Just a quick review for this one as it's a comic book and there isn't that much to say!

All I can say is that I LOVED IT! It's just a blast, so much fun. Having seen the movie first, it's hard not to picture Stephen King and Ted Danson etc in their respective roles.

My favourite story is probably The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill. He's such a lunk-head. His actions and the events that unfold are both hilarious and somewhat tragic. It's a story that really sticks with you.

Least favourite? Well, it's hard to choose one because I really did enjoy them all. But if I had to pick, They're Creeping Up On You is the one I maybe loved the least. Maybe it's because the concept didn't grab me as much as the others.

The Creep is such a wonderful narrator. His snarky comments and dark humor had me laughing out loud several times. Creepshow is a fun way to pass an afternoon. It's full of entertaining stories and great illustrations. It's also a nice addition to any King collection. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just getting into his work, this comic book is definitely worth checking out.

Today, I bring you a classic horror author: Stephen King. This comic presents us with five stories, encompassing all kinds of terror. There is the kind that makes your skin crawl and the kind that gives you a deathly disgust.

I have been charmed by the aesthetic of the 1950s and 1960s. It seems unbelievable that each of these stories, in such a few pages, can convey so much truth. I think that being able to see the images has been an added bonus for me.

I encourage you to approach this disturbing world. However, as the comic states, it is not oriented towards the infantile public.

I have an intense love for both Jordy and The Creep. They are truly remarkable characters.

To be completely honest, I find myself in a bit of a quandary. I can't quite recall if I've actually read this story before or if it's just the movie that keeps playing in my mind repeatedly because I've watched it countless times.

Regardless of that uncertainty, this experience has been an absolute delight. It has been so much fun!

I truly wish that there was more content available related to these wonderful characters. I long for more adventures, more interactions, and more of their unique charm.

They have captured my imagination, and I can't get enough of them. I hope that in the future, there will be more stories or perhaps even a continuation of their journey that I can eagerly devour.

Until then, I will continue to cherish the memories I have of Jordy and The Creep and look forward to any new developments.

A great homage to 1950s horror comics, Creepshow is truly a remarkable work. It is actually the comic adaptation of the 1982 movie of the same name, and in some aspects, it is a direct scene-by-scene copy. The slanted angles, bright colors, and comic-style visuals in the movie make it a fairly decent and enjoyable re-creation. However, the advantage of the comic version is that you don't have to endure Stephen King's terrible acting. Although he's not the only one who overacts, his performance is particularly notable in this regard.

I can envision myself delving into this comic from time to time. I have a desire to collect all the Tales from the Crypt comics someday, and Creepshow will surely hold its own when placed beside them.

Nevertheless, the first place in the Creepshow universe goes to the 2019 anthology TV show. It not only features amazing old school practical effects, which are truly a treat for the eyes, but the stories are also excellent for the most part. There may be one or two exceptions, but that's to be expected in an anthology. Additionally, you can even catch a glimpse of a few horror icons along the way, adding an extra layer of excitement and authenticity to the show.

Five horror stories, the real ones, written by the King and illustrated to perfection by an artist I didn't know, Bernie Wrightson, who has proven to be perfect for this type of work. I had already browsed through them in English, and in Italian they are just as great. A must-have for horror fanatics and more particularly for lovers of Stephen King.

These stories are filled with spine-chilling details and terrifying情节. The combination of King's masterful writing and Wrightson's amazing illustrations creates a truly immersive experience. Each story takes you on a journey into the dark and twisted world of horror, leaving you on the edge of your seat.

Whether you're a die-hard horror fan or just looking for a good scare, these stories are sure to satisfy. They are a testament to the power of horror to thrill and terrify us. So, if you haven't already, pick up a copy of these stories and prepare to be scared out of your wits!

This graphic novel is an absolute blast! It's terrifying, it's funny, and it's hella gruesome.

Creepshow is a remarkable work that is made up of five stories by the renowned author King. These stories are presented to us with 1950s-style graphics, which add a unique charm and atmosphere to the whole experience.

Let's take a closer look at each of the stories. "Father's Day" is a solid entry, earning a respectable four stars. "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verill" is an absolute gem, deserving of a perfect five stars. "The Crate" is also very good, with a rating of four stars and a hint of something extra special. "Something to Tide You Over" is a bit weaker, but still manages to get three stars and a half. And finally, "They're Creeping Up On You" is an outstanding story that earns a well-deserved five stars.

