a wonderful way.
