The invisible walls,

the rotten masks

that divide man from man,

man from himself,

collapse

for an immense instant and we glimpse

our lost unity, the helplessness

that is to be men, the glory that is to be men

and share the bread, the sun, death,

the forgotten wonder of being alive;

to love is to fight, if two kiss

the world changes, desires are incarnated,

thought is incarnated, wings sprout

on the back of the slave, the world

is real and tangible, the wine is wine,

the bread tastes again, the water is water,

to love is to fight, is to open doors,

to stop being a ghost with a number

(I am because we are)

life is no one's, we all are

life —bread of the sun for others,

the others all that we are—,

I am another when I am, my acts

are more mine if they are also of all,

so that I can be I must be another,

go out of myself, look for myself among others,

the others who are not if I do not exist,

the others who give me full existence,

I am not, there is no I, we are always we,

life is another, always there, further away,

outside of you, of me, always the horizon,

life that dislives and estranges us,

that invents a face for us and wears it out,

hunger to be, oh death, bread of all,...

Poema eterno, poema absoluto. The eternal poem, the absolute poem. El placer de estar vivo para vivir este poema. The pleasure of being alive to live this poem.

Beautiful

Beauty is a concept that is both subjective and objective. It can refer to physical appearance, such as a person's face or body, or it can refer to qualities such as kindness, intelligence, or creativity.

Physical beauty is often associated with youth, symmetry, and clear skin. However, beauty can also be found in the wrinkles of an elderly person's face, the scars of a survivor, or the unique features that make each person individual.

Inner beauty, on the other hand, is more difficult to define but perhaps even more important. It is the beauty that shines through a person's actions, words, and deeds. It is the beauty of a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a positive attitude towards life.

In conclusion, beauty is a complex and multifaceted concept that can be found in many different forms. Whether we are drawn to the physical beauty of a person or the inner beauty of their character, it is important to remember that beauty is not just skin deep.

In the upcoming days of Soljunta,

in the density and the destructive blaze of an accident like a bird

that chirps in the forest with its song

and the fast recoveries

in the spreading branches

the rays of light that the birds already peck at

the entrances that flee from the hand.

Soljunta seems to be a place filled with a sense of mystery and anticipation. The description of the density and the accident's blaze creates an image of chaos and potential danger. The comparison of the accident to a chirping bird adds a touch of unexpectedness. The mention of fast recoveries and the spreading branches gives a glimmer of hope and growth. The rays of light that the birds peck at and the entrances that flee from the hand further enhance the mysterious atmosphere. Overall, the text paints a vivid picture of Soljunta and leaves the reader curious about what lies ahead in the upcoming days.

"Piedra y sol" presents a generous poetic selection by Luis Antonio de Villena. He also introduces it with a proper prologue that provides context to the work of Octavio Paz. This is perhaps particularly useful for the reader not familiar with his work, and is presented without redundancies to a reader who is. The selection is fortunate in that it collects different aspects of Paz's poetics, from "Palabra sobre palabra" to "Poemas".

I am a man: I endure little
and the night is enormous.
But I look upwards:
the stars write.
Without understanding, I understand:
I am also writing
and in this very instant
someone spells me out.

Brotherhood, 269.

This article offers a concise overview of the poetic selection "Piedra y sol" and its introduction. It highlights the importance of the prologue for different types of readers and the significance of the selection in capturing the various facets of Paz's poetics. The included poem adds a touch of beauty and depth to the description. Overall, it provides a valuable insight into this particular work.

And here somewhere I discovered a new favorite.

It is going to be heartily beaten for a worthy place in my heart beside the great Greeks (because only in our own little villages do I read until today).

This simple statement seems to hold a world of meaning. Discovering a new favorite is always an exciting thing, whether it's a book, a song, a place, or a person. It can open up new perspectives and bring a sense of joy and fulfillment. In this case, the new favorite is being compared to the great Greeks, which implies a certain level of significance and importance. The mention of reading only in one's own little villages until today adds a touch of provincialism or perhaps a longing for something more. It makes one wonder what this new favorite could be and how it will impact the speaker's life. Overall, this short passage leaves the reader with a sense of curiosity and anticipation.

As someone who has a profound love for poetry and Mexican culture, reading this was an absolute delight for me.

It is truly fascinating to delve into the analysis of how Paz's culture has a significant impact on his work. The symbolism employed throughout his poetry is deeply rooted in Mexican traditions and values, which gives his words a unique and captivating charm.

However, what makes his work even more interesting is the presence of allusions to Greek myths. This combination of Mexican symbolism and Greek allusions creates a rich and complex tapestry of ideas and emotions.

It shows Paz's ability to draw from different cultural sources and blend them seamlessly to create something truly original. Overall, analyzing Paz's work in terms of culture and symbolism is not only enjoyable but also provides valuable insights into the intersection of art and culture.

I started reading and I imagined that all the poems were by Octavio Paz, but they were for a selected group of Latin American poets. And the translator made a great choice because all the poems are full of charm, poetry, and beauty, and they deal with wonderful themes about life, nature, love, and death... It is one of the most beautiful things I have read recently, and the translation added beauty upon beauty because it is an excellent translation... I highly recommend this book to all lovers of poetry.

It is truly a gem that offers a rich and diverse collection of poems that will touch your heart and soul.

The words flow like a gentle river, carrying you away to different worlds and emotions.

Whether you are a seasoned poetry enthusiast or just starting to explore the world of poetry, this book is sure to captivate you with its elegance and depth.

So, don't miss out on this wonderful literary experience and pick up this book today!

It is wonderful, circular and powerful.

"To fall, to return, to dream myself and be dreamed by others

Futuristic eyes, another life,

Other clouds, to die another death!

This night is enough for me, and this moment

That has not finished opening and revealing to me

Where I was, who I was, how you are called,

How I am called myself:"

This beautiful passage seems to transport us to a realm of profound emotions and limitless imagination. The words "fall" and "return" suggest a cycle of life, perhaps of learning and growth. The idea of being dreamed by others and having future eyes implies a connection to something greater than ourselves, a hope for a different kind of existence. The mention of other clouds and another death adds a touch of mystery and the unknown, making us wonder what lies beyond our current understanding. Overall, this passage invites us to explore our inner selves and the possibilities that exist within us.

Pazin's most famous poem, Aurinkokivi, is structured according to the astrological calendar into 584 rays that flow as a single sentence throughout the entire work. Aurinkokivi draws one in, it truly feels as if it is a spiral simultaneously moving inward and outward, in the rotation of the astrological calendar.

As soon as I had read the poem through, I started it again from the beginning. The rhythm was so breathless that I needed (at least) two readings to even see most of the landscapes of the roller coaster ride. The journey is cosmic, but also human - in a human being there is everything and nothingness. For the presentation of such existentialism, the poem is, in terms of its imagery, just the right amount of surrealist. And Paz's linguistic skill is enchanting, Aurinkokivi is full of striking linguistic images. Part of the credit must surely also go to Pentti Saaritsa's translation.

I wander in all the hollows
I ripple in the trembling proximities
I pass through the heard like a blind man
I disappear into a reflection, I am born again in another
oh, the forest of the frozen pillars
under the arches of light I penetrate
onto the transparent autumn paths
