I found myself in a rather strange situation. I was crying, but it was because I was laughing so hard at certain points in the book. It was truly an unexpected reaction. This book is definitely a "must read" for expectant moms. Jenny McCarthy has done an amazing job of telling you things about pregnancy that no one else seems to discuss. She provides a unique perspective and shares experiences that are both relatable and hilarious. Reading this book feels like having a friend by your side, sharing all the secrets and surprises of pregnancy. It's not just a typical pregnancy guide; it's a humorous and engaging read that will keep you entertained from start to finish. I highly recommend it to all expectant moms out there.

I initially didn't think I would have any interest in this book. However, to my surprise, it turned out to be really quite hilarious and an extremely quick read.

Jenny McCarthy doesn't hold back and discloses some (and by some, I mean any and all) of the less beautiful aspects of pregnancy, labor, and delivery. But here's the thing, she manages to do it in a very funny way.

She takes what could be potentially uncomfortable or even distressing topics and turns them into laugh-out-loud moments. Her writing style is engaging and accessible, making it easy for readers to relate to her experiences.

Overall, this book is a great read for anyone who is pregnant or has been pregnant, or even just for those who are looking for a lighthearted and entertaining read. It shows that even the most challenging and messy parts of life can be laughed at and made into something enjoyable.

Eh, I was mostly unmoved by this book.

However, there was one point where I did laugh out loud, and the last chapter about her labor actually moved me to tears.

To be honest, I think almost any coherent story about birth could move me to tears right now.

(And almost any patron can make me want to throw a book at them, but that's another story for another time.)

Maybe it's significant that the passage that made me laugh is about uncontrollable crying:

"Sometimes you have no idea why you're crying. I remember sitting on the sofa watching a piece of lint roll by and I burst into tears. My husband kept asking me what was wrong, and I remember trying to think of why I was crying, but there wasn't a reason. Crying for no reason just didn't compute for him, so finally I would just make something up, as in, 'I'm crying because you forgot to take the garbage out.' pg 93"

I'm going to have to remember that. "I'm crying because you said we shouldn't go to Chipotle for the third time this week."

Although that one wouldn't be making up an excuse, it would sadly be true. Mmmmm, chipotle. Is it lunch time yet?

I really liked this one a great deal. I discovered that McCarthy's perspective on pregnancy was humorous, honest, and yes, even a bit crude, but in an extremely good manner!

Unlike numerous celebrity memoirs, I found this particular one to be incredibly effortless to relate to. In fact, while reading, I snapped pictures of several distinct passages and forwarded them to my husband. The reason being that I could identify with them to such a large extent, and he also found them to be both funny and relatable.

This is most definitely one of my favorite pregnancy books that I have read thus far. And I would highly recommend it if you are seeking some laughter - and absolute honesty - during your own pregnancy. I am most definitely planning on delving into more of her books as I thoroughly enjoyed the tone and the rapid pace of this one. I'll be commencing with Baby Laughs next!

I'm excited to see what other gems I can uncover in her works. I'm sure they'll be just as entertaining and engaging as this pregnancy book was.

It's refreshing to come across a book that can make you laugh out loud while also providing valuable insights into the pregnancy experience. I can't wait to share my thoughts on Baby Laughs once I've finished reading it.

I'm confident that it will be another great read from McCarthy.

I initially had high hopes that this book would be far funnier than it actually turned out to be.

I chose to pick it up with the intention of reading something a bit lighter compared to the numerous pregnancy books that I've been submerged in lately. However, upon reading, it wasn't truly all that humorous.

Moreover, I didn't particularly like the stance it took against anything natural in the context of childbirth. It's quite disheartening to see that Jenny is so strongly anti-breastfeeding and so firmly against natural birth.

Honestly, it didn't come as a surprise to me when I read that her labor ultimately ended in a c-section given the way she approached things. You could almost predict that outcome from a mile away.

I firmly believe that there are far better pregnancy books available in the market. I don't think that any of the content in this book was truly "something other women won't tell you" because I've had in-depth conversations about each of these so-called taboo topics with real people.