My personal favorite of these stories was definitely "They're Creeping Up On You". It was truly terrifying, and the imagery of the cockroaches was so vivid and disturbing that it will forever be engrained in everyone's minds. This story really stands out and makes Creepshow a must-read for any fan of horror and graphic novels.

**Title: The Creepshow - A Classic Anthology**

http://looneybooks79.blog/2025/03/13/...

I first read "Creepshow" in the early nineties when a friend lent me a copy. For two decades, I searched for my own copy, but it was out of print and extremely hard to find in Belgium. Then, a few months ago, I finally discovered it online in a new print. It was truly a trip down memory lane, and it still chills, thrills, and remains a hilarious anthology!

Reread in 2025, here's a new review:

In 1982, Stephen King and George A. Romero collaborated on a movie concept similar to "Night of the Creeps" or "Twilight Zone." Instead of a TV show, they wrote a full-length anthology movie. King then teamed up with Bernie Wrightson (who had worked with King several times, illustrating works like "Cycle of the Werewolf," "The Stand," and the art in "The Dark Tower: Wolves of the Calla") to adapt the "Creepshow" screenplay into a graphic novel. (I remember reading the Dutch translation when I was twelve or thirteen but didn't find an English version until its republishing in 2017.) Meanwhile, the Creepshow lore has expanded to several movies and a TV show (four seasons so far), and new graphic novels have recently been released. In April 2025, the third volume collection will be published!

It all began with five short stories. (In the movie, these were connected by another main story, with Joe Hill (King's son) playing the boy reading the comics. His portrayal is on the cover of this collection, but he doesn't appear in the graphic novel itself.) The "Creep" addresses us readers, saying he has some gruesome tales to tell and show... starting with "Father's Day." Here's a short explanation of each story:

1. "Father's Day" - We meet the Granthams, a family that gathers each year on Father's Day to remember their relative killed by Aunt Bedelia. Bedelia was in love when her father intervened, and in a moment of spite and vengeance, she killed him. Now, she visits his grave every year to express her guilt. But this Father's Day, daddy may return for revenge!

2. "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" - Jordy Verrill lives alone on the outskirts of town. One night, he sees something land near his house and decides to investigate. He finds a searing hot meteorite embedded in the ground. Jordy, not the brightest, knows he's found something valuable. He pours a bucket of water over the hot spacestone to cool it off, but it breaks in two, and he gets some meteorcrap on his fingers, unaware of the doom that awaits him!

3. "The Crate" - Under the stairwell of "Amberson Hall" in the science building of "Horlicks University" is a crate stamped with "Arctic Expedition 1834." The janitor discovers the crate and calls Professor Stanley. Shortly after, Stanley witnesses several gruesome killings involving what's in the crate. He calls his friend Henry Northrup, who sees a way to get rid of his wife using the crate. He just needs some time alone to prepare!

4. "Something to Tide You Over" - Revenge isn't always a good thing, as Richard Vickers will soon learn. When he discovers his wife Becky is cheating on him with Harry Wentworth, he's out for blood... or should I say "water"? He digs a hole in the sand on the beach, has Harry step in it, and buries him, leaving only his head above the sand. Then, he installs a TV next to Harry, showing what Becky has to endure: the upcoming tide while she's also buried up to her head in the sand. Harry soon realizes what's in store for him too. Richard leaves his wife's lover to the rising tide and watches from home as the water rises. Soon after, a creak, some footsteps... and a knock on Richard's door! Will he be able to hold his breath long enough?

5. "They're Creeping Up on You" - The final story is about a wealthy businessman, Mr. Pratt, who lives in his sterile apartment. He hates bugs and wants everything spotless. Leaving the apartment isn't an option as the world outside is too dirty. But then, he discovers a cockroach in his sterile apartment. How is that possible? Mr. Pratt's ruthlessness in business may come back to haunt him. Because those cockroaches... if you look around, Mr. Pratt, they're everywhere, despite the clean living space! And the thing about bugs and cockroaches is... they creep up on you!

