This gripping book is packed with insights. Not about getting rich of course, but human psychology. Behind the distorted gloat-stories where Trump pours sugar on himself you get a glimpse of the values and beliefs of this truly extraordinary person.

This book was written in 2004, right after The Apprentice had become a hit and rocketed Trump to new heights of popularity. The incoherent, often contradictory and plain ignorant thoughts leave no doubt that this book was genuinely written (or rather dictated) by the same man who is now trolling the entire world from The White House. Because of the timing and the supermanish indestructible feeling Trump must have experienced, I believe it’s also a pretty honest book. Here’s what I learned:

Trump has a binary world view that dictates his whole life and behaviour. You are either a potential means to an end, a useful person, or you are nothing. If you belong to the former (a business partner, journalist, investor etc), Trump will publicly shower you with praise, if you below to the not-useful-group (contractor, “unprofessional” journalist etc), he will make sure everyone knows he thinks you are scum. Interestingly, as we’ve seen, some people move from one group to the other and the effects of this are immediately visible (Omarosa, Cohen etc).

What does useful mean in Trump's context? Citing his own words, his purpose in life is “success with influence”, meaning power, which he considers to be far above money. Trump considers fame a key strategy to achieving this goal, hence the TRUMP brand, hence The Apprentice and now… the presidency. Your value in his eyes therefore EXCLUSIVELY depends on your ability to help him gain either more fame or more money, leading to more power.

Trump has an ultra-rationalization ability which shifts everything negative on external factors (mostly other people) and leaves his self-esteem untouched.

All in all, this book helps to see a primal strategy behind Trump’s seemingly dumb actions and surprisingly, convinces the reader that he indeed has pretty impressive influence skills. This, sadly, makes things even worse as the man has absolutely no regard for anyone else but himself.

I read this when I was a teenager. I learned a lot back then from this book about business and finance. A good read, especially for younger people.

This book started off well with some good business advice. Then it wandered a little. Lots of needless compliments to people he introduces the reader to. One thing I liked about it was you could see the workings of his mind a little, for instance in the way he deals with Kim Jong Un or other people. He is always working the system and attempting to get the better hand on the person he negotiates with or against. Very easy to read.

A few pearls of wisdom but mostly self promotion. C

idk why everybody hate him. Yes, I disagree when he doesn't respect women. Ignore all the mouthpieces of his mouth. but one thing I can't deny myself is that he is a great man. Worth to learn

ربما كون الكتاب عن المال والنجاح مجال عملك يدفعنا إلى تنحية أفكارنا المسبقة قليلاً عن الرجل للوقوف على سر نجاحة وتخطي ثروته المليارات العشرة، الكاتب متناقض والأفكار لا تكمل بعضها البعض، من النصح بالإقدام والمخاطرة وكيف أنه - دونالد ترامب - أقدم على مجازفة كبيرة حينما أصبحت ديونه بالمليارات في الأزمة العقارية التي مر بها في الثمانينيات إلى احتقاره لمن يفشلون في تجاربهم ويعتبرون ذلك "درساً قيما تعلموه" فكيف لجراحٍ مثلاً أن يقول فشلت العملية لكني تعلمت درس مهم، متبعاً ذلك بقوله لن أسلم حياتي لجراح مماثل خاصة وأنه بتطبيق المثال على عالم المال فأنت تجازف على الأرجح بأموال أصحاب الأسهم في شركتك. أيضاً انطباعه عن كل الأطباء بأنهم محتالون في معرض حديثه يشي بسلوك التعميم البغيض لديه من بعض التجارب وهو ظاهر أيضاً في سياساته من الحكم العام على المسلمين بسبب ما ينسب لبعضهم ومن يتم تصديرهم من وسائل الإعلام حصراً على أنهم رموز إسلامية. لسنا في موقف دفاع وأتمنى أن نخرج كعقل جمعي منه ونتصرف بما يمليه علينا ديننا وفقط، وإن كنا سنصبح في موقف دفاع.. فلن يكون أمام أخرق مثله.. لننتقل إلى الكتاب مرة أخرى.
يقول موجهاً كلامه للقارئ "أعلم أنك دفعت كثيراً من المال وأنت تتوقع تحليلات مالية كثيرة، لكن ما أنصحك به هو أن لا تستثمر إلا فيما تعرف ومع من تثق فيه. ففي بعض الأحيان تكون أفضل الاستثمارات تلك التي لا نقدم عليها". أجدها نصيحة تُأخذ من صديق أو من صاحب دكانٍ صغير لكن في كتابٍ كهذا أتوقع نصائح أكبر من هذا.. لم أجد منها إلا اصنع لنفسك علامة تجارية وركز على الاسم.. كانت محوراً مهماً.
ويحكي في فصل بعنوان، من الجيد أن تحمل الضغينة للآخرين كيف أنه كان يدعم حاكم نيويورك ولم يطالبه بشيء لكن هذا الحاكم فرض ضرائب طائلة عليه وكانت سبباً في هروب مستثمرين. وكيف أنه حينما طالبه بالتوسط لدى أبنه رفض ماريو طلبه هذا لحساسية منصب ابنه فصرخ فيه ترامب بسباب لوالدته لدرجة جلبت موظفين من المكاتب المجاورة للاستفسار عن سبب الغضب! هو شخص موتور متقلب في حبه للأشخاص من زاوية إلى زاوية أخرى في لمح البصر. وهي من صفات المنافقين التي نعرفها «وإذا خاصم فجر»، يقول أيضاً أنه في أحد الندوات التي يتقدمها رهبان في الصفوف الأمامية قال بمبدئه هذا وأنه يجب أن تحمل بعض الضغينة فقالوا له: "اعتقدنا يا بني أنك ألطف من هذا بكثير" فكان رده "أيها الأب، لدي احترم كبير لك. سوف تذهب إلى الجنة وعلى الأرجح لن أذهب أنا إليها، لكن لكي أكون أميناً معك طالما أنك على الأرض فسيتعين علي حقاً أن أعيش بمبادئي. غرورٌ مفرط وحسم يصل إلى مناطحة الذات الإلهية في ظنه كأيقونة لها أو مجسداً لها على الأرض كما يظن جعلته رأساً تمثل أفعى مجتمعاً قائماً على المادة وحسب. كما أجد الكتاب مليء بالحشو الزائد والقصص التي لا طائل من ورائها، كتخصيصه لفصلٍ كامل يتحدث عن شعره المثير للجدل ولماذا يحتفظ به مصفف هكذا. وفصولاً لتفاصيل ما يفعله على مدار أيام الأسبوع وكأنه يلقي بمذكرات مدونة عشوائياً ليحشو بها الكتاب.. وفصلاً يتحدث فيه عن برنامجه الشهير "المتدرب" دون ربط الفصل بالموضوع الرئيسي.. جميعها فصول شاردة عن عنوان الكتاب وسؤاله الأساسي.. كيف تصبح ثرياً

I don't like Trump at all but this book is super interesting!

This book is more of a how I did it rather than how to do it. The author Donald Trump discusses the ways he has become rich. He talks about his techniques on how he became what he is today. It is just a bunch of his life stories of him making money. I would recommend this book to a person who wants to be just like Donald Trump or someone who likes autobiographies.

This book also bring you good experience and entertainment behind the scene of his personal life and good advice for living not just in business. It was good and better than I had expect before .
