Like The American Night: The Writings of Jim Morrison Volume 2, Wilderness offers readers the inspiring, yet frequently perplexing, hallucinatory poetry of Morrison.

The rhythm of these pieces is often intoxicating in itself. One can almost sense that the phonemic structure of Morrison's work has an underlying pattern that the average individual simply cannot quite put into words.

For budding poets, this collection of poems serves as an extraordinary illustration of the effects of sound on poetry and how crucial it is for a word's sound to have an impact on the reader.

Morrison's use of language and rhythm creates a unique and captivating experience. The words seem to dance on the page, drawing the reader into a world of vivid imagery and intense emotions.

Wilderness is not just a collection of poems; it is a journey into the mind and soul of one of the most influential poets of our time.

Whether you are a fan of Morrison or simply interested in exploring the power of poetry, this book is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Some poems are truly a source of great enjoyment. They have the power to touch our hearts, inspire our imaginations, and make us feel a whole range of emotions. However, there are also those poems that leave us completely baffled. We read the lines and have no idea what the poet is trying to convey. Some of these lines can be downright bizarre.

For example, take the lines: "Burned by air, Burned by light, in the [gun shot] O Wow, He's shot, & the scarlet news". The line "oh wow he's shot" really makes me laugh, although perhaps it shouldn't.

Then there's the line: "The Queen's ear - a naked, cock stuck in her ass. Ha Ha Ha." This is an extremely strange line and, I have to admit, a little bit gross. In the same unnamed poem, we also have the line: "Yes, big battles Boom boom". This line, in my opinion, is still kind of funny.

And this next line is something else entirely: "Round-up, Rondalay, Rhonda, Red, Rich roll ruse rune, rake roan ran regard if you know what I mean." No, Jim, I really don't know what you mean.

This is my very first negative review. Oh my gosh, should we celebrate this occasion sometime?

Rating Jim Morrison's poetry is a complex task for me, and here's the reason.

Some people think of him as just being intoxicated on stage, talking aimlessly without any real depth. However, I sense a certain complexity hidden beneath his public image. But still, I can't get rid of the impression that he often tries too hard to be unique.

Does his fame make his writing seem better than it actually is, or does he truly deserve all the praise he gets? As you can see, I'm really in a dilemma.

His passion for art and expression is definitely worthy of recognition. Putting out words that carry deep meaning for you at that particular moment is truly a beautiful thing.

At the beginning of this book, there is a self-interview where he writes, “…and that’s why poetry appeals to me so much – because it’s so eternal. As long as there are people, they can remember words and combinations of words. Nothing else can survive a holocaust but poetry and songs. No one can remember an entire novel. No one can describe a film, a piece of sculpture, a painting, but so long as there are human beings, songs and poetry can continue. If my poetry aims to achieve anything, it’s to deliver people from the limited ways in which they see and feel.”

There are times when his words seem profound, echoing that eternal quality he mentions, and other times when they just don't have the impact and get lost in his image. Maybe that's the whole point: a combination of brilliance and incoherence, just like Morrison himself.

No matter what your opinion is about his work, it's undeniable that he left a mark. And isn't that what all poets hope for?

I will always hold a special place in my heart for Jim Morrison and his remarkable poetry. He was truly a genius, a creative force that cannot be ignored. His work will be remembered throughout the ages, as long as the world continues to exist.

Who knows, perhaps five thousand years from now, people will still be reading his words, still being moved by his powerful expressions. Maybe, just maybe, his poetry will have withstood the test of time and remain relevant.

Jim Morrison was who he was, and he lived and died according to his own terms. He couldn't help it, and neither can we. We are all products of our circumstances, and sometimes, we have to embrace who we are and let our true selves shine through.

In my opinion, Jim Morrison is one of the finest poets this country has ever produced. His work is a testament to his talent, his passion, and his unique perspective on life. He will always be an inspiration to me and to countless others.

In conclusion, darling, let me repeat: your home is still here, inviolate & certain. I open the wide smile of my remembrance. This is for you on the anniversary of our first night. I know you love me to talk this way. I hope no one sees this message written in the calm, lonely, far out, languid summer afternoon with my total love.

This passage is a beautiful and passionate expression of love. The author uses vivid language to describe the state of mind and the emotions felt. The mention of the anniversary of the first night adds a special significance to the message. The idea of writing the message in a calm and lonely afternoon further emphasizes the intimacy and privacy of the moment.