I've always loved anthology movies and comic books. They're short, easy to read, and in this case, creepy as hell! And from a Creepshow graphic novel, you don't expect anything less! Stephen King's influence is clearly visible in this anthology (obviously written in his heyday, before he wrote more thrillers than horror stories). As I mentioned earlier, this one collection has spawned a whole new franchise over the years. The second movie was released shortly after the first (only a few years apart), the third movie came out in 2006 direct to video (I haven't seen this one yet), and in 2019, the first season of the Creepshow TV series premiered (I only saw the first season, which had a story by King and his son Joe Hill adapted into a segment: "Gray Matter" from Stephen King's "Nightshift" short story collection and "By the Silver Waters of Lake Champlain" based on the story of the same name from Joe Hill's "20th Century Ghosts"). And as I said, three volumes of new graphic novels have been published with new stories. I'll read and review these as well!

If you can find a copy of this "Creepshow," don't hesitate. It's fun, creepy, and classic King!

"Creepshow" originally emerged as a film tribute to the old horror comics such as "Tales from the Crypt" and "The Vault of Horror".

The specimen contains five stories by none other than Stephen King, directed by the magnificent George A. Romero, and even one of them starring the writer in a tragicomic role.

Can there be anything better? Clearly not. The comic is an adaptation of the stories featured in the film, and they are so perfectly illustrated by Bernie Wrightson that it is impossible not to fall in love.

Lines of the old school, of those comics that marked the childhood of many horror fans. It is a must-see, despite being a rarity, it is worth looking for.

In my channel, I will comment on both the comic and the film in more detail, in case you like to see: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHo0...

Moreover, the combination of King's masterful storytelling and Romero's directorial vision brings these horror tales to life in a truly captivating way.

The comic, with its detailed illustrations by Wrightson, further enhances the atmosphere and horror of the stories.

It is a unique and valuable addition to any horror fan's collection.

Whether you are a fan of the original comics, the film, or just a lover of horror in general, "Creepshow" is sure to satisfy your craving for the macabre.

So don't miss out on this opportunity to experience the terror and excitement of "Creepshow" for yourself.

3.5/5
I really loved being able to read King in this format. I remember that the last story, "They're Creeping Up on You", had a big impact on me when I was a girl. My parents are huge fans of King and horror movies, and when I was about 10 years old, I watched Creepshow with them, and I think that's when I started hating bugs.

There was a year when it was very hot, and several buildings were being constructed around my mom's house. We couldn't go out to the patio because it was full of cockroaches - our family attributed it to those two factors, as it was only that time and they didn't appear again after that. I remember that the cats would hunt them but not eat them, so the patio was full of cockroach corpses. I remember being in my room, in the dark, reading fanfics on my phone, and feeling - and seeing with the little light of the phone - one of those bugs walking on my arm. I started screaming and calling my mom, and I wanted to vomit. I never caught the damn bug in the room, so I want to convince myself that it was a nightmare or that I imagined it.

Stephen King always makes one take out some horrible memory from the trunk, because it's inevitable to connect with his stories in some way. Writing this, I felt something walking on my arm.

This article presents a unique take on a set of stories.

It features a chibi Joe Hill with an endearing kid's lisp speech impediment that actually enhances his charm as an actor. His comic book is callously thrown away by his asshole dad, setting the stage for us to enter the world of "Creepshow".

STORY 1: "I Want My Cake" is filled with rich snobbery and murder. It's a tale of someone whose party was dreadfully delayed seeking revenge. The story gets a 3/5 rating.

STORY 2: "Stephen King is a Yee-Haw" is a rather lackluster story. It suggests that King should have stuck to writing and not touched that meteor. Mishandling things leads to a rather hairy situation, and the story only gets a 1/5 as the author thought it was stupid.

STORY 3: "I Am a Jealous, Wrinkly Husband" follows JWH as he discovers his trophy wife no longer wants him and takes revenge in the worst way. The question of whether he gets his comeuppance is left hanging. The amazing Chinese paintings on the walls of his house add an interesting touch, and the story gets a 3/5.

STORY 4: "There's a Monkey in my Closet" is a great suspense piece. Despite the improbable powers of the thing in the box, which is apparently immortal, this story is the author's favorite and gets a 4/5.

STORY 5: "Ebeneezer Scrooge Moves to Manhattan" features an asshole with serious OCD issues who spends his life ruining others. He then discovers that there may be more cockroaches in his apartment than he initially thought. The bugs have a serious ick factor, and the story gets a 3/5.

Overall, the article offers a fun and cheesy look at these 1980's camp horror stories, with the kid from the first segment adding an extra layer of charm as he uses his allowance money to buy something for his dad.
