The Awful Truth about Pregnancy!

This is the yucky stuff that no one tells you about! You know, when you're pregnant, there are all these things that happen that you never expected.

I remember when I was reading this book, I laughed so hard. It was like a lightbulb went off in my head, and I realized that I wasn't alone in experiencing all these strange and sometimes gross things.

And then, when some of the stuff actually happened to me, I was able to laugh even harder at myself. It was like a big inside joke that only pregnant women could understand.

This book is truly a really fun read. It's full of hilarious stories and relatable experiences that will make you feel better about all the crazy things that come with being pregnant.

So, if you're pregnant or know someone who is, I highly recommend this book. It's a great way to get through those tough times and have a good laugh along the way.

Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

I was a bit disappointed.

It took an enormous amount of effort to obtain it since it wasn't available on audible.com. As a result, I had to purchase it separately and ended up paying a significantly higher price.

However, upon reading/listening, it didn't meet my expectations. It wasn't as honest, insightful, and fresh as I had anticipated. Instead, it was merely a collection of a few funny stories.

I had hoped for a more profound and thought-provoking work that would offer new perspectives and valuable insights. But unfortunately, this one fell short.

Perhaps my expectations were too high, but given the effort and cost involved, I couldn't help but feel a sense of letdown.

Nonetheless, I will continue to search for other works that might fulfill my desire for engaging and meaningful content.

I absolutely adored this book!

During my very first pregnancy, I had little inclination towards reading anything. However, this particular book was an exception and proved to be completely worthwhile. It not only provided valuable insights but also added a touch of humor to my journey.

I could easily identify with Jenny and thoroughly enjoyed how she managed to bring a lighter perspective to the often disappointing aspects of pregnancy. The weight gain, the enlarged posterior, and the annoyance caused by others were all presented in a relatable and humorous way.

Thank you, Jenny, for creating this wonderful piece of work! It is without a doubt a must-read and I would highly recommend it to all expectant mothers.

I've received countless recommendations for pregnancy books.

Most of them are as thick and unreadable as textbooks.

I was hoping that the end of this pregnancy would bring a healthy baby, not a dreaded final exam.

I've attended the prenatal classes, read the weekly newsletters provided by my doctor, and done extensive research online.

Finally, I discovered a pregnancy book that is truly worth its weight in gold.

I absolutely LOVE this book!

I don't really care about a chart that tells me how many people get hemorrhoids during pregnancy.

What I really want to know is if there's any way to avoid those pesky things and what to do if they do occur.

This book is hilarious, light-hearted, and funny, yet it's also truly helpful and supportive.

It provides practical advice and tips in a way that's easy to understand and remember.

I highly recommend this book to any expectant mother who wants a fun and informative pregnancy experience.

I read this over two years ago and it still makes me angry to think about.

I understand that it is supposed to be lighthearted and funny, and apparently it is for many individuals. However, if you are like me and find yourself pregnant and desperately ignorant of what pregnancy entails, this is definitely NOT the book for you. It attempts to take the negative aspects of pregnancy and make them humorous, but I was truly horrified and terrified. I could not sleep at night because I was constantly waiting for all these mortifying things to happen to me.

If you are seeking practical advice, it is advisable to look elsewhere. If you are on your second or third pregnancy, or if you are completely unaffected by hearing other people's pregnancy horror stories, by all means, pick up a copy of Belly Laughs. But for me, personally, never opening this book would have been a blessing. I worried needlessly about all kinds of things that I never actually ended up experiencing. It is important to remember that no two pregnancies are the same, and you are much better off talking to your doctor or reading something that has substantial research behind it.

This way, you can get accurate and reliable information that will help you through this wonderful and challenging time.

I really despise the saying "it is what it is", yet that's precisely the sentiment I have towards this book. Evidently, McCarthy endured every single drawback related to pregnancy that is known to women, which ultimately compelled her to pen a book about it. However, there's nothing truly astonishing in it. Not even the fact that she became extremely overweight. Because pregnant women typically do gain weight, whether they are models or Midwest housewives.