The book from which this passage is taken seems to be filled with many such wonderful poems. Jim Morrison was indeed a true artist with his words, able to convey deep emotions and create powerful images through his writing. His work continues to inspire and touch the hearts of many readers.

A Rockstar, a poet, an American heartthrob, and a member of the 27 club; Jim Morrison left an indelible mark on creative thinking and the culture of American music.

His collection of poems, sourced from his travel journals and anything else he could pen on, offers an intimate perspective on his view of society.

There is ample room for debate as to whether Morrison would have desired to publish these works himself, considering many were left unfinished. However, as they stand, these pieces vividly showcase his prowess as a poet.

Some of them evoke a sense of bliss or joy, while others prompt us to question the status quo. And, of course, some make very little sense.

I wholeheartedly recommend this collection to any fan of Morrison, if only for the brand. Poets, too, should peruse it to witness the workings of the mind when left alone far from home. It is a captivating exploration of Morrison's inner world and a testament to his unique artistic vision.

This was a hard book to read.

Morrison was a fine poet. He was, by turns, funny, deep, and most importantly, honest with himself.

I read that he desired to be a poet more than a rocker. That was his life goal as rock stardom began to fade away.

If only he had been able to fully pursue his true passion for poetry without the distractions and pressures of the rock and roll world.

Perhaps he would have achieved even greater heights in the literary realm.

His words had the power to touch the hearts and minds of many, and it is a pity that his potential as a poet may not have been fully realized.

Nevertheless, his work as a rocker also left a lasting impact, and his unique style and charisma will always be remembered.

Despite the difficulties he faced in trying to balance his two loves, Morrison's talent and creativity shone through in everything he did.

He was a true artist, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Now is blessed, the rest remembered.

In this fast-paced world, we often find ourselves constantly looking forward or dwelling on the past. However, it is essential to recognize the blessings that are present in the here and now. Each moment is a gift, filled with opportunities for joy, growth, and connection.

At the same time, we should also remember the experiences and lessons of the past. They have shaped us into who we are today and can provide valuable guidance as we move forward. By holding onto the memories, we can cherish the good times and learn from the challenges.

Let us strive to live in the present moment, fully embracing the blessings that come our way. And as we do so, let us also carry the memories of the past with us, using them to fuel our journey towards a brighter future.

Absolutely amazing and magical poetry! It is truly a work of art that masterfully plays with the right words. These words have the power to directly hit the subconsciousness, awakening emotions and thoughts that we may not even be aware of. The poet's skill in choosing and arranging these words is truly remarkable, creating a beautiful and profound piece of literature.
Love it. I can't get enough of this wonderful poetry. It has a certain charm and allure that keeps drawing me back, making me want to read it over and over again. Each time I read it, I discover something new and exciting, something that I may have missed before. It is like a hidden treasure chest, waiting to be explored and discovered. I highly recommend this poetry to anyone who loves beautiful and meaningful words.

My mother, in those years when her thoughts were more coherent, once expressed that Jim Morrison's lyrics had the power to "melt the heart and warm the soul." This collection truly feels that way, just like his music does. Jim Morrison reminds me of home, of my childhood days, and the numerous musical memories I created with my parents.

I just wish there was a tangible method to prove that this is precisely the way Jim intended his poetry to be shared. Regrettably, with him no longer among us, there is no certain way to know for sure as he never dated his work. This book functions as an amalgamation of his work, assembled as it was discovered and fitted together in the best possible way. It offers a unique glimpse into the creative mind of Jim Morrison, allowing us to experience his artistry and the emotions he sought to convey.

Although we may never fully understand his exact vision, this collection provides a valuable opportunity to appreciate his work and keep his memory alive.

Is it narcissistic to see my writing process in his? This is a thought-provoking question. On one hand, it could be argued that seeing similarities in someone else's writing process might make one feel a sense of connection or validation. It could be interesting to observe how others approach writing and notice parallels with our own methods. On the other hand, if one is overly focused on seeing oneself in another's process and using it as a way to boost one's own ego or self-importance, then it might verge on narcissism. However, it's important to note that simply noticing similarities does not necessarily mean one is being narcissistic. It could just be a natural human tendency to compare and contrast. We should be aware of our motives and intentions when observing others' writing processes and strive to maintain a healthy perspective.
