Why My Wife Thinks I'm an Idiot: The Life and Times of a Sportscaster Dad

Meet Mike Greenberg, the popular host of ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike in the Morning, the highest-rated drive-time sports talk show on the dial. To his three-million-plus listeners, Greeny is the guy who’s equally as comfortable dissecting zone defenses as he is discussing cashmere sweaters. He’s been to Super Bowls and World Series, All-Star Games and Final Fours. He’s interviewed Michael Jordan, Joe Montana, and Wayne Gretzky. He gets paid to enthuse about sports, which means he’s the envy of most men in America.
This is the hilarious, sometimes touching, and endlessly entertaining debut of one of America’s fastest-rising sportscasters, a wry and revealing look at one man’s good-hearted but mistake-prone attempt to grow up before his children do. Marriage, fatherhood, manhood, fame, athletes, crazed aunts with gambling problems, the true significance of sports, the worst possible thing to say in a room full of pregnant women–no topic is beyond his reach. But don’t take our word on it, read what Greeny has to say about:
• Dating: “People who reminisce fondly about dating are blocking out all the disasters and focusing only on the few great nights. If that is all you choose to remember, fine. But be aware that no experience is without good moments. I’m sure during the sacking of Rome there were a few decent nights; maybe they put on a play.”
• Life on the road:
“Wife + television = no sleep.”
“No wife + no television = no sleep.”
“Wife + no television = sleep.”
“No wife + television = porn.”
• Keeping things in perspective: “Never assume you know more than the guy in the camouflage tux.”
• And, of course, marriage: “All of us are married to women who think we’re idiots.”
Whether he’s talking trash on the radio or talking dirty diapers over a fancy dinner, Greeny’s determined to reconcile two halves of a whole. So if your enthusiasm has ever been curbed, or you’re feeling remote without the remote, or you’re just wondering what exactly goes on in a guy’s brain, Why My Wife Thinks I’m an Idiot will be a source of comfort and unadulterated laughter.

This is a truly great book.

It has the power to engage and captivate readers, regardless of whether they are die-hard sports fans or not.

The story within its pages is so well-crafted and full of interesting characters and plot twists that it draws you in from the very beginning.

Even if you have no prior interest in sports, you will find yourself getting caught up in the excitement and drama that unfolds.

The author has done an excellent job of creating a world that is both believable and entertaining.

So, if you're looking for a good read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, look no further than this book. You won't be disappointed.

I have a rather complex feeling towards a certain person.

On the way to work, I do enjoy listening to him. There is something about his voice that can make the commute a bit more bearable.

However, when it comes to reading anything he writes, that's a completely different story. I thought that his work would be a quick and enjoyable read. But boy, was I wrong.

Greenberg, as it turns out, comes across as an out of touch elitist. His writing seems to be so detached from the real world and the experiences of ordinary people.

This makes the whole reading experience so much less enjoyable. It's really quite frustrating. Ugh.

I don't think I will ever, ever pick up anything he writes again. It's a real pity because I had such high hopes at first. But now, I'm just left disappointed.

I dunno,

it just didn't seem to live up to the hype my boyfriend made of it.

I guess I expected too much,

but I did enjoy reading it.

Maybe it was because I had built it up in my mind to be something truly amazing based on what he had told me.

However, despite not meeting my extremely high expectations, there were still some aspects of it that I found interesting and engaging.

The story had its moments that held my attention and made me want to keep reading to find out what would happen next.

Perhaps if I had gone into it with a more open mind and less anticipation, I might have had a different perspective on it.

Overall, while it wasn't the absolute masterpiece I was hoping for, it was still a worthwhile read that I can't say I regret picking up.

The first half of the book was really quite ordinary.

But little by little, the judgment began and the secrets of the differences between couples, between men and women, were revealed.

It surprised me.

Therefore, I will give it two stars in the end.

This book had a slow start, with the initial part not being particularly engaging. However, as I delved deeper, it started to uncover some interesting aspects about the dynamics between men and women in relationships. The revelations were unexpected and made me think about how different genders approach various situations. While it wasn't a masterpiece, it did offer some food for thought. Overall, based on my experience, I decided to rate it with two stars.

Before I delved into this book, I was a huge enthusiast of Mike and Mike.

Greeney, in my opinion, is an absolute idiot. Whoever had the audacity to encourage him to pen this book or assist in its publication ought to be given the sack.

This book vividly showcases that Greeney is a self-absorbed, egotistical individual. He fails to even mention his broadcast partner by name, nor does he give any credit to his wife.

It is shallower than a kiddie pool at the YMCA. The only redeeming factor I can point out about this book is that the story of Michael Jordan was somewhat interesting; however, it was merely a brief glimmer in a vast and shallow sea of darkness.

I shelled out a quarter for this book, and quite frankly, I demand a refund.

I expected so much more from a work that was supposed to offer some profound insights or engaging narratives. Instead, it left me feeling disappointed and cheated.

It seems as though Greeney was more concerned with promoting his own image rather than providing a worthwhile reading experience.

Perhaps if he had focused on the important aspects and shown a bit more respect and gratitude, this book might have had a chance at being something decent. But as it stands, it is a total let-down.

I would not recommend this book to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

It is a waste of time and money, and I truly regret ever purchasing it.

Hopefully, Greeney will learn from this experience and produce something better in the future. But until then, I will stay far away from anything with his name on it.

His wife holds the belief that he is an idiot, and in her opinion, she is absolutely right.

She views him as a spoiled and elitist individual, not in the sense of an actual infant but rather in terms of his behavior and attitude.

Perhaps his actions have led her to this conclusion, or maybe his sense of entitlement and lack of consideration for others have grated on her nerves.

Whatever the reason, her assessment of him as a spoiled and elitist "baby" seems to stem from a deep-seated frustration and dissatisfaction with his character.

It's possible that their relationship is strained as a result of these differences in perception and personality, and it remains to be seen whether they can find a way to work through their issues and improve their connection.

Not bad.

There are some really funny moments in it. However, I had a difficult time truly caring about anything he said. This is because he always ended with something like "my nanny always gets the groceries" or "I've never heard of kids peeing in a pool", and I really wanted to know where he has been.

That aside, he also name drops expensive clothes as if I'm supposed to care.

But then again, I don't usually listen to sports talk. Overall, it's a quick read and enjoyable enough.

My wife still thinks I'm an idiot, though.

Maybe she's right, but at least I had some entertainment from this read.

I guess it's not a total waste of time.

Even if the content wasn't entirely to my liking, there were still some aspects that made it somewhat interesting.

It's always good to have a variety of reading materials, and this one definitely provided that.

Who knows, maybe next time I'll find something that really grabs my attention and makes me a convert to sports talk.

Until then, I'll just keep on reading and see what else comes my way.

A truly remarkable book that I highly recommend is "Greeny".

If you are familiar with Mike & Mike, you will surely enjoy and identify with the family aspect that Greeny presents. The story has a charm that makes it feel as if you are listening to him on the air, but with a greater emphasis on family rather than just sports. However, don't be concerned as he does touch upon sports in numerous sidebars.

This book is a great choice for a quick read. It manages to engage the reader with its interesting narrative and the unique perspective that Greeny offers. Whether you are a fan of sports or just interested in a good family-oriented story, "Greeny" has something to offer.

Overall, it's a book that I believe will leave a lasting impression and is well worth your time.

Good book, very much Greeny