Nevertheless, it was a rapid read, and at times, it was even quite humorous. It managed to hold my attention for a short while, but it didn't leave a lasting impression. I expected more depth and perhaps some unique insights into the experience of pregnancy, but unfortunately, it fell short in that regard. Overall, it was an okay read, but not something that I would highly recommend.

If you're a die-hard fan of Jenny McCarthy, or simply appreciate her brand of frank and sometimes overly revealing TMI humor, and you either find yourself currently pregnant or have experienced pregnancy in the past, then you're in for a treat with this book.

It's truly chock full of valuable information that you won't find in some of those other mainstream pregnancy books.

You'll be pleasantly surprised by the unique insights and practical tips that Jenny McCarthy shares in this engaging read.

So, whether you're looking for a lighthearted and entertaining way to get through your pregnancy or hoping to discover some hidden gems of knowledge, this book is definitely worth checking out. *grin*

Overall, this book was an absolute riot! It was a hilarious, light-hearted, and incredibly fun read.

Some of the aspects described within its pages were so relatable that it felt as if the author was reading my mind. However, there were a few chapters that, as a devout Catholic/Christian, I found to be quite immoral.

The advice given in those particular sections was equally concerning. Not only that, but the author mentions her Catholic Faith in the book, which I believe is very misleading.

It could potentially mislead both Catholics and non-Catholic Christians alike who might not be fully aware of Christ’s teachings on these specific matters.

Between the immoral content and the gratuitous swearing that peppered the text, I simply cannot in good conscience give this book a full 5 stars.

It's a real shame because there were definitely some enjoyable parts, but these issues unfortunately overshadowed the positive aspects for me.

This is an extremely light-hearted and funny book that focuses on one of my least favorite aspects - being big and pregnant!

It takes what could potentially be a rather uncomfortable and challenging experience and turns it into a source of amusement and entertainment. The author's unique perspective and humorous writing style make it a joy to read.

Despite my initial aversion to the idea of being big and pregnant, this book manages to change my outlook. It shows that even in the most unexpected and sometimes difficult situations, there is room for laughter and lightness.

Whether you're currently pregnant, have been in the past, or simply enjoy a good laugh, this book is definitely worth checking out. It will have you giggling from start to finish and may even make you look at pregnancy in a whole new light.

Another book that I truly wish I could rate lower than one star. McCarthy reveals herself to be both unintelligent and unenlightened as she spreads fear, panic, and blatant misinformation to any pregnant woman who might unfortunately come across this book.

I understand she might be attempting to be humorous, but for anyone with the ability to think complexly, she comes across as a dull and unoriginal writer. Her constant self-derision, portraying herself as a "crazy pregnant woman" while writing about her husband's rude treatment of her, is simply pitiful. It's no surprise that she is now divorced from him.

Someone gave me this book, and I still have no idea why. Anyone who knows me even a little should be able to guess that I would despise it.

Throughout my life, there have been a few books that have come into my possession and left me wondering "What on earth am I going to do with this?" I don't want to keep it on my shelf because it doesn't deserve to take up precious space. I don't want to give it away because I can't bear the thought of being responsible for someone else reading such trash. And I don't want to throw it in the fire just because I am innately opposed to burning books. "Belly Laughs" is one of those books. I suppose one day I might get a kitten and it will need something for the litter box...

But until then, this book just sits here, a constant reminder of my disappointment.

I learned that I am extremely glad that I didn't eat obsessively during my pregnancy. Because, just like Jenny McCarthy, I would have also hidden away in my house, believing that the baby weight should simply vanish on its own.

Seriously speaking, this was a book written by a mom-to-be and a current mom, straight from the heart. After looking at "What to expect when you're expecting" and other dull pregnancy books, I was almost ready to give up.

However, this book is truly fantastic! It is irreverent and tells the honest-to-god truth. You just can't help but fall in love with it! It offers a refreshing perspective on pregnancy and motherhood, without all the fluff and pretentiousness. It's like having a friend by your side, sharing her real experiences and advice. I highly recommend this book to all expectant mothers out there.
