Stephen King is one of the greatest writers in the horror, fantasy, and crime genres. He has written many famous stories such as "Carrie", "The Green Mile", "Misery", and more. This was the first story of his that I read, and I thought it was quite interesting. Also, three of the stories I mentioned have been adapted into famous movies that you may have seen. I watched "The Green Mile" and "Misery", and I recommend that you either read the books or watch the movies. For me, they are both impactful.

The story is short and less than 100 pages, but it is well-written. We enter the story in the middle of the action. From the moment "Dexter" goes to his friend "Henry's" house, the situation is chaotic, scared, and nervous. And when it comes to the point, without any introduction, he gets to the heart of the matter and says that two people have died, and he himself is the culprit. After this, we have several flashbacks. The flashback goes to the time when the security guard comes to Dexter and tells him that he has to show him something. And then, in the basement of the building of the School of Zoology, a wooden box with a history dating back two centuries is found. A box that is about three meters long and makes us think about what this box could have been made for. And at the end, when the box is opened and what is inside it is revealed.

In my opinion, the horror of the story, in addition to what is in the box and the things that cause it, there are two other notable points that had a greater impact on me (these two points have spoilers, so if you are going to read the story, skip them):

In my opinion, this story had a flaw, and that was why the box was placed in the basement of the building of the School of Zoology. I wanted an explanation about this, but there was no explanation. Maybe it can only be justified in one way, and that is to consider the reason for its existence like the reason for the existence of the other box that Henry brought with him, but still it doesn't make sense because this box is more dangerous and no one is guarding it. (If you read the story, you will understand what I mean).

Overall, I have to say that the story was good. It didn't have a special mystery or excitement, but it caused some moments of suspense. If you read it in the dark and quiet of the night, it has a greater impact. Besides, I also enjoyed the criminal aspect of the story. From the way the murder was committed to the cleaning up of the crime scene. This was also one of the attractions of the story for me.

However, in my opinion, it could have been written with more complexities. I hope to find more in the other books of Stephen King. If you are interested in this genre, you will probably like this story.

It was truly amazing.

My parents got this for me approximately a year or two ago.

I just now got around to reading it, and it was simply great.

It's a comic, and a rather short one at that.

So, it took me less than an hour to finish it.

However, it was extremely fun, and I really liked it a lot.

In fact, I couldn't resist annotating it.

Some of the lines were just so good.

I'm sure that after some time passes, I will read it again.

I highly recommend this comic to anyone who enjoys a quick and entertaining read.

It's definitely worth checking out.

In the good old days before easily affordable VCRs, going to the theater to watch a movie was a unique experience. Once the movie ended in the theater, it would disappear for years. Then, a heavily sanitized version might show up on the TV screen, and after that, it basically vanished forever.

Yeah, life seemed to have its drawbacks in those pre-streaming dark days.

So, imagine my excitement when, after seeing a particular movie back in 1982, I discovered a comic book version of it on the shelf of my local bookstore. Yes, kids, I first watched the movie in a cineplex attached to a mall. Then, I walked over to the mall, which was filled with actual stores, including two bookstores, and purchased the book.

Well, perhaps life didn't completely suck back then.

This comic book is simply a cartoon version of the film. Although it doesn't hold back on the violence, the dialogue is almost word-for-word from the movie. However, it doesn't have the line spoken by Stephen King himself when he plays the lonesome Jordy Verrill. When he discovers the strange rock that has fallen from the sky, he touches it, gets slimy, and utters the words that made my boys giggle when they saw the movie.

Yeah, for days after that, they would roam around the house, poking each other and saying, "Meteor shit!"

Ah, those memories!

Anyway, just remember that there was once a time when you couldn't watch any movie you wanted at any time you wanted. And if, horrors, that ever happens again, you can always turn to your old pal Books for entertainment. Honestly, being able to see Fluffy, the toothy critter from The Crate whenever I want? Well, I guess life really isn't that bad after all.

To me, this "horror comic" appears to be extremely childish and completely stupid.

The first story had some merit, but everything else is just trash. That's all there is to it!

Initially, this review was much longer as I was angry, believing that Stephen King had taken this project lightly. However, through conversations with a reader friend, L McCoy, I have come to understand that this is actually a tribute to older, cheesier comics.

I suppose for King and his generation, they would have a great affection for these comics because they held significance during their formative years. When you're young, you might not notice how cheesy some of the content you consume is. I know this from personal experience. When I revisit something I used to enjoy in my youth, I often discover that it's actually a terrible read or show.

But for others who feel a sense of nostalgia and are reminded of simpler times or good memories by these works, I don't really have the same emotional response.

A great throwback to the horror comics of the 1960s and 70s, this collection features a handful of spooky tales that are sure to give you the willies.

