During the Covid pandemic, after thoroughly re-reading all of Stephen King’s books, I decided to explore the works of Robert McCammon. Someone recommended "Swan Song" to me since my favorite book is "The Stand", and I was immediately hooked. This particular book was the sixth one of his that I read, and I have read a couple more since then. However, I must admit that I like this one the least. It was still a solid story with excellent writing. Nevertheless, it was much more of a science-fiction/action story compared to the other books of his that I simply couldn't put down. I'm not a big fan of aliens, and the entire story seemed cheesy to me. I understand that it was supposed to have a bit of a campy feel, but in my opinion, he has written much better works. Still, if you're a fan of McCammon and enjoy more science-fictiony horror stories, you should probably give this one a read. I personally prefer horror without too many gimmicks, but that's just a personal preference. There is definitely an audience for this book. It just wasn't the right fit for me. I would rate it three stars.
