A book where a new passionate and fascinating facet of Fernando Pessoa is discovered. Although, as it is said in the introductory note to the book, that his love for Ofélia begins to fade, Ofélia is innocent enough not to understand that her love story with Pessoa would not last beyond 1920.

Her insistence with the poet for him to find a house so that they could go and live together and get married could very well have made Pessoa feel suffocated by the passion that Ofélia felt for him.

Very interesting are the interventions of the naval engineer Álvaro de Campos in Pessoa's letters and Ofélia's reaction to this. It adds another layer of complexity to the already intricate relationship between Pessoa and Ofélia. The different voices and perspectives presented through the letters and the actions of the characters make this a captivating read. One can't help but be drawn into the emotional turmoil and the evolving story of love and longing.

Todo frito este Nando.

This simple phrase seems to convey a sense of something being completely fried.

Maybe it's a dish that Nando has prepared, or perhaps it's a description of a situation where everything has gone wrong and ended up in a fried state.

It could also be a play on words, with "todo frito" having a double meaning.

Whatever the case may be, the phrase catches the attention and makes one wonder what exactly it means.

It might inspire curiosity and lead to further exploration or discussion.

Whether it's a culinary disaster or a clever turn of phrase, Todo frito este Nando leaves an impression.

It shows the power of language to convey emotions and ideas in a concise yet effective way.

My little sweetheart, my dear baby,

...That's why at this hour of the night, I feel as if I'm in the desert; I'm so thirsty, but there's no one by my side to give me water. I'm almost driven crazy by loneliness, but when I try to sleep, there's no one waiting for me.

I long for your presence, your warmth, and your gentle touch. You are the only one who can quench my thirst for love and companionship. Without you, my world seems so empty and cold.

I hope you know how much I love you and how much I miss you. Every moment without you is a struggle. But I will hold on, believing that one day, we will be together again, and all this loneliness will fade away.

There were two periods of letter exchanges between Fernando Pessoa and Ophélia Queiroz.

The first period, which lasted from March 1, 1920 to November 29, 1920, consisted of a series of letters with ordinary daily topics.

In the second period, from September 11, 1929 to January 11, 1930, one can read an inconsistent Fernando Pessoa, writing letters with more reflections and wordplay.

---

"Goodbye: I'm going to lie down inside a bucket headfirst, to rest the spirit. All great men do this - at least when they have - 1st. spirit, 2nd. head, 3rd. a bucket to put the head in."

This unique and somewhat humorous statement by Pessoa adds an interesting touch to their correspondence. It shows his creative and perhaps even a bit eccentric way of expressing himself.

The two periods of letter exchanges offer a fascinating glimpse into the relationship between Pessoa and Queiroz, as well as into Pessoa's own evolving thoughts and emotions during those times.

When reading the book, we are transported to Lisbon in the 1920s.

The author's state of mind during that period is reflected in the letters he wrote.

The rapid change of emotions in the letters makes the reader smile while reading.

It was the first book I read by this author, and I wanted to read his other books as well.

This book offers a unique glimpse into the past, allowing us to experience the atmosphere and emotions of that era.

The author's writing style is engaging and captivating, making it difficult to put the book down.

Overall, it was a wonderful reading experience that left me with a deeper appreciation for the author's work.

He is another one living in paranoia.

This was the first thing that came to my mind after finishing this particular book. "The Letters to Ophelia" is a book without particular literary value that describes the epistolary relationship that Pessoa developed with a younger woman than him and which is divided into two periods, that of the so-called month of honey between loving correspondents and that in which the flame of passion begins to go out and the natural separation comes.

This epistolary relationship brings to light another side of Pessoa and at the same time a creator faithful to his work and to the path he has chosen. One could say that even here he assumes the role of the lover, wanting to play with himself and to illuminate new aspects of his work. A mortal lover on the one hand and a creator dedicated to his art on the other.

Not one of my favorite works by Pessoa but interesting. Excellent the translation by Mrs. Papadema.

Tedious, ridiculous, ambiguous.

Was it really corresponded? I didn't understand their relationship and how they got along.

Or perhaps I understood it very well, or too much, or I distorted it...

This situation seems rather complex and confusing. The words "tedious," "ridiculous," and "ambiguous" paint a picture of a relationship that is far from clear. It makes one wonder if there was any real connection or if it was all just a muddled mess.

Maybe the lack of understanding is due to the fact that the relationship was too convoluted or perhaps there were hidden aspects that were not immediately obvious.

On the other hand, it could be that my own perception was clouded, leading me to misunderstand or misinterpret what was really going on.

Either way, it is clear that this relationship was not straightforward and left many questions unanswered.

First of all, this thing of telling women that they are mean and bad when they stop doing a little housework for you has to end. Granted, we are talking about people in their 20s, but it's all the same to me.

Secondly, love letters where there is only the correspondence of one person have no charm at all because all the subtleties that the couple had when communicating are lost.

And thirdly, if lovers only write to confirm that they will see each other the next day, does it really matter if the letters are published?

We should respect each other's feelings and not make unfounded accusations. Love is about understanding and包容, not about blame and criticism. And when it comes to love letters, they are a private and precious form of communication that should be cherished and kept between the two people involved. Publishing them without permission is an invasion of privacy and can cause unnecessary pain and hurt. So, let's be more careful and respectful when it comes to matters of the heart.

Μεγάλο ΟΧΙ από εμένα. This simple phrase holds a world of meaning. It could be a resounding no to a request, a decision, or a situation that one refuses to accept.

Αδιάφορες επιστολές μεταξύ δύο ερωτευμένων. These are the various letters exchanged between two lovers. Each letter might carry the hopes, dreams, and emotions of the sender, waiting to be discovered and cherished by the recipient.

Περίμενα κάτι διαφορετικό όταν βλέπω Φερνάντο Πεσόα. I expected something different when I saw Fernando Pessoa. Maybe it was his reputation, his works, or the mystery that surrounded him. But when I finally laid eyes on him, I realized that my expectations were not what I had imagined.

For 1 asterisk, it was just a simple mark. But for the second asterisk, it could signify something more significant, something that required further attention or explanation.

Literature has always been a haven for those corny down bad romantics. It's a world where love is explored in all its glorious and heart-wrenching forms. I, for one, have a deep love for such literature. It has the power to make my heart soar and then shatter it into a million pieces.

Within the pages of these literary works, wise things are often said about love. Quotes that capture the essence of what it means to fall in love, to be hurt, and to keep believing in the power of love. These words have the ability to resonate with our own experiences and emotions, making us feel less alone in our romantic endeavors.

Whether it's a classic novel or a modern-day romance, literature has the ability to touch our hearts and souls. It allows us to escape into a world where love conquers all, even if only for a little while. And for that, I will always be grateful.

Intense, tender, and at times between the kitschy and the ridiculous. But then I remembered one of his last poems:

«All love letters are ridiculous.

If they were not ridiculous, they would not be love letters.

Love letters, if there is love, have to be ridiculous.

But, in the end,

only the creatures that never wrote

love letters are the ones that are ridiculous.»

This poem makes one think deeply about the nature of love and the expression of it through letters. Love is often a complex and irrational emotion, and perhaps the very act of putting it into words in a letter can seem absurd. However, as the poem suggests, it is precisely this absurdity that gives love letters their charm and significance. Those who have never written a love letter may be missing out on a unique and precious experience. The poem also implies that there is something tragic about a life without love and the courage to express it, even if it means being a little ridiculous.
