This week, I introduced Welty to my oldest son.

As a result, I thought it would be a great idea to listen to her own voice reading her works.

It was truly delightful to hear her voice.

However, we both came to the conclusion that in order to fully capture all the rich details within these stories, they really need to be read.

Eudora's performance does indeed add an extra dimension, but it would be optimal to read along simultaneously so as not to overlook any of the nuances.

"Why I Live at the P.O." remains my absolute favorite among all her stories, just as it was when I was 13 years old.

It holds a special place in my heart and continues to resonate with me even after all these years.

I hope my son will also come to appreciate the beauty and depth of Welty's writing as he delves further into her works.

Perhaps he will discover his own favorite story and form a connection with the characters and themes just as I have.

Only time will tell, but for now, we are both enjoying this exploration of Welty's literary world.

She read at an extremely rapid pace, so fast that it was simply impossible for me to keep up.

I found myself completely unable to listen to this.

It made me wonder what would happen if, heaven forbid, I were to lose my vision and have to rely solely on audio books to "read."

The thought was quite disconcerting.

Would I be able to adapt?

Would I be able to understand the content as well as I do when I read with my own eyes?

These questions swirled in my mind as I struggled to make sense of the words that were being thrown at me so quickly.

It was a frustrating experience, and I couldn't help but hope that she would slow down a little.

But for now, all I could do was try to keep up as best I could and hope that I wouldn't miss anything important.

This collection of stories provided me with a precious opportunity to take a peek into the past.

The voices within these tales are not only real but also richly southern, adding a unique charm and authenticity to the narratives.

Eudora Welty, without a doubt, was a truly great writer. Her ability to bring the past to life through her words is simply remarkable.

Each story seems to transport the reader to a different time and place, filled with vivid characters and engaging plots.

Welty's writing style is both细腻 and engaging, making it a pleasure to read.

Her works offer a valuable glimpse into the history and culture of the southern United States, and continue to be cherished by readers today.

This collection of stories is a testament to her talent and legacy as a writer.

Three stories read by Eudora Welty herself is truly a tremendous treat.

The first one, 'Why I Live at the P.O.', was sped up considerably. Presumably, this was done to 'fit' it onto the CD along with the other two stories while keeping the total time within the one-hour limit. What a shame! It was so fast that the voice became high pitched and gabbled at times. As a result, the subtleties of the story were a bit lost. However, after a few minutes, you do start to get an 'ear' for it and can still enjoy the humour.

'Powerhouse' and 'Petrified Man' were read in Miss Welty's normal voice, which was such a welcome relief. I loved the gossipy and scandalous nature of 'Petrified Man' the most. It was terrific to listen to, and the prose was truly wonderful.

Overall, despite the slight drawback of the sped-up reading in the first story, listening to Eudora Welty read her own works is an experience that any literature lover should not miss.

My initial encounter with Whelty last year failed to make a significant impression on me.

However, this collection of short stories completely changed my perspective.

Perhaps it was due to the fact that it was a recording by the author herself.

The way she brought the stories to life through her own voice added a unique dimension to the reading experience.

Each story was filled with vivid characters and engaging plots that kept me hooked from start to finish.

I found myself completely immersed in the worlds she created, feeling the emotions of the characters as if they were my own.

This collection has truly made me a fan of Whelty's work, and I look forward to exploring more of her writing in the future.

It just goes to show that sometimes a second chance can reveal the true beauty and talent hidden within a writer.

I am abandoning this audiobook because I simply cannot handle the speed at which the author reads. It's just too fast for me to keep up. I would really love to find this book in print and give it a try to read it that way instead. The audio format just isn't working out for me. I keep trying to go back and listen again, but it always seems to fall flat. I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of the details and the overall experience of the story because of the speed. Maybe in print, I'll be able to take my time and fully immerse myself in the book. I hope I can find a copy soon and give it another chance.

There's a certain personal quality to these stories that I find rather elusive. It's as if they were crafted simply for the sheer pleasure of writing before going to bed, with a sense of relaxation and fascination.

The characters and their happenings possess a bounciness that exudes a sweet joy, and yet it all feels entirely genuine. It's almost like a memoir in its affectionate portrayal of existence - of these particular people, of that specific time, and of that unique place.

It's a heartfelt documentation of lively individuals going about their everyday southern lives. They are just ordinary people, but with a real understanding of the small worlds they have each constructed. They are constantly figuring out how to navigate the larger picture when it intrudes and causes clashes within their cozy little universes.

It's a captivating exploration of the human experience, told through the lens of these charming southern tales.

It is truly a remarkable experience to read a charming story penned by Eudora Welty. Her words have the power to transport readers to another world, filled with vivid characters and engaging plots. However, it is an even more extraordinary event to have the opportunity to hear her read one of her stories aloud to you. The moment she begins to speak, her voice weaves a magical spell around you. You can feel the emotions in her tone, the nuances of each character coming to life. It is as if you are right there in the story, experiencing everything along with the characters. I was completely captivated by her reading. It was a moment that I will cherish forever.

This was an audio book that was read by the author herself.

At first, I was quite excited to listen to it, thinking that it would offer a unique perspective as the author was the one narrating. However, as I started listening, I quickly realized that there were some aspects that didn't quite work for me.

The author read the book at a rather fast pace. It was difficult for me to keep up with all the words and fully absorb the content.

Moreover, there was a significant amount of regional dialect used throughout the audio book. While I understand that this might add authenticity to the story, for someone like me who is not familiar with that particular dialect, it made it even harder to understand what was being said.

Overall, I have to admit that I'm not a fan of this audio book. The combination of the fast reading speed and the regional dialect made it a less than enjoyable listening experience for me.

Perhaps if the author had read it a little slower and toned down the use of the dialect, I might have had a different opinion. But as it stands, this audio book just didn't meet my expectations.

**Title: A Witty and Sharp Article**

Original Article: This is a short and simple piece. It doesn't have much detail but it gets the point across. It's basic but effective.

Expanded Article: This is a truly remarkable short and simple piece. At first glance, it may seem rather basic, lacking in extensive detail. However, upon closer inspection, one realizes that it is extremely effective in getting the point across.