Or at least, they might, if you haven't seen the film. But being someone who has, I have to admit that the endings weren't a real shocker. However, they were still cheesy, horror fun with some of the best artwork from Bernie Wrightson.

My favorite was probably the Crate. The story was filled with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. And the artwork was so detailed and atmospheric that it really brought the story to life.

This collection is perfect reading for the month of October, kiddies (hee-hee-heee). Whether you're a die-hard horror fan or just looking for a fun read, these stories are sure to satisfy. So grab a copy, curl up in a cozy chair, and prepare to be scared out of your wits!

You simply can't top these five outrageously crazy and bizarre stories.

Taking inspiration from and paying homage to the 1950s comics, Creepshow is an absolute must-watch for every horror enthusiast and Stephen King fan out there.

The comic itself is a truly fantastic addition to the Creepshow universe. The illustrations within it are nothing short of brilliant, bringing the stories to life in the most vivid and captivating way.

I had an incredibly fun time delving into this comic and getting lost in its strange and wonderful world. It's a real treat for the eyes and the imagination.

Whether you're a die-hard horror fan or just looking for something a little different and exciting, Creepshow is definitely worth checking out. You won't be disappointed.

I picked up this movie-to-comic version and initially thought it was reasonably lame.

I suppose the Stephen King name alone wasn't sufficient to rescue this particular adaptation. The narration is rather comical, somewhat reminiscent of the comics from the 1960s/1970s, and the narrator is an undead Stan Lee, which adds an interesting albeit strange touch.

However, none of the stories within this comic seem to have any real impact. Then again, it's not like the movie fared much better in that regard either.

In conclusion, I would highly suggest saving both your precious time and hard-earned money by avoiding this one altogether. (And of course, a 'thank you' note to me for this valuable advice will also be much appreciated. :D)

Creepshow is truly wickedly old school.

Its publication actually predates my very birth. However, whenever I encounter it, it has the remarkable ability to transport me right back to my childhood days.

I vividly remember those evenings, sitting in front of the television, eagerly watching Are You Afraid of the Dark and munching on DunkaRoos.

Although Creepshow shows its age, it does so in a manner that is both nostalgic and sweet.

There is a certain charm and authenticity to it that cannot be replicated.

It's like a precious relic from a bygone era.

So, don't make the mistake of missing out on this oldy but goody.

It holds a special place in the hearts of those who appreciate the magic of classic horror and the power of memories.

Give it a chance, and you might just find yourself lost in a world of spooky fun and warm nostalgia.

Finally, I was able to read it! I have enjoyed it from beginning to end. That touch of cryptic stories gives it a lot of shine, and although I don't consider the stories perfect, they are very good.

The movie and the comic complement each other.

1. Father's Day - 4 Stars

This story had an interesting premise. It explored the relationship between a father and his child in a unique way. The plot had its twists and turns that kept me engaged throughout.

2. The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verril - 3 Stars

While this story had its moments, it didn't quite grip me as much as the others. The character of Jordy Verril was somewhat tragic, but I felt that the story could have been developed further.

3. Something to Tide You Over - 5 Stars

This was definitely one of the highlights of the collection. The story was intense and full of suspense. The ending was particularly satisfying and left me with a sense of shock and awe.

4. The Crate - 4.5 Stars

The Crate was a great story that combined elements of horror and mystery. The atmosphere was well-crafted, and the characters were believable. I really liked the way the story unfolded and the unexpected twists along the way.

5. They're Creeping Up on You - 5 Stars

This story was truly terrifying. The idea of something creeping up on you in the dark is enough to send shivers down anyone's spine. The author did a great job of building tension and creating a sense of dread.

I have really loved it. It's a pity that it is so short, but sometimes it's better to be short and memorable than long and soporific (even though it may sound bad).

The drawing is magnificent, reminding me of the Marvel comics that I read when I was a child. The stories have become very pleasant and entertaining, transmitting several emotions to me, such as terror, pity, despair, and even humor.

*Father's Day ⭐⭐⭐⭐

*The Solitary Death of Jordy Verrill ⭐⭐⭐⭐

*The Box ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

*The Tide ⭐⭐⭐⭐

*The Invasion of the Cockroaches ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Each of these stories has its own unique charm. Father's Day might touch on the complex relationship between a father and his child. The Solitary Death of Jordy Verrill could perhaps explore themes of isolation and the fear of dying alone. The Box, with its five-star rating, must have been an extremely engaging and captivating tale. The Tide might have had elements of mystery and adventure. And The Invasion of the Cockroaches, also with five stars, probably had a thrilling and exciting plot that kept the reader on the edge of their seat. Overall, this collection of stories has been a great read.