While it does provide a decent portrayal of the typical American pregnancy and birth experience, there really isn't anything remotely funny about that. In fact, it's just plain sad.

Funny & quick...

These are truly the most fitting words to describe this remarkable book. Jenny's journey through pregnancy appears to have been filled with a fair share of challenges, yet she approaches it with such a great sense of humor and good sport. The book, which is only approximately 150 pages long, was a breeze to read. I managed to devour it in just two days, and I'm extremely glad that I did. It offers a unique and entertaining perspective on pregnancy, filled with anecdotes and experiences that are both relatable and hilarious. The author's writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making it a joy to read from start to finish. Whether you're expecting or simply looking for a light-hearted read, this book is definitely worth checking out.

My husband bought this book for me, and I was really excited.

I thought it would be a great resource to learn about pregnancy. However, as I started reading, I realized that it was not what I expected.

It was more of a light-hearted and humorous book, rather than a serious guide.

While it did provide some interesting facts and tips, it was not as comprehensive as I had hoped.

Overall, I would say that this book is not for someone who is really looking to learn about pregnancy in-depth.

It's more of a fun read for a few laughs during this special time.

Nonetheless, I still appreciate my husband's thoughtfulness in buying it for me.

It's always nice to have something to brighten up the day.

I gave it a five stars.

This is because it is just a funny, truthful, and laid-back book. It presents a woman's perspective on pregnancy and childbirth. There is no embellishing, no scientific accounts.

Instead, it is just like having a conversation with a girlfriend about the nitty-gritty details and her personal experience. I definitely had a few laughs while reading it.

However, if you are very conservative, you might not like this book. This is because the author is pretty "real" with her descriptions of things, and it might come off as "a little out there" for some people.

Overall, I think it's a great read for those who are looking for an honest and humorous take on pregnancy and childbirth.

Belly Laughs is truly hilarious. Just like all of Jenny's books, it is incredibly funny, honest, and personal. She tells it exactly as it is, providing pregnant women with a new and lighthearted perspective on pregnancy.

Jenny's pregnancy and childbirth were by no means easy. In fact, it all seemed quite scary. However, it was still a fun journey nonetheless!

I have always wondered what it would feel like to give birth. Based on her story, it's like being on a roller coaster. As Jenny wondered, "How are you supposed to push a watermelon through your vagina?" And there's also the fear of pooping on the table. Hahaha, I never thought about that! :D

This is a very entertaining book and a must-read for pregnant women. Even if you're not pregnant, you will enjoy it just the same. :)

I was given this book to read approximately a year before attempting to conceive a baby. And no, the additional year of waiting had no connection to the book. However, for those who are less acquainted with the medical aspects of pregnancy, I can fathom why this book might terrify people to the core. While most Hollywood moms seem to make pregnancy appear effortless and glamorous, this book perhaps leans a bit too far towards the opposite end of the spectrum.

To be clear, McCarthy is not a master of the written word, and her sense of humor is often rather crude. I was constantly wavering between finding her refreshingly charming and crassly off-putting. In fact, I commend her for this, as it ensured that I remained engaged throughout the entire book, simply out of curiosity to see what she would say and how she would say it.

She did raise a few valid points that I seldom see mentioned in relation to childbirth, so in that regard, there was some value. But by no means should this book be utilized as a serious guide to the highly individualized process of pregnancy and birthing. I consider this merely as a humorous layperson's pregnancy memoir.

I was seeking something light-hearted to read during the final stage of my pregnancy.

This book turned out to be a short and quick read. I'm rather glad that I chose to read it at this particular juncture. To be honest, I could hardly identify with any of it. In my opinion, her pregnancy seemed more like a horror story!

If I had come across this book earlier on in my pregnancy, I'm certain it would have scared me out of my wits.

All things considered, it's not a terrible book. It's just that one shouldn't take it too seriously.

It serves as a bit of entertainment, but perhaps not the most accurate or relatable portrayal of pregnancy for everyone.

Nonetheless, it did manage to pass the time during those final days of waiting for my little one to arrive.
